Deep in the night at my end of the world, so I will keep my observations to a couple of bullet points. Have been meaning to write about this a while.
1. I was aware of Season 1, say a couple of episodes back in the day and knew that Mr. Bajaj was based on Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre, so I liked him right away. I adore Mr. Rochester. Don't know if that was intentional on Ekta's part or if it came down through Rochester being such an archetype of being a woman's idea of a majestic man, but there you have it. When I heard KSG was going to be on this season, I decided to watch from his entry day. He was relatively good in QH though the long hair there didn't suit him. I am glad he cannot run roughshod here with Ekta and she dictates how Bajaj should look because it is the best I have every seen him look. A few years has really added to his face. He has really matured as an actor too, so watching the Indianized Rochester has been a pleasure. The fact that Rocheser was written by an actual genius is the reason why Mr. Bajaj's character comes across as the one with the most depth lol. Mr. Bajaj is a novel archetype by Charlotte Bronte, but a soap writer creation. If anyone is not aware of Jane Eyre, I highly recommend the book!
2. Prerna really made strides toward Bajaj today. There was no discussion of Kukki when Bajaj talked about their relationship. He was talking more about being husband and wife and she didn't seem to mind. The way she looked at him in newfound awe made it seem like her admiration of him grew. Bajaj's long-game really is paying dividends here lol. He did say to Anurag he can beat him at his game. And in typical big brother style, he beat little brother without playing the game at all.
3. There was a lot of discussion about Prerna's pregnancy. I know soaps don't get timing right, but I think it's still too soon for her. She has been married less than a month and she found out she was pregnant right before her wedding to Bajaj. You don't look pregnant until month 3 and for a thin woman like Prerna, it's more like month 4-5.
4. Can we please talk about how adorably scruffy Bajaj is until the jail lights? KSG is gifted in the hair department. Just a gorgeous face. It doesn't hurt that he emotes a lot better than before too, he's very controlled and all of it works for the character. I mentioned this before, I still find the depth to which he gets a serious character like Bajaj very amusing - esp. because KSG comes across completely bouncy and extroverted. I can see why he gets paid the big bucks these days.
5. Bajaj and Prerna are similar looking characters in their presentation from the start. She matched him before marriage. It probably has to do with the very traditional look both characters have. It is very complimentary. The CVs did a great job with that.
