Maybe Minnie was supposed to be protagonist as per PH but then projecting ashnoor as lead and paridhi as her sidekick wouldn't have attracted viewers. Paridhi wouldn't have accepted the role either. Entire 200 episode was probably a set up to make Minnie main protagonist....

The thing is they could have done a really beautiful job of setting Minnie up as the lead for S2. They just didn't have to sacrifice Hanita or all the story lines they had created for this to happen.

Babita has often thought of log kya kahenge but I don't think it was to an obsessive level. There have been many times when she fought against society and did things they either didn't agree with or have vehemently opposed.

Heck, the woman fought her own divorce case in court! Name me someone in PB's society who would have had the guts to do something like that.

@Bold 1 - I don't agree. Is it really even about "log kya kahenge" anymore? Its like every single psychological problems there is in the world, Babita has 'em.

@Bold 2 - This seems to be it in the hindsight 🤔

For the real life Babitas who might not have had the courage to break free from a cheater or abusive husband, this was an inspiring story. Now showing this Babita has fallen back into victimhood after achieving success, freedom and love... what message are you exactly trying to give? Who wants to see this dark side? Where is the hope to try to overcome all the complications life has thrown at you? Where is the hope to stand up and face the challenges even if you fall sometimes?

Its just really sad. Just really really sad.

I kinda wanna message this RS personally on fb and just genuinely let her know how she's breaking people's spirit and hope by showing this.

There's no point, she'll just block you.

They emphasized too much on Minnie's victimization. If they wanted to show how much she suffered as a result of the divorce and Babes' neglect after her second marriage, then there was a much better way to do that. Instead, they twisted every single thing in the show to be about her, and present her as being absolutely right while everyone else is wrong.

I know. I have hard time believing that babita became worse than before but damage is done. I am still not able to think of one valid reason for ruining her character. If this is how her character was supposed to be then entire story of PB sucks.

@bold: Exactly. And as far as I remember, she made that decision on her own and not because it was forced by Mini. If this woman can have the courage to do this in the lowest phase of her life, what happened now?

And I agree if they wanted the focus to be on Mini in S2 and even if they decided to kill Hanita, there were other ways to do it. They didn't have to completely destroy Hanita's character for this.

The only reason I can think of is that the writers wanted to create sympathy for Minnie so that we can root for her when the second season comes around. But I have said this so many times before, you cannot force sympathy. It has to come naturally and either people will have it or they won't.

They effed up big time by trying to make us feel bad for her this way.

Right!

I was shocked when the very next morning, she walked fresh out of the bathroom with a smile on her face. There was a glow, and positivity to her that I never saw in a woman before. And that speech that she gave to Minnie about women being more than their body parts? It was one of the most inspiring things I had ever heard from any woman let alone from a woman from ITV.

I just can't accept that that Babita is the same woman that we're seeing today.

Some of the best dialogues were spoken by Babita in this scene. So freaking inspiring and Paridhi nailed it. After going through all of this, the kind of crap she is saying now is unfathomable.

I also cannot accept this Babita. Also, I don't know what kinda crap Saroj is spouting, but no mother would do this. I am sorry. I put mothers in a really high pedestal (not unrealistically, because I know there are mothers who are abusive towards their child too, but Babita isn't that), and this is the insult to those divorced or widowed mothers who married for the 2nd time and have balanced the responsibility of the child and the new husband nicely or at least tried to (esp. with a husband like HS), and never lost themselves in the process.

Heck, I have witnessed this closely among my close relatives.

I don't know what the eff she's trying to show. And if this was always supposed to be a dark story about trauma victim's psyche, then they fooled the audience with their tagline and the first 200 episodes.

Babita may not be intellectually smart but I will daresay that her emotional IQ was really strong. Everything she does is heavily based on her emotions rather than logic. She feels way too much and ends up getting swept away by it all. However, that doesn't stop her from empathizing with others or considering how they feel. She simply cares too much. Whether it's her yelling at the Khuranas and then immediately being apologetic about it or forgiving Pinku and Saroj after merely one tearful apology. She gives in way too easily and doesn't really think about the long term implications of her actions. These things need to be told to her.

I completely get that and Babita may have been inconsiderate of Minnie's feelings from time to time but their arguments never gave a hint of their being no love. Instead, at the end of the day there was nothing but love between the two. It's like that time when Minnie wrote in her diary, "Jab jagra karte the tab bhi ek apnapan sa mehsoos hota tha." Nowadays when these two fight you just can't feel the love. It's instead coming from a place of spite or "I'm right and you're wrong" rather than it being "I think you're being misguided, let me show you the way".

Now that you mention it, there has been a tonal shift in the writing. It has taken a weird dark turn where there is no hope left. Before, we dealt with a lot of heavy subjects but there was a lightness to it to help balance it all out. Now it's just gloom and despair all around us.
