Like in ZYK, Sana's character wasn't happy with a marriage that had been arranged without her consent when she was a child, and that very reasonable objection is the basis of her being a negative character. Even her mum constantly puts her down.

Yumna's character was nice, but being non-traditional and standing up for your rights doesn't make you a 'bad woman'.

I don't think I've ever seen an outright negative male in his dramas.

In my opinion, Zahid's character in ZYK was horrible because he doesn't take 'no' for an answer from Sana and then decides to get 'revenge' in a really disgusting way. However, the way the drama's written they try to say what he did is justified because Sana was a 'bad girl'.

Afzal is another character who couldn't take no for an answer, gets involved in petty crime, makes his father's life hell, and they still try telling the audience that he's good and Farah's the bad one.

Same with Mein Panjab Nahi Jaongi, Humayun's character in that is a complete uneducated thug, there's not a single good thing about him, but Mehwish's character is supposed to be the 'bad girl'. In that one, her character was actually good and they needed something to make her look bad so they showed her asking for a house to be put in her name.

I wish I could like this more than once lol. Once the shock of the drama ended for me, that's what I thought too, lol. What Sana wanted wasn't bad in itself.

There is a common theme with the way the men in these dramas "love". I almost stopped watching this one, because the relationship between Danish and Mehwish made me kind of uncomfortable. There's something oppressive in the way he loves her and I didn't enjoy some of his dialogues to that effect. Ignoring the fact that Mehwish is a completely awful person, Danish doesn't trust her either and he's made her the beginning and end of his world. Surely a healthy relationship involves trust between each other and healthy communication and wanting to support each other. This is so one-sided. And it's a common theme. I love you, and I am going to shove this love at you even though you want a little space from me.

In ZYK, Sana's boyfriend got 'punished' but there was this sympathetic undercurrent to it that they didn't give Sana. The only good and pure thing in that drama was the relationship between Yumna and her dad.

I agree about Danish being possessive but Mehwish always got her way with him so he was not suffocating her although he is a bit cheesy and irritating

I think he started losing trust from the point where she decided to go to the market with the neighbor (forgot his name) ..and then when she started dancing with Shawar..this disturbed him deeply although his behaviour after was not sane

I remember Zara Yaad Kar .. Sana's character was mean to the guy and she was also very selfish ...although she had the right reason to back out from her marriage with him ...i dont think she went about it the right way ..i dont remember fully but she also almost tries to marry her boss who is already married but then his first wife comes there and beats Sana up

I absolutely get what you're saying. Danish does come across oppressive, he seems to believe that if Mehwish can't be happy living a frugal life she doesn't appreciate his love. And he keeps using this as a weapon to silence her when she expresses her desire for a wealthier life, which isn't fair at all.

In the first few episodes, it seemed like before marrying Mehwish he promised he'd give her everything she ever wanted. Now he's stuck in a dead-end job and she's clearly dissatisfied with the life he's providing. Before meeting Shahwaar she says she wants to work so they can send Rumi to school and Danish stops her.

Despite knowing that Mehwish wants a better lifestyle, Danish isn't seen doning anything to find better work. I don't think they ever indicate Danish has tried looking for better work to give his wife and child a better life, and yet he claims to love her so much and keeps saying he can do anything for her.

Danish's mantra seems to be I either stick to this job and my love makes up for our financial situation, or you force me to disrespect my dead dad's memory and take rishwat. It's emotionally manipulative because either way, Mehwish is the bad guy. She's either an ungrateful wife for not appreciating her husband's love and making do with a poor lifestyle, or she's a greedy, pushy woman who is forcing her husband to disrespect his father's memory and partake in illegal work.

Danish isn't brought to account at all for not taking his role as the 'breadwinner' seriously, and looking for other legal and better-paid work. He's the one who says we either make-do with our finances as they are or I take on illegal work, not Mehwish. So as far as work and money are concerned he's the one in the wrong, not Mehwish.

Mehwish is no angel, but I think she's a product of her environment. Danish does have a hand in the bad choices she's now making. That doesn't excuse her infidelity, but her infidelity doesn't excuse Danish's lax attitude towards providing for his family either.

I also think it's interesting that people aren't calling Shawaar out. He's the real negative character here. He's a complete player, pulling Mehwish in is a game to him. He's going to use her and dump her.

There is no justification for what mehwish did.

She is doing what person with no skills or education will do, her way of earning is non ethical period. Millions of people earn money to improve their life style by doing hard work because they are hardworking.

I agree with all your points specially about Danish ... He has made no attempts to change their financial situations ..it is difficult to get a new job or even start a business but his only solution to this is to take bribe or live on the income he has .. But he has not looked at other possibilities. He promised to keep Mehwish happy and he is trying

But nothing can justify Mehwish's actions...she could have work earlier but had used Rumi as an excuse not to ...there are many things she could have done from home if she wanted to be more stable and support her husband... and If she was not happy with Danish she could have left him..there is no excuse for infadelity... She is taking an easy way out ...she latched onto the first rich guy who gave her attention ..most importantly she is forgetting about her son in all this ...thats just not done
