True. Arnav and Khushi are right in their own ways. Just that there is still time for everyone to understand each other views. Khushi has to come out of it. Life isn't a fairy tale for everyone na.

Chapter 18

Dil se Dil tak

AMAN calling. Khushi closed her eyes, pressed her locket and received his call finally on 5th ring. She knew she avoided him for long time. The thoughts of Arnav and his presence had preoccupied her from last 1 week.

“Hey I am really sorry, for not receiving your calls. Last few days I was literally busy with demo and then got busy in flat shifting. I was ..”

“Khushi, it’s totally ok. I can understand. I was just thinking, if you were not willing to talk to me. Kahi reject karne ke irada to nahi hai karke” Aman sarcastically made a remark.

“(option bhi to nahi hai reject ka…she murmers within) No, NO. I was very busy last week. New place, new work “

“Yeah. It takes time to get adjust with everything. So all settled? Howz shanghai?”

“It’s good. Very difficult thou, but I am loving it. “

There was a moment of silence between the two of them. It was their first phone call. Even though khushi was more of talkative nature,she was bit conscious while talking with Aman. She was pretending to be more mature, silent, an exact opposite of her nature.

“So when is your Shanghai project going to wrap up? I heard it’s of short duration? 2 months?”

“ Yeah. Max, it may stretch 3 months.” Khushi paused for a while. It was time for her to initiate next conversion. She needs to show interest from her side as well. So how’z your work going on?

“It’s good. Bit relaxed now after the go live. “

Aman wanted to come out of this formal discussion and wanted to open up more closely, but he thought to give khushi much required time and space.

“Actually Khushi, I wanted to discuss one more important matter and that’s the reason I was calling you many times”

Khushi held her breath. Important matter?

“Yes Sure. Tell me”

“One of my cousin marriage has got fixed suddenly. It’s after 20 days and I am being getting pressurized by family to come and attend.”

“Oh great. Congratulations. You should attend family functions“

“Yeah . thank you. “AMan paused. “mmm actually the problem is I cannot take more leaves. And I usually visit India just twice a year. I was next planning to visit for our engagement, may be after 4 months, after you come back to India. I guess our parents had a discussion on that?

“Yeah. My mother was saying they shall soon finalize with good dates”

“Ya. So the thing is, , Don’t mind, but If you can get leave , can we please have this ceremony around my cousin marriage? I know it will be soon, but together we shall work out. I haven’t yet discussed with my parents or else they might again discuss with your family too. I thought I would first discuss with you. If you are ok, I shall put in front of them”

“Oh. So sorry aman. But I really can’t get leaves now. Its very critical project and I am the lead for many modules to deal with. And its just 1 week I have come over here, it’s impossible aman. Hope you are understanding. “

“Yeah.I can understand, but if you could try it out with your managers..and if good dates come around weekend,then it would sort both of our problems”

“No AMan. I need to start working on weekends too. And even if its weekend, its not that easy for me to suddenly jump and come to venue place directly. I need to take care everything from my family behalf. There would be so many things. There would be dependency on me. Iam really sorry. But engagement only after I come back from shanghai. This is what I was even telling my mother. Please understand.” Khushi said firmly and confidently. She did not wanted any emotional drama at this stage. She knew her work was demanding her time and its now of prior importance.

“Jo hokum mere aka. No force. Let’s plan smoothly. Its life time event”

“Thanku”. Khushi was emotional. Things moving fast. We are already having this discussion on our engagement dates she thought..

“So what are you doing now? Office work?” Aman changed the topic. This is an initial phase and he did not wanted any unwanted differences coming up.

“Actually just now installed vpn, so I was planning to watch something. Movie or any serial .”

“English series?”

“Na.. Hindi. Just watch for the sake of ARnav ….“ Khushi did not complete her sentence. She suddenly stopped midway. For the first time she did not feel comfortable to tell about Arnav.

“oh yeah. How can I forget? . Your favourite serial and your fav actor!.When I came to see you, you just talked about Arnav for 15mins. I was so jealous”

“Really?”. Khushi started laughing “Yeah you do watch right?”

