I don’t think the foreign films do the traditional Jan to December calendar. They do something like October to September i think. So for the 2020 oscars Hindi films from October 2018 to September 2019 were eligible. October came April 2018 so it would be considered for the previous oscars. The 2 films were never in the same year span Oscar wise
