Oh lovely gifs, Fary :) Seems like a very emotional scene....

Re: Patiala Babes.....lol I have SO much to say.....but I'm still catching up on the epis.

So many characters and scenes are worth writing essays on.....I haven't seen a show on ITV managing to execute so many shades so well in a while now......there's the usual shades and storylines of angst, emotions, typical situations.....and then there's this show which has managed to successfully weave the lives of it's characters together in such a convincing manner so that one scene leads to another convincingly.....not in a contrived setup manner that is stock for ITV now.

Most shows these days do token feminist characters and viewpoints for one off scenes like they're checking something off a list to cater to sponsors and so called "woke" social media clicks.....and then there is this show that has properly explored empowerment and feminism in such a wholesome picture....from the POV of a whole host of characters.

Heck, even the "other woman" character was so brilliantly portrayed that you feel for WOMANKIND overall.....and not in a BECHARI fashion....how many shows even manage to do that these days?

And I haven't even begun to talk about the character of Hanuman Singh....the story genuinely picks up from the point he's introduced into the story and the world of characters that comes in with him.....Naeem Bi especially. All of the characters have such solid conversations.....the dialogues are THOUGHTFULLY written out and so compelling that they pull you into a scene.

All shows these days are so hung up on doing the token love story gimmicks.....somehow this show has managed to rise above it all and craft such a beautiful, slowly built up evolved story of relationships.....it isn't just a token love story and everything built around it.....every single relationship is so subtly and sweetly evolved....it's taken nearly 200 episodes for the love story to even slowly get to the point it has.....because it's been built through simple, subtle interactions.....kuch OTT dikhava nahin....it's a throwback to old world simpler tropes that are non-existent on TV now.....I'm still amazed ki kisi ne aisi story ko exist karne diya TV pe in today's times where only trash sells.....

NBT tried to do the story of a single mother but because the kids were younger and the ML was this brusque, careless kind of character, somewhere the show lost sight of what could be built in terms of a new family unit forming and devolved in the course of doing the angsty love story......but PB has managed to go where NBT didn't....because Mini is 17 and much older than Nanhi and interacts with her mom differently...even though her Daadimaa bossy ways remain the same....lol....the way Hanuman-Mini-Babita's world is being built together is just so emotionally satisfying and feel good.....they come at it as three EQUALS despite the age differences.....the back and forth, the conversations, the support....they are evolving all of them as individuals as well as their relationships with each other and with every little character in the show.

Sab kuch hai show mein....we have the bromance with Hanuman and his constable Lalit Mohan....LOL....we have the evolving father-daughter like dynamic of Hanuman and his Veer Balika Mini....we have the ever so slowly and subtly building love between Hanuman and "Daughter ki Mother" Babita....lol....so many phrases in the show have taken hold.....fabulous writing....and the actors have delivered them so well.

I should stop now.....lol I can keep yapping otherwise.

That sounds amazing i will start watching too caz now am really really excited. You know around what time should i start or from where caz the starting of the show was kinda blahh and 200 odd episodes are lil too much to catch up on and just give a lil synopsis of you could 😛😊

Also i am never tired or annoyed by your essays infact they always makes things a lot more pleasent and enjoyable for me

And yes dear comrade is sooo good but now bollywood will ruin it with ishaan most probably in this one too it is like the kapoor brothers have khaooed kasa to ruin deverakonda's films and chracters as he isn't willing to redo his own characters even for this KJO repirtedly offered him a very hefty amount and vijay so blu5ubtly denied hahah in the IC with anupama too he is like dude i have lived with the character for 6 months or so invested my time and all and no am not doing the same thing again because it is super boring and i'd rather do something that is new and exciting .lol but kjo is trying super hard to get all the popular south faces now esp the self made ones like vijay he tried so hard to somehow get vijay onboard for kabirsingh too but then too vijay went no thankyou i don't even watch my films caz they get boring when i spend so much time on sets and know everything before hand and now this. GOSH I HATE KJO MORE AND MORE WITH EACH DAY PASSING and his new breed of talentless kids first sairat now dear comrade sure🙄🙄🙄🙄

On kjo i mean he tried to claim prabhas so badly and till date tries to take the credit of prabhas becoming a pan india star that despite super terrible reviews saaho is dping magnificently well everywhere because it is not the film as such it is prabhas people want to watch and that includes me but kjo is salty and with rajeevmasand's iv was constantly going nobody gives me credit oh well credit for what? Rajmouli made baahubali not you so🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ however i do feel we ought to thank him for bringing baahubali on world platform by backing it but now just stop being despo kjo and you aren helping your cause by ruining everything that is dear to us the south indian fandom esp in case of dear comrade, jersey etc every telugu films that is strong scriotwise that is breaking stereotypes you want to claim it is only going to make us dislike you more.