“Are you kidding, No No. I am miles far from all these tv serials, hindi movies etc..Dont prefer. It will be so boring. Not sure how you girls watch” So khushi was somehow relieved that he won’t be seeing any of entertainment news for sure. She again convinced herself why would Aman see that photo of her with Arnav. The photo anyway did not give clear identification of her.Stop thinking too much Khushi.

“Hey no comments haan about that serial. Actually you recognized him that day. Remember? , so I thought even you watch his serials or know something.”

“Arey No, Actually Arnav is “..Before he could complete the sentence, Aman gets an alert message from his office communicator” “Just 5mins khushi” .There was pause in between. Khushi was on line. She again refreshed the news section. She saw there was some new feed on Arnav. She clicked on it and her vpn server got down. “Oh shit.This vPN, takes too much of my data”

Hey khushi, Soo sorry. Shall we talk sometime later?. Have a quick meeting now”. If only they would have continued their previous discussion, Aman would have disclosed he is friend of Arnav.

“Yeah no problem. Bye” She hunged up the call. She felt relaxed keeping the call and dozed off.

Next day, Khushi tried to call sheetal from her office number. She was surprised to hear the number did not exist. She tried few times, and still it was same.She was getting worried. She dialled her amma number . Even amma suggested she was not able to reach Sheetal.

“I tried to call shyam ji, but he did not receive my call”. I tried Twice thou.”

“Is It? . Wait let me call jiju”

She tried to call shyam , but he was not receiving. Khushi was now actually getting concerned , hoping her sister and jiju should be fine. There were N thoughts of any accidents or mishap which were coming to her eyes. She prayed silently. Since she was bound by work pressure, she needed to focus on that with priority. She told her mother to keep trying and next call jiju’s parents if he did not receive by evening.

Her critical project delivery was keeping her lot busy in office. In a15 day term, she has to give a short demo of pre go live. She was extending alone late night work. Since Chinese employees strictly follow the rule of leaving on time, she was not able to tell them to extend and finish off the job. If this is case, Iam sure we won’t be able to give the first delivery. Khushi felt restless.

She thought to discuss with her current reporting manager Akash and Indian manager about the issue

India:

Sheetal kept looking at the clock. She was tensed and worried. It was already midnight and still shyam was not at home. Its midnight already and how could he go without informing me again. This time it was above her zone of patience.Upon that, she had lost her mobile. she repeatedly kept searching her mobile in her wardrobes, and every possible corner of her home, still in disbelief about how could she loose her mobile. She was sure she did not take it out. She cannot contact even shyam , not her mother.Not even call anyone. This was adding up to her frustration. She went to ask her in laws if shyam has said them anything about coming late. And as usual she gets taunt from her mother in law and this time it was again an outrageous statement from her.

“If men aren’t happy, then they start spending their night outside for too long”

Sheetal anger mounted high. She knew what she was taunting her, but she decided to be silent for its not worth speaking to them she thought.

“Dekho, she don’t even have anything to speak. Now days, she is showing off so much attitude. Few more days, then I would not have to see your face.Good, my son is going out!. Usai bhi tujsai chutkara milega!”

Sheetal suddenly stopped mid way and Entered back in their room , shocked, clueless, a sense of confusion in the last statement she heard..

“Going where? “

“HE did not tell you? “

Meantime, the door bell rang. Sheetal hurriedly went to open the door. There were lot of questions encapsulating her.The moment shyam stepped in, sheetal first started inquiring him about his whereabouts.

“Where were you? I was so much worried? Where are you going now days without even bothering to tell me anything?”

“I had said few days before na that I am going out for some important work. Itna kyu dimag kha rahi ho aate hi”

“What sort of work? You come so late daily, and I will be so alone. She paused suddenly .” and by the way where are you going? Maaji was saying you are going somewhere? “ There was reckless in her voice.

“hmm. For dubai. It’s not yet confirmed.”

“Dubai? And you did not even bother to tell me? And when was it all planned? “

“Arey aaj bata deta. Kal hi batana chahta tha. Kal tumhe bas apne mobile ki padi thi”. You were so worried about your lost mobile.

