Arnav and kushi had a love marriage . Arnav went against the wishes of Dadi he married her. So also I think kushi was not Dadi’s first choice because kushi comes from a middle class family.

We can see Dadi has still not accepted her because she was hesitating to give the house keys to kushi and on Arnav’s insistence she gave the keys. Kushi on the other hand is very much loved and respected by the other family members.

Kushi is still scared of Dadi and always thinks of her reaction when any incident takes place in the house. I personally feel that Arnav by transferring the property and money in kushi’s name he wants to show Dadi what place kushi occupies in his life she should be given the same respect .

Waiting for Dadi’s arrival and her first reaction on realizing that Arnav has approved an angrezi wife for NK

Another fab update. I think that photo Dadi threw is of khushi .. she is not happy with arnav choice by transferring all his assets in Khushi’s name Arnav wants to show how much she mean to him

Chapter 9

Khushi walked the corridor upstairs in Raidaza house and as she did she heard him call for her. He must have seen her through the ajar door.

When she walked into the room she saw 3 people, Hariprakash going about his cleaning, and Mr Raheja Arnavs financial advisor and golfing friend. The two men were sat amongst paper work and calculations. In all of this Mr Raheja looked like the silent intelligent sort whilst ASR true to his nature was charismatic in even the way he was sat at his seat.

She smiled as she walked in and Arnav met her eyes with warm look.

“I need access to some funds, if you don’t mind?”

“please don’t ask for my consent,” she said dipping her eyes in a perplexed sort of way, Arnav listened to her silently admiring her loyalty to him and his choices till this day. Change had unsteadied her it was understandable.

“Moving forward Mr Raheja sahab joh chahe, joh kahe.“ (whatever sir wants, whatever he requests”)

“I’m afraid I have to ask your permission Mrs Raizada by law, your signage please mam.” Said Raheja as he took paper and pen towards Khushi. Arnav simply watched quietly his arms rested on the spine of the sofa casually knowing of his wife’s discomfort.

Khushi barely scanned one or two words and signed off the cheque. Better this embarrassing moment be over with she thought.

Arnav thanked the gentleman and Hariprakash to leave the room for a moment.

His eyes and his time was for her now he watched Khushi walk to his side perch on the side of the sofa beside him.

“Kya sochenge woh, Hari prakash ne bhi dekha ..” she spoke of her worry and how this made her feel.

(“What must they think, even Hariprakash was watching”)

“They’ll be thinking Mr Raizada really truly loves his wife.” He says wrapping his hand around hers.

She’s not totally convinced but he had the last say on this.

“Sune .. aaj cauth hai..” (Listen today Is karva chauth)

“And ?” He raised his eyebrow because they’d discussed this already. He’d asked her not to fast because she’d fainted on two occasions now.

She hoped he’d softened on the mater but he really hadn’t from the look in his eyes. Somewhat disappointed she hid her true feelings however he saw through her.

Kuch nahin woh Jennifer ne vraat rakha hai NK ke liyey please don’t be late.

The way in which khushi dotted her eyes old Arnav that she wasn’t telling him the whole truth but he played along with it.

“Good well we’re both working from home today so that should be not problem” he replied.

Khushi smiled but her heart only knew how fast it had started beating, he was sure to catch her out on her fast now.

Arnav watched Khushi smile and then walk away to leave the room.

“You’re not fasting are you Khushi?”

She stopped in her steps, to a moment replied without turning to him.

“Ji nahin” she said quietly before leaving the room.

Stepping outside she took a deep breath and held on to her mangalsutra.

The day went on Khushi seemed to avoid Arnav and NK who had set up office at the poolside but he didn’t miss her in her passing, he noticed her whilst she applied mendhi and helped Jenifer apply hers. He noticed her flutter around the house ordering the decorators around, making traditional sweets for the occasion.

Evening had fallen sooner than one expected but the moon made all wait. NK in particular was keen to carry out the custom before Dadis return.

And so there they stood in the garden. Khushi in her red saari stepped Jenifer through the rituals whilst NK couldn’t stop looking at his watch and Arnav stood with his arms behind his back ready to bless the couple when they were done.

Jenifer made one or two mishaps but in the end the ritual was compete both took blessings from Arnav and hugged Khushi before rushed off to eat.

As the two of them stand under the moonlight Arnav folds his arms across his chest

“How do you intend on breaking this fast without me knowing then Khushi.?” His tone was stern his eyes very intent. There was a little of him that was annoyed she could see and a little that gave away to her love.

“Nahin socha” she whispered without looking at him.

He stepped a little closer .. pulled her saari over her head the way she would have done whilst in front of the moon every year.

“Well go on then” he says with his deep brown eyes and beaten down adamance, he let her off this once.

They ate together as one family, there was laughter, there was warmth Payal joined as did Akash and Pari and shyam too and when Dadi arrived Hariprakash took her bags and sat her down alongside the family.

Khushi and Arnav eyed each other and Arnav introduced Jenifer as a work collegue for the time being.

Family peace for this evening was above all. The rest could wait till the morning.

....

The next morning at the breakfast table, Khushi eyed Arnav as she moved around plates on the table and Arnav looked over his paper at her.

“There was a silent conversion which said Dadi is on her way, pick the right moment please and keep your calm.”

Soon as dadi approached the table khushi took her blessings whilst Arnav wished her good morning.

As the family began to take their seats, Hp had bought post to the table.

As expected the majority of letters were for Arnav but there was one or two for Dadi.

As she opened an the contents of one obviously disturbed her.

In that very moment Khushi happen to spill a little tea whilst serving the table and that felt like the cue for Dadis anger.

“She was never the right choice Arnav, meine pehle se hien kaha tha”

Arnavs eyes darken and the table goes silent. Akash takes pari away with him and there is pin drop silence.

“It’s just tea, mistakes happen” he says calmly and Khushi who is stood at the aids of the table apologises.

“Aur aisi galti ?” Dadi says throwing a photograph towards the head of the able.

Landing in front of Arnav with the likes of NK and Jennifer have seen it too he picks it up and takes a moment.

“Khushi leave the table please, his tone of voice remains calm”

Khushi doesn’t respond, too worried that whatever it was would escalate In her a sense she’s almost certain dadi has found something about Jenifer.

She could help the conversation make sure he stays calm. “NK, Jenifer” Arnav says and they leave on request. Arnav asks her once again.

“Khushi” yet she refuses again silently putting her hand on his shoulder. He took a internal sigh as Khushi took the photograph from him.

When she saw what it was her heart began to beat a uncomfortable pattern and her eyes tear up.

It was a image of Khushi with Shyam, a image at intimate proximity.

At a distance, Shyam looking on from a corner of the staircase is pleased with his ploy he’d taken revenge for Khushis mockery of his gift.

Next chapter

Jenifer walks into Arnavs room as he is stood alone staring into oblivion for a moment. “ She said she’s too ashamed to face you..” Arnav hears and closes his eyes for a moment painfully.

Fantastic! Would love to know how Arnav will react.

ah!khushi was expecting something against jennifer and it turned out to be against her.

khushi simply cant face him as she knows that he would have expected her to come to him in the first case
