I think that poem is trying to symbolize an Indian women, about how despite the social and personal bonds, they still achieved so much.
But sab ki apni soch, agar kisi ko yeh sexist ya demeaning lag rahi hai toh, kiya kar sakte hai.

I am actually conflicted on how to feel about the message this is sending out. On the one hand, the feminist in me hates that these women are being reduced to sindoor and mangalsutra. On the other hand, I like that this movie is about average married Indian women making history. There are barely any good movies made on the average married Indian woman. The last good one I could think of was English Vinglish. So, I do appreciate that the focus of this film is on this very often neglected group.
What a crappy photo. No one is wearing Sindoor.

well I thought it was based on reallife mission! Supposedly the women were just "administrative personnel".. Maybe they made this film just by seeing this photo.. haha

Yes, I have! Not sure how I forgot that one. I loved Tumhari Sulu. English Vinglish and Tumhari Sulu are the two recent good ones. Are there others?
sulu was such a sweet film. J actually felt for both sulu n her husband. He showed a really good guy who loves his wife wants to support her but societal pressure gets to him at times. Such people r relatableOriginally posted by: Chameli_billi

goinar baksho is a pretty good film in that topic too no?Originally posted by: janta-janardhan
And if you're into regional films, I would definitely recommend this bengali film to everyone. A really good film based on housewives but this time between a mother in law and daughter in law.

That is the issue na? Would a perfectly competent unmarried scientist who helps in a mission as big as this be included in the symbolism of an Indian woman?
I think poem is taking sindoor, Kangaan and so on as symbolism, it isn't considering that only who wear this are Indian women or women as a whole.
But that is my perception, tujhe offend kar raha, toh it's okay, it is within your rights to get offended.
How much mock sanathana dharma for its treasures n down play India achievements n mock , nothing changes , it shows d jealous souls just can't take it n getting burned in India success tats all lol , it's prob of burning souls lol
Disappointed! I get it that they wanted to focus on the fact that then women behind this mission were normal married women successfully handling multiple responsibilities and want to make it relatable, but the over glorification was not needed. Millions of women marry each year, do they all launch satellites? If marriage and sindoor and kajal is all that is needed to launch satellites, 99% of Indian women would have launched one. It's not their sindoor which has enabled them to launch satellites, it's their education, knowledge, discipline and dedication. Yeah having supportive husband or in laws is definitely great, but it can't be the reason for what women accomplish in their career. Their achievements are based on their merit, not their marital status. So no it shouldn't be "ye sindoor door tak jaayega" , it should be "ye mehnat aur lagan door tak jaayegi".
