Even as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been topping the TRP charts, rumour has it that one of the key actors is quitting the show. According to a SpotboyE report, Pankhuri Awasthy, who plays the role of Vedika, has taken an exit from the popular show due to her film commitment. Pankhuri has bagged a film, the shooting of which started recently and it has left her with no time to shoot for the TV show. Unable to juggle between the two, the actress has decided to quit the show.

However, the actress refuted the report. "No, I am not leaving the show anytime soon. Yes, I have signed a film. In fact, I have started shooting for it. But I am managing it simultaneously. So for now, I am not going anywhere," she said.

A few months ago, fans of the lead pair Kartik-Naira threatened to boycott Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as the show's new track showed Kartik (Mohsin Khan) getting married to Vedika. The producer Rajan Shahi had then told in an interview with India Forums that he understands that fans are angry as they are too attached to the characters and he respects their feelings. But, he also believes that people should use their words carefully for a person who is just playing a fictional character.

Talking about Vedika's role, Shahi said: "This is a cameo of Pankhuri Awasthy and she is not here for a long time. Later on, things will get solved as the story progresses," he said.

About receiving the hate messages, Pankhuri had earlier said: "I have realized that I'm not dealing with people who are willing to listen or be reasonable, nothing that I would say will make a difference. So, it's best to refrain and not entertain." "It's not just me, it's the entire cast of the show that gets spammed by the trollers who write bad stuff about characters, creatives, producers, actors, and their personal lives, etc. These people don't have a face or a legit profile for me to be moved or disturbed by it or even pay it to heed," she had added

Either her ex track will drag for another 5-6 months or something will come out of it which ll make Vedika even more bechari to continue to be treated as Kartik's wife..I wish we r not shown the story progresses the same way as it is now where Kartik is neither taking any decision on his marriage with Vedika nor is he letting go off Naira..I would like to see change in relationship dynamics if she stays ..but yeah seem like we were fooled into believing she will leave with her movie offer.

The fact that the custody track and now Kairav hating Kartik track was introduced just to cater to the actress‘s schedule is concerning. I don’t see what more can they do with her character until and unless Kaira as a couple are done for good. Obviously that’s not possible and I don’t think cvs would risk showing any kind of relationship between Kartik and Vedika.

We can only hope that she only comes back to record her exit storyline. If not, I really don’t see how the story will progress with Kartik married to someone else.

This character is reason why the show is ruined..she is cunning, manipulative and annoying..nothing against the actress it's just that there is no likeable quality in Vedika the character..Pankhuri is staying probably because it's trp topper but she is getting so much hate..so she should now quit it and get a good less annoying role on another show ..

Thats are most irritating thing, the story isn’t progressing at all. It will be good even if they show a flashback between Kartik and Vedika after she comes back, about he has already made it clear to her that he doesn’t considers her his wife and still loves Naira. Then only i will be able to digest his sudden change of attitude towards Naira, otherwise it looks like he wants laddoo in both hands.

Viewers cant even stand a single second of Vedika in show, the faces she makes , the way she delivers dialogs and her becharipan with all those cunningness and manipulations. God knows why they aren’t progressing the track and showing us something relevant other than showing an already hard to digest kid, turned into a real monster.

I feel The show was doomed the day they made Vedika marry Kartik, even someone like Ekta Kapoor has never ever shown leads doing bigamy wedding, either the wedding remains incomplete or it never happens . They could have shown them engaged , anyways she was living with them, so they could have carried on her insecurity , jealousy and blackmailing even after that. DKP is making fun or human emotions, relationships, indian judiciary, child psychology and most of all they are making fun of we fans in a very subtle and clever way. I feel she will be there for good and they are going to make Kartik accept her, may be Naira will convince him somehow .