“but why suddenly? Your current job? What are you hiding from me? I am asking you daily why you are on so long vacation and you just brush it away saying you want to leave with parents for few more days.. and suddenly today you break this news? She goes near to him,there were tears which were ready to pop up at any time. She pleads him not to hide anything ,unsure of something, something she was getting fearfull of.

“ I have resigned from job. They were not paying me properly. I didn’t tell you, because I thought you may not understand and simply create big fuss”

“Resigned? And you were hiding it from me? Ok, But why you have to now go to dubai? There are so many companies in india , you could get a job anywhere

“To kya karu? There is huge loan on my head. You know maa ki condition. You don’t even give your bit of gold for me, pati ko nahi help karna chahthi? Not even your family is capable of helping? Bas muje achhi naukri milne waali hai waha. Isliye I need to go. Just matter of 6 months. I will earn money and come back.

She kept her hand on forehead and sat heavily on sofa. This was sudden shock for her. Unbelievable that shyam could also take such sudden decision without even consulting her and for part of his failure he was blaming her and his family. .

“Why are you dragging my family. See I will give my gold bangle now, you stay here. You search job here in India. Or else I will come wherever you are going”

“Pagal ho? Mere sath kaise aaogi .I won’t be having having place to stay and it’s just matter of 6 months. You can give your gold, but it will repay just 20% of loan. Ma ka operation mai itna expenditure aaya.

“I am not understating anything. What should I tell “ She started crying

“Dekho. I have to go . It’s good even for our future. I could save some money”Shyam decided to talk with her calmly.

Sheetal did not reply anything.

“Please thora mobile dijiye apna. I haven’t talked with amma from yesterday. Amma sai muje discuss karna hai.I did not still find my mobile” SHyam was bit uneasy suddenly. His facial expressions changed. “ Mera mobile repair ke liye diya. Raaste mai gir gaya tha”

She looked suspiciously at him. She was in different mindset. Anger engulping inside her. Shyam clichéd his finger. He has to contro lhis anger and now convince her he thought.

“Ok, I will stay in my parents home, till you come back”. Sheetal spoke when she was in agreeing terms with him of going dubai.

“pagal ho? You will stay there for 6 months? What do they will think of me? And above that, even your home situation is not good. You will have to stay in khushi’s’ salary? Have you seen your dad condition.Even your bua stays there. You want to become addition burden.It is so difficult. Aur upper sai sab yehi sochenge shyam is incabable ,tumhe maike chod diya.

“Koi kuch nahi sochega”. Muje yaha nahi rehna. If you are not there, I am not staying up here”

“Acha..muft mai khake ke rehnai sai acha hai, why don’t you start earning a bit?”

“Job? What has happened to you suddenly?Who will offer me job suddenly. And she started crying again

Shyam comes near to her and does the acting of consoling

“Dekho..Think wisely. I have to goat any condition. It’s not good to stay with your parents , their itself are not in proper state. , instead think of doing job. I have seen a job for you here at nearby village. Its teaching a kid and doing some cooking work. It’snot at all a bad job. I know you don’t want to stay here with my parents . So I have asked my friend to give some accommodation facility. Their family is good.You will be taken care nicely. Upon that they will give good salary . Jara socho. By earning you will help yourself and muje bhi thora help ho jayega from that earning. And its just matter of few months. See I don’t even money to give you new mobile. I am in so much burden and tension.

“you planned it so much and you didn’t even had a minute to discuss with me all these? All of sudden you are telling me today?”

“It all happened suddenly darling. Don’t cry sheetal. I thought hard about you sending to Bangalore. But when my friend family gave this option, I felt it to be so good. Just think over it. You just need to teach their kid. Plus accomadation free. Just some bond you need to sign that you will not leave your job during 6 months. Aaj hi sab final karke aaya hu. Ab dekho tumhari marji. Tumhe izzat sai rehna hai , ya kaise..” Shyamagain tried to change sheetal with his convincing words, words used for fooling people who could get trapped easily in another person emotions. One who don’t even bother to take otherwise action. Sheetal was again got convinced with shyam words. She could not just stay in her parents home for so long without even earning anything and it will be khsuhi who is taking care so much. They should not get extra tension because of me. Anyway I can teach for small kids. And offcouse in holidays I can go back to bangalore, she thaught.

