I don’t think survival is under question after the kidney transplant since that was the affected organ for now. And lupus is a chronic diseaae but not necessarily a life threatening one, unlike cancer.

You haven't seen this movie? Would suggest you do watch it. A very emotional movie by Hrishikesh Mukherjee

An old movie of Amitabh Bachhan, Ashok Kumar n Jaya Bhaduri. Jaya(Mili) daughter of Ashok Kumar was a happy go lucky chirpy college girl who always loved to play pranks talk endlessly and so on. Enters Amit sir's character who was very grumpy and always drunk gloomy from inside because his father had divorced his mother claiming adultery of the latter and Amit sir's character had since the childhood heard the taunts of being the child of an awaara woman.

Mili n this character (calling Amit since I don't remember the name) meet both having contradictory nature gave their tit bits which slowly turn into friendship and finally Mili is able to bring Amit out of his shell. They become friends and Amit now happily interacts with others plays with kids etc.

This is when Ashok Kumar gets the news that Mili has last stage cancer with zero survival chances. Even after getting to know about this Mili doesn't change her attitude. She asks her family not to tell anything about this to Amit fearing that such a brutal news would cause a breakdown for Amit and he again go back to his shell n drinks.

But as the fate has it Amit gets to know about the truth by one of Mili's doctors who happened to be an acquaintance of Amit. But instead of getting back into his depression he decides to become a support for Mili n family and starts looking for any possible chance of Mili's survival. He gets to know about a doctor in US who his researching on remedy for last level cancer although he too didn't have any good news at his end till date. But Amit feels it to be the last hope and decides to cling onto it. He asks for Ashok Kumar's permission. He says that he would marry Mili n take her to US. Ashok Kumar is not sure and leaves the decision onto Mili. Mili has lost all her hopes but Amit says that just as she brought him out of his depression and withdrawal symptoms, he would bring her out of this deadly decease. They marry and leave for US.

The movie ends here with the entire family including Ashok Kumar and his sister (Mili's Bua who had raised her) watching the plane leave knowing that Mili would never return now

I do watch most of the Hindi movies ..But I did watch very few old movies..Thanks for the suggestion..Will watch this😃👍🏼
