Bigger issue was Karan couldn't execute the idea of Infdelity,moreover people couldn't seem to understand why they Rani and srk character cheated.

Largely don't understand abhi was a good husband what was problem of rani or srk have residual anger issue but Preity was supportive so he had no reason.

Characters are unlikeable , and it's complex to show it on screen and sometime understand too.

The worst part of it was they actually showed SRK and Rani booking a room to sleep with each other. That too bcoz SRK was jealous that Rani's husband Abhishek was kissing her. How weird is it! Karan is messed up and it reflects in all his films. Even his ADHM was messed up 🤢

Because KJo doesn't seem to have the emotional depth required to portray a subject like infidelity.

just before dev takes off his tshirt, the focus is on his fingers... the wedding ring gleams. a very tiny but essential scene.the wedding ring should have reminded him of his wedding vows.maya n dev destroyed the sanctity of marriage with their such lusty selfish act. yes maya n devs story is a lust story. love knows to wait for right time. yes husband wife can grow apart. get divorced then go do whatever u want. but till ur married, at least live the relationship with honesty, at least their spouses deserved this much respect from them. after maya n dev realized they want to be together for the rest of their lives.. they should have just walked up to their spouses n asked for release in the form of divorce. then gone ahead.so I dislike the movie.

however, I do believe in that important line that if ur not happy from inside ur self u cannot bring happiness in others life either. so its better to separate one day than die together in an unhappy relationship everyday. if only maya n dev had divorced first, I could gave respected them.....

Infidelity type subject needs someone as a director who can potray sensitive topics without judgement or glorifying. Kjo glorified it. In 19 the century RN Tagore wrote a better pieces on infidelity aka chokher Bali n Nashtanirh. Satyajit Ray directed Charulata based on Nashtanirh. These were actually even more critical topics .

In chokher Bali a widow n her best friends husband have an affair while the best friend is a very good person. Tagore doesn't try to justify it.he rains fair to all Characters. Nashtanirh aka Charulata is about a lonely wife falling for her brother in law who is nearer to her age n understands her intellectually. Here too neither tagore not ray goes biased or judgemental.

Kjo see ye nahi ho payga in any way. He'd either make the adulterous couple villain or soulmates 😂

It was not all of a sudden. The movie had an 8 year leap after Dev breaking his leg. Priety was not judgemental about it but Dev felt insecure because if his wife being more successful than him. Dev had flaws, big flaws, and he even got punishment for his deeds.

It is not about 1 day or 8 years...the whole point is preity’s character did not do anything wrong...stk’s character’s liaison with Rani was cheating...not glorified soulmate love...and that is why it didnot click with the audience..,that was the original w of this topic which I was trying to answer

It is not really necessary that ppl fall out of love because there is something wrong in their partners.. and I don't think Dev ever really loved Rhea.. he was quite dismissive about his love for her even before the accident

Yes cheating it was.. which was terrible.. but that does not essentially mean Maya was not his soulmate.. after all, they both were douches so they were in a way perfect for each other

@bold...if he didn’t ever really love her...which was never depicted in the movie but still if that was the argument in srk or kjo’s head then this is even more terrible...lol...pyaar nahi hai par procreate kar liya preity kry saath...phir conveniently ek soulmate outside of marriage find kar liya...I mean seriously lol...I don’t have words to explain this ridiculousness if that was the reason...again it comes back to faulty screenplay...n hence back to the original q...this is why it didn’t click with the audience...boo to all the cheaters