I highly suggest ypu watch dear comrade and jersey before bollywood kills these with Kapoor brothers. It is like shahid career is entirely thriving on telugu remakes now and ughhh i hate him too now

Sorry this became a rant i got carriedaway and i had to let it go

Haha even I didn't think I would manage to catch up to 200 odd epis but once I got into it, I couldn't stop watching.....whole last week I've spent binge-watching this....can't remember the last time a show hooked me like this😆

If you want to start watching, this is a good point to begin.....it's essentially Hanuman Singh ka entry scene - his first meeting with Mini and Babita and the turn the story takes from there as he offers to give them a room on rent.

https://www.sonyliv.com/details/episodes/5982598422001/21-December-2018---Patiala-Babes---Bitter-Truth

Synopsis mein bolun toh.....basically it's a journey about Babita's empowerment....how she evolves from a broken woman to a strong woman, finding her voice, her independence in the face of many setbacks in a world intent on subjugating a woman.....it's the story of Mini, daughter so fiercely protective of her mother that she grapples with trying to be a teenager as well as a mother to her own mom....it's the story of Hanuman Singh, who has a chance encounter with a fierce kid and her mother, feels the need to offer them support when no one would and from there begins a journey of motivation, encouragement, empowerment, attachment, and a whole range of emotional hues. There's many other characters, many other layers to discover as the story unfolds. There's Hanuman's late wife Imarti whom he fondly remembers and quotes as an ideal for why he respects women and wants to uplift them, give them independence.

Yeh sab ek taraf aur Hanuman Singh ka adorable lingo ek taraf....lol it just grows on you and stays with you....his Hindi-English mix with Haryanvi words.....haha

A main stand out scene that I'd say kinda fully hooked me enough to invest in the journey is in this epi.....at 11:25 or so....it's after Hanuman resigns from his job rather than throw Mini-Babita out of his house.....he talks to Mini about his principles, Imarti, and how his own viewpoints in life evolved towards women and how they should be treated.

https://www.sonyliv.com/details/episodes/5985680712001/3-January-2019---Patiala-Babes---The-Resignation-

Hanuman Singh is a FIERCELY principled police officer in the story....he will go toe to toe with anyone over what he feels is the honorable thing to do. At the same time, he can be remarkably dorky with his friends like that Laale of his....haha....

One of my fav. things in the story early on was the way he'd avoid eye contact with Babita and look to the front or side while talking to her....arms behind his back....lol it was a remarkably adorable trope that they continued for quite a while....both him and Babita would talk to each other THROUGH other people....never directly.....haha....like I said, they are an adorably old school story....aisi kahaaniyaan black and white movies ya old Doordarshan shows mein milti thi ages ago.....before ITV got hopelessly tackified.

So see if you feel like watching after these couple of epis....or I can recommend some more of my fav. stand out scenes :P

P.S. I'll just add that one thing I always wanted to see explored in NBT but never got to see was the phase of Nanhi needing time to reconcile to the fact that Mohan loved her mother......wahaan toh overnight acceptance kar di......which I found unrealistic even then and rushed.

But in PB, they've actually so extensively explored every little phase of emotion in such a human manner.....every perspective, where that perspective is coming from....the emotional back and forth....it's beautifully done.

This all seems so lovely AY!:) especially the fact they showed her reaction to a man loving her mother because i too always felt that deserved alot more attention in nbt then total acceptance immediately and a shipper mode. Will definitely catch up with this show after my vacation! My mother watches this show it turns out haha she told me yesterday and it's rarely that my mom ever watches any show the last i remember her watching intently was thoda hai thode ki zaruraat hai and aur phir ek din wala time😂 she toh said even the gf wala character was fine only not the usual vamp but in her own way dignity thi.

