It is not illegal. there is no such law. It is however illegal if parents are abandoned and ownership of their property is taken.

Oh. I haven't studied law, so wouldn't know much. however had read it somewhere hence thought of mentioning.

Thanks Smriti. The article also speaks about the same. Those that are legal heirs or have inherited property are mandated by law to take care of their parents or relative/s. Any undue coercion or fraud in acquiring property would also be punishable. Elders should be educated on their rights under law. Especially as we see senior population on the rise in India.

I believe it is illegal to drive out parents from the family home and they happen to be Sunil's (that is what I think is Pradnya's husband' name) parents. But they live in such fear that it can be ruled out that they will go along that path.

We dont know the house is bought and owned by Sunil or belongs to karkhanis Kaka kaku. They seem to be neighbours with Kulkarni since a very long time, so they might own the house too.

In that case, pradnya can be penalized for kicking the owners out of the house. Am i right Mukta?