Sheetal did not node anything and just slept with pillow on her face. Tears were flowing in her eyes, inconsistency in her life

“Maan gayi?” Shyam’smother asked when shyam came out of theroom

“Abhi to nahi. Maan jayegi.”

“Did you get the amount?”

“Abhi kaha. Acha I have talked with them, they will send monthly income to you. Ab tension na lena paiso ki”

“You are there na, why should I. ? When you will return, I will see nice girl for you. Chalo chutkar chala jayega iss sheetal ka.” His mother brushed inside her room saying this.

Shyam kept pulling his beard,planning his next step of action.

“Pam, did you see Arnav did not mention anything about our breakup in his tweet? He might have still have feelings for me?” lavanya said in her usual high drink mode.

“La darling, I have been telling you stop on thinking too much on ARnav.He might have not considered that importance. He won’t stand with you nether with anyone!. Didn’t he openly mentioned he won’t believe in idea of Love. F**K girl. Focus on your career.

“I never would Pam. I will never give on him. Iam just loving him more day by day ….That bitch with him I have seen that girl so many times. Why she is not leaving ARnav. With Arnav assistant gone, I cant even get any updates on Arnav now…I need all details on her? Its 3rd time I am seeing her with him” Lavanya suddenly started throwing up with heavy alcohol

Pam she tried to help her out. Took her to bathroom. After she threwed up, she managed to bring her to her bedroom.

“Look la, you are drunk too much. Take rest now. Will talk tomorrow ok?

Pam noticed , Lavanaya was only taking out Arnav name. She saw her bedroom which was just with sleeping pills, beer bottles. When Lavanya doezed off Pam dialled Arnav number

“Hello Arnav, Its me Pam. I want to meet you?”

“I will tell you once we meet? Important”

She cut the call when Arnav agreed on to meeting!.

“What’s up? Whose call is that? “ karan asks Arnav while sitting inside a restaurant.

“Pam! Don’t know what shit she wants to talk now” ARnav said while looking down at the food menu card, when he suddenly saw the name “Idly Sambar”in one of the menu section of south Indian food. He might have heard and even saw the recipe name many a times in menu card, but this time it fired him straight.

“I say you , She is one of the bitch,.Isnt she close to Lavanya.? Karan told Arnav who was lost in that 2 word recipe name.

“Kabhi idly wada sambar khake to dekhiye..Jannat hai. Didn’t you try? You should try once” Khushi’s word pierced into his. He closed his eyes and then opened again. Sometime the people who have digged into your soul and made a lasting impression will certainly not let you forget them easily. Arnav did not reciprocate his feelings or allowed to take it’s way, but he definitely liked her chirpys tyle. He remembered her facial expressions. Knowingly or unknowingly when you have fallen in love with someone, no matter how bad or how wrong or how incompatible the person seem,you cannot ignore them for long. You can hate them, but your heart will remind you always. .Remind you for that one soul who had touched deep beneath your heart and those fond memories when your heart enjoyed the other heart company and your eyes longed to see them even without your approval

He suddenly raised his head and looked at Karan.

“Did you tell something?”,

“You seem lost suddenly . I said , could it be regarding Lavanya? By theway you did not mention about your breakup in your statement?”

“For which one I need to anser? Your habit of asking too many questions at the same time irks me some time. Tum jaiso ki wajah sai pain balms are growing up in sales. Arnav gave sarcastic reply to his talkative friend.

“Achha !. I pray to god, you should get a wife who should eat , mash and grind your head into fine powder . Aise chabbar chabar walli biwi and I would be very happy to present you all the balms from the market..My curse for you” Karan giggled to his own silly joke , to which Arnav just raised his eyebrow and looked away.

