Maybe she wants boys cause she doesn’t have any brother? But wanting both to be boys even I am questioning this

It is normal for people to have preference in wanting girls or boys. But as everyone else said it so eloquently in a society like India it was a stupid idea for her to announce it. It promotes patriarchy and the mistreatment of girl child. It also completely undermines all her talk about girl empowerment and equality. This whole video has been a mess. She also gives lectures about the environment and yet they wasted a whole drawing book by writing one answer per page. IMO she’s lost so much credibility because all her activities and talks for social causes seems very PR driven now.

Also someone mentioned brothers, she does have an older brother.

She is getting married in the 'kapoor family' and kapoor family is still biased towards son.. may be thats the reason..

As a figure that people look up to and is able to have her statements reach many people, I find it just so irresponsible to say such a thing when newborns are being killed because of being a girl like by being suffocated or thrown down a well to drown , women are being forced to get pregnant and have abortions sometimes multiple times if it's a girl in their womb and they are beaten and have to run away to save themselves and their child etc. People should just hope that their baby is born healthy rather then the gender. We are in 2019, having a girl child should not have to still be seen as a disadvantage. Disappointed in Alia. Seems like a harmless comment at first but it seems like she is ignorant to what is going on outside her bubble.