But i do like mini and her dada ji who encourages her.

Hanuman was sweet in that epi and nikalooing juggad for no FIR yet punishing the criminal

But mini ki babes babes will take its time to grow on abhi odd lagta hai ek dum and thoda extra but i really liked the chemistry and bonding between mother and daughter and babita's failed tries to convince mini that her brother cares for her

Yeah, that was Meeta's character....I was saying the same thing in a previous post....it was remarkable how beautifully they showed her character....typical vamp toh door ki baat hai, they HUMANIZED her....showed what led to her making the choices she did, feeling regret, guilt like a regular human being......in some ways, it was a bit reminiscent of Saans....that famous Neena Gupta show which also showed the other woman in a humanized manner.

And Meeta's arc really deserves to be watched in this show.....honestly the magic in this show is in the build up....all little scenes build up to high points so convincingly....not like typical garish high voltage trashy way of ITV shows......Meeta as a character is just shown to be incredibly lonely and wanting to connect with the people in her life....she's otherwise this modern, cosmopolitan woman but she doesn't look down on people for the sake of it....she genuinely tries to empathize with everyone.....conversely, she is even willing to face abuse or look past it because she so desperately loves the wrong man.....and this angle is EXPLORED fully....people have long conversations about it in the show from various perspectives as situations evolve....that is what made it so gripping to watch......you felt for everyone....the shattered Babita, the traumatized Mini, the guilt-ridden Meeta.....all these women, so many shades......it was so interestingly explored.

Re: NBT v/s PB....ek toh I guess Nanhi was an 8 year old kid....so her thought process was simplified for convenience....secondly, Amar was revered...so Mohan's issue was about living up to his legacy in some ways......while in PB, it's much more complex....Mini is a 17 year old girl who firsthand witnesses the abuse her father unleashes on her mother....verbal, mental abuse....what it does to her mother....and that makes Mini extra protective and averse to any form of love entering her mother's life again....because she feels love only gave her mother pain and inevitably led to breaking her.....her mother's vulnerability is her achilees heel.....that is why she struggles with learning of Hanuman's love for her mother.....she's spent so long taking care of her emotionally vulnerable mother, of helping her move past old traumas, that she doesn't want her mother to have to deal with that again.....any man's love....even a man she so reveres.....and it's so understandable when you look at it from a child's perspective who's seen her mother go through such horrible trauma.

What makes it all extra beautiful is how Hanuman finally has that conversation with Mini and explains to her that he fully understands why she feels the way she does.....her protectiveness for her mother is something he finds aspirational because he could never manage to do it for his own mother who was abused by his father when he was a child......the scene needs to be watched to see how lovely the conversation is.

Anyways, I won't spoil it for you but all of this is way further down the line in the story.....lol if you start watching from the link, I posted, there's a lot that happens in this journey before we get to the point of Mini finding out about HS ka love for Babes.

LOL I should have given you some more backstory for that link.....waise toh they will keep showing a lot in FBs in future episodes, toh idea ho jaayega. I didn't get to watching those first 20 epis again cuz it's extended rona dhona about Ashok and his tamaashe....I wanted to get past that to the point when Mini-Babita actually start to pick up the threads of their life and move forward.

Anyways, basically synopsis is that they find out that Ashok (Babita's first husband) had been living with another woman in London for many years and he declares that he doesn't love Babita so Mini takes Babita and they leave the house.....then they try to go and stay with Babita's brother but his wife is pregnant and cranky and seems resentful of having to deal with her SIL in the house, so Babita's brother ultimately tells them to leave.....they try to find a house on rent but the rental agent Khatri turns out to be a super creep who tries to molest Babita....so Mini THRASHES the hell out of him😆....like LITERAL thrashing...she broke his friggin arm.....ROFL.....she's basically a Karate black belt so she beats up a lot of people in this show😆

Khatri essentially then blacklists MB and they aren't able to find a house on rent anywhere.....that is when Hanuman offers his haveli to them and they end up accepting cuz there is no other option.....that's a fun scene when they make a list of Pros and Cons on a whiteboard in his police station😆

I would suggest that you watch aage ki story cuz there is still a LOT to get through.....Babita's struggle with work, jobs, the eventual divorce....all of this has a lot of extensive build up that is worth investing in more than going back to watch the early epis.
