Bajaj has said he wants to completely ruin Basu Publications. And the way he can is by taking everything he has. Now he knows Prerna is everything that Basu has. So he targets Prerna and makes her HIS. If he had put a clause ki kisi aur se shaadi karo then the pain wouldn't have been heightened as much as Basu seeing Prerna with Bajaj. Tabahii is all that man knows and he is pushing the right buttons. He mentally wants to crush down Basu and the only way he can is by getting married to Prerna.
