As for all this Gujju stuff - another perfect question for #AskAni. 😉

Exactly. Rustic guy has something totally special.

I told my husband that wish I would have met this (Anirudh) Dave first. And husband was like.. yeah, I wish too. 🤣

Now if I go and tell him that Anirudh is Gujju, he is gonna be like — See, Daves are so talented. 😆

This is real life Kundali swapping. See, Ekta’s stories have some realism to it. 😆

Wait I am confused. How are you classified as being a Gujju or a Punjabi etc? Is it because you live in that state or place, or is it because of your surname? Like if you are a Patel but your family has been living in punjab for generations, does that make you a Gujju or a Punjabi?

Excuse my ignorance, I am not Indian so I don’t know these things 🤔

Damnn, so you would have rather married Aniruddh then? 😆

From what I understand, it's by blood. So where did your ancestors originally come from.

For example, if they've been living in Punjab for generations, then you're Punjabi too. My parents immigrated to Canada, but their parents and their parents were all from Punjab. Hence, me being Punjabi. It could very well be the same thing for Aniruddh. Just because he was brought up and raised in Rajasthan,it doesn't make him Rajasthani. By blood he would be Gujju because that's where his ancestors originally came from. It gets even more complicated with mixed relations.

Loll, it's Aniruddh we're talking about. Who wouldn't want to marry him? 😆

Yeah, thats what I understand too. It depends on where your ancestors came from. You might be living in one city or place for generations, but you would be called a gujju, or punjabi, or tamilian etc, depending on where your family's origin is from, and by blood.

Like you are born in America, but your family's origin is from India, you won't be called American, you will be called an Indian American.... though this also depends on individuals, how they identity themselves. I have seen lots of kids and young adults my age not identifying themselves from where their family originated from... I have heard people say "I am not Indian, or Pakistani, or Mexican etc., I am American". Its really up to the individual. Identity crisis is a big thing in Immigrant children. I struggle too sometimes.