“Ok baba. No marriage talks. Now please tell me? ”

“What? It was not of that importance to me!, I wanted to shut people mouth who were just talking the things on my attitude with fans.? People are far better to assume things when you say you don’t believe in love or you are not in love!. They would eventually understand my relationship with lavanya. People are smart”

“Wah! Ek tu hai..all girls want to fall for you,and ek mai hu…sab bhaag rahi hai…”

“Because you are too creepy on whomever you meet!. Stop running behind them! And act like you haven’t seen any girl sort of”

“yar shaadi ke liye koi manta nahi..This one night stand and all I am just tired! “

“You are happy because you not committed to anyone, once you are committed…you are dead!”

“Its beautiful thing. I want to get married. Have many kids..” Karan went into his dreamland

“Then I am sorry in advance for your demise. Karan malhotra Is dead!”

Waiter comes in and ask for the order.

“One dily sambar “. As arnav said blindly Karan came forward a bit and was looking at arnav eyes sarcastically.

“What?” ARnav asked.

“Did you just ordered Idly sambar? Are you ok? “

“Sorry Sir, We don’t have that for dinner today. It is available for breakfast”

“Sorry. It was just slip of tongue. Bring me Green salad and soup”

As waiter left after taking order from both, Karan was still staring at him. “It was by mistake”

“Something has changed.I am observing from day I came back!”

Arnav was staring at him. Did not bother to anser him.

“By the way you are still not answering who was that girl in the pic?Tumhari type ki to nahi lagi.”

“will you stop interrogating me!.”

“Zindagi bhar ka safar hai tere sath dost..aise na peecha chodunga..”

He swiftly rembered khushi ,to be same talkative like karan. “You know I met a person exact copy of you. Shayad Teri or uski jamti.“

“Who? A girl in the pic? She has become a mystery now for me. Media might forget., but ye tera dost nahi bhulega!. Raaz kholke rahunga!..Isnt she the reason behind ARnav ordering Idly sambar for dinner? Ye kaise ho sakta hai!.

“Stop now!. “ Arnav gave a furious look

Karan phone starts ringing. It was voice call from AMan. He talked for a while and then cut the call.

“Did you call out name Aman? “ Arnav asked

“haan. AMan yaad to hai na?”

“Offcourse. I met him recently at Airport and he pinged me twice. Just usual chat. I did not know you are in touch with him?”

“I am in contact with most of our mates. You have become star..Celebrity. I am not Mr ASR..”Karan teased him

“Shut up now.!. What was it? Why did he call?”

It was getting tough for khushi to manage the project with her counter parts hardly being productive. She was coming early to office and leave late. She knew lots of work has to be done for the first pre production release. She has to put extra effort and time she thaught. In between her work she dialled Sheetal number. Worried she dialled Shyam number, but he too did not receive.. She closed her eyes . She is not In india, not with her parents and working in such a critical project. She was hoping for smooth days. She kept praying everything should be fine. Her head was aching. She locked her laptop, rested her head back chair and closed her eyes. She opened her eyes. Lots of work she remembered..Her screensaver flaunted of Arnav pic. That wet hairs of him with sly smile. She smiled seeing him. You are so hot!. Cant take my eyes of You!!! But Mr Arnav singhRaijyada, you are too arrogant…khaduu, So difficult for common people to engage with you..and I hate you Mr ASR for creating distances with your fans!. She kept murmuring seeing the pic.

“Ok khushi, back to work”. She unlocked the laptop and by chance started verifying consumers side UI screens. She felt it be so raw from operating and not user friendly and thought it’s needs redesigning. She decided to talk with Akash. She went into Akash cubicle,, when she saw Anjali being sitted there with Akash. Akash quickly brushed off his hand from Anjali’s hand. Khushi did not miss to see that, but she did not think too much. She was eager to discuss new changes. She considered it to be a good chance to impress her higher management. She looked at Anjali and asusual was so impressed by Anjali personality. She tells her concerns on few old UI pages which suppose to be changed. Her unwanted pitching which is not of her concern or area of work irked Anjali.

“Khushi, I think we have best UI marketing analyzers along with sales team. They will better decide on that”

“yeah, I Know. But I felt its lot more hectic;. While ..”

