Other thing is constant blabbering to watch it on TV to increase trp. They don't know exact procedure how trp is calculated. See trp boxes are installed on selective TVs all over India, somewhat 30-40 thousand and if others watch it, that won't be counted.

It's no longer only 30 -40 thousands houses pan India now. It's more than 3-4 lakhs now

Secondly with digitalisation, there is some change in the outlook the channel being watched can actually be monitored, although they don't contribute to the TRP yet those data are important for making other decisions

No no it is 44000 to be exact.

Second part seems to be mere speculation than concrete, it may turn out in future but currently not in action.

To the best of my understanding , its not just TRP alone. Sponsorship , advertisements etc are also factors contributing to the profit that the channel and the PH gets. So , even if the TRP is high and there isnt sponsor or advertisements etc...then it wont be profitable to the channel.

Because every show is a product and they need to sell that product and get that profit margin , else running the channel itself will be difficult.

Am just waiting to see what Sony's decision will be. The way serial is progressing doesnt look like they intend to extent. Season 2 I am not sure..., if there was something like that then they would have had a press release ....but we never know its too early to judge. And one reason thats making me think is , why would a PH redesign the entire set just for couple of months of episodes. That wouldnt be profitable for them. Before they do something like that I am sure they would have got concurrence from the channel.....well all these are just thoughts... I guess we will get to know in another week or two.

Obviously those are bigger parameters but sponsorship, advertisement are all the practically the derivatives of TRP. No one will put their advertisement on a show with low TRP and despite the fact that the TRP sets are in very few houses that remains the biggest proof of viewership as on date
