Like in ZYK, Sana's character wasn't happy with a marriage that had been arranged without her consent when she was a child, and that very reasonable objection is the basis of her being a negative character. Even her mum constantly puts her down.

Yumna's character was nice, but being non-traditional and standing up for your rights doesn't make you a 'bad woman'.

I don't think I've ever seen an outright negative male in his dramas.

In my opinion, Zahid's character in ZYK was horrible because he doesn't take 'no' for an answer from Sana and then decides to get 'revenge' in a really disgusting way. However, the way the drama's written they try to say what he did is justified because Sana was a 'bad girl'.

Afzal is another character who couldn't take no for an answer, gets involved in petty crime, makes his father's life hell, and they still try telling the audience that he's good and Farah's the bad one.

Same with Mein Panjab Nahi Jaongi, Humayun's character in that is a complete uneducated thug, there's not a single good thing about him, but Mehwish's character is supposed to be the 'bad girl'. In that one, her character was actually good and they needed something to make her look bad so they showed her asking for a house to be put in her name.

I've only seen bits and pieces of these dramas.

But the only time female leads are 'good' in his dramas is if they're stereotypically traditional and completely sacrificing themselves for a man, or going along with the male lead. Otherwise, she's negative.

Same. But now theres more competition compared to back then and people are saying the timeslot is not working out for the show either. Plus people are not liking the main leads.

There are some medical loopholes too. I think pehle wala was more reliable