She was cut short again by anjali. Khushi, I hope you and your team is on track with your task. ”

“Yeah we are working on it”

“Good. Handover the progress report to Akash before the end of the day!..Anjali phone starts ringing and it was a call from Arnav . She makes excuse and went to receive the call

Khushi tries to explain Akash that few changes has to happen,but he was apologetic and tells anjali to be very strict in this regard and asked her to just focus on her work. “

Disappointed Khsuhi left his cabin. She was going towards the lift when she bumped to anjali .

“I am soo sorry Anjali Mam. I just’
“Its fine.” She ignored khushi and was back to call. “Nahi Arnav.”

“Did she just say Arnav?’ Khushi looked back towards Anjaliwho was walking in opposite direction. “Khsuhi tu bhi na.. You are just too much into him. StOP ”. She went backto her cubicle.

“Di, who was it” Arnav asked on the other end when he heard some female voice.

“Ignore.Some employee”

He felt the voice familiar, Was it khushi? No !. How could she be in our company. Gosh!. Hell! F**k…She is bothering too much!

“Arnav? You there?”

“Yes Di. Yeah tell me . You were saying something”

“Yeah. Our Shanghai firm will complete 5 yrs next week. Can you imagine?. I just can’t believe. Time flies so soon”

“Wao. Congrats Di. Dad would be so happy”

“Offcouse. He is flying soon here. We are planning a grand event to celebrate this”

“Yeah. You should. “

“And brother, you are not going to miss this!. You are coming and its final!”

“Oh Di. I have lots of shoots in pipline . It’s tough for me. I even need to travel for some events”

“I don’t know anything. I would be soon sharing you the dates and you are going to block the day! Di’s order. “

Arnav sighed. “Fine!!!!. I will come to shanghai. Happy?”

After having dinner, khushi was doing her vessels when she gets a call from Aman. Yesterday only we had spoken!. He will call daily from now on? She raised her eyebrows.

“Hi Whats up.” Khushi says

“Hello Madam. Done with dinner? There is a surprise for you?”

“Yes! , Tell me”

“I am coming to India, Parents force finally wins. Can’t miss family function. And now Guess what?”

“What?” khushi asked in low voice

“I will travel to India via Shanghai “ There was moment of silence. “Surprise isn’t it” Aman asked.

“I mean you coming to shanghai? Connecting flights you have planned?”

“I would land to shanghai. Spend a day with you and next day have direct flight to Delhi” Khsuhi was shocked to hear that. She did not speak anything.

“Khushi you there? “

“Yah yah. Network bit slow. Nice to hear Aman”

“You are not happy? I thought instead of directly meeting on engagement day, I thought I could invest some time with you . We can spend time and get to know each other.”

“Offcouse. Great idea”. Khushi lied . She did not feel comfortable. This was uncalled surprise for her.

“I am really excited to meet you finally.”

“Same here. See you soon in shanghai then” Khushi said in her low tone.

wow amazing update so arnav also cant stop thinking bout khushi but this aman na big time chipku why he is hell bent on getting engaged so soon without even knowing khushi more. poor khushi i guess she has to suffer a lot a lot first family responsibitlity then her mom constant pestering , supercilious anjali ,lie bout arnav thing and most important sheetal case. its gonna be hell ride for khushi . i hope arnav makes it easy for her than being difficult cos she has so much to take care of also she could be target of lavanya baap re web of lies and problems for her cant wait how she is gonna tackle everything. right now i am not bothered bout arnav but just khushi and sheetal. amazing story writerji its getting interesting with each update. good luck

So, what is Shyam planning ? Is he going to sell Sheetal or does he want to just lazy out on Sheetal’s earnings? I am worried for her, but may be this will make her stronger...

Now Khushi is facing what might be the hardest time of her life, what with work stress, non co-operation and mistrust from boss ( Anjali) non- co- operation from team, Aman’s emotional stress ( I wonder how he would have responded had the roles been reversed, would he have tolerated the nonchalant attitude of Khushi? ), unable to get in touch with Sheetal..., if she can come out of it with flying colors atleast career wise, that would be amazing, while Aman’s understanding would be his acid test , determining the future of their relationship.
