Amitabh Bachchan bags Dadasaheb Phalke award

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has been selected for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke awards, the government has announced.

Making the announcement, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said, "The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him

Congratulations. Well deserved.

Usually people who get this (life time achievement) award are retired, but he is still so relevant.

I just looked at the list of recipients. Actually Amitabh should have got it before Pran, Gulzar, Shashi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna. But better late than never.

Like a cat he got 9 lives. Panama cleanly brushed under the carpet along with countless other tax ghapla's he did. Its an art to be in good books of every government by hook or by crook. Inspiration.

He might be the most corrupt. But this is not a Magsaysay award given to those who do social service. This is for his achievements in Indian movie industry. Is there anything you can comment on his craft at this point (when he is getting this award)?

Every time associating awardee to the government would disrespect the award and its earlier recipients. Were people like Gulzar and Shashi Kapoor also were in good books of governments that they got this award?

Last I checked Dada Saheb Phalke award is given to the artists who have contributed the most towards the film industry in India....Its very well deserved in that context! All these other complaints, you have to take up on some other platform!

They usually give it to the dying celebs.
