You are talking as in the godfathers in India get punished for the so called strict laws. We know very well that how the laws work here. It's weird to see the way people leave no bounds to prove some acts as domestic violence are the same people who defend another movie that have murder, robbery etc. just because the Godfathers do that. I have no bitterness towards movies like 'The Godfather', but had such movies gotten released in India in this recent timeline then certainly bunch of people would argue telling that people would be inspired to get associated with the underworld dons more and more, in fact those critics would even claim that such movies would inspire people to become a godfather in future.

Godfathers in India don't get punished because they have the connections, money and brains to get away from their crimes. Everyone doesn't have those qualities or privileges. It requires skills and knowledge to do these crimes and there's a constant fear because it doesn't require a complaint for police investigation like sexual harassment or other crimes against women . There is struggle in making a name in underworld because its a career and their life depends on it. You are no more part of a civilized society if you chose that path and there's no turning back. So a movie is not enough of a motivation for a common guy to become a criminal unless he's already passionate about it.

On the other hand, sexual harassment and domestic violence is done by common people, and those guys easily get away with it because most of the time women don't complain. If by chance an FIR is lodged, the guy gets away because of lack of evidence or witnesses. The life of the guy is not getting affected in any way, and these crimes don't require any skill or knowledge. Its just that society and nature has given too much power to men and they are abusing it. So its easy for men to follow a character like Kabir Singh not only because he's shown as cool, but also that it doesn't require any hard work and they can easily get away with that type of behavior and live their life.

I'm not defending murder or robbery. Don't know why you felt that. Just telling you why crime against women is not the same as those other crimes.

so if people like kabir do exist then people have the right to critique it, people have the right to be disappointed that such a guy is being shown as a 'stud' and someone who these boys are proud of. i have read tweets from women who have been in controlling relationships being triggered by this film, its not a joke or something to mock

the thing that has most disspointed me though is the reaction that some of the fans of this film are having on anyone that doesn't like it, calling them 'feminatzi's and abusing the heck out of them, the kind of tweets rajeev masand is even getting are terrible, calling him chutiya and telling him he shouldn't review films anymore

One more thing, all men in my family are misogynistic. In fact I think 99% of my countrymen are misogynistic, forget being misogynistic but there are a lot who are abusive some even to the point of nana in agnisakshi. Not only that I’ve seen women close to me being abused by their husbands. It took a lot to convince them that it wasn’t okay and to get them out of it.

My point being that I get it heck I’ve been abused, harassed, bullied, beaten up so we’re all on the same boat.

A lot of men specially in India i hear are misusing their power and that’s just horrifying but there are also women who are misusing the law which benefits them and that makes the whole thing worse as those who actually need the help never get it. I hear fake dowry claims and other such things.

So anyone who has power will use it to their advantage be it men or women.

Another thing to note is that most guys these days don’t have a positive role model. Unfortunately we’re all victims of victims and the cycle continues. This is not to justify any wrong doing but to understand where it’s coming from.

If we want change then this is not the way. I’m not even sure if we really want change or just pretend we do.

This movie or any movie isn’t the issue. People also feel outraged by trump and I’m like how does that help?

Focus on the change you want rather than on the injustice even if you feel justified doing so and the whole world agreeing with you.

I remember after the paris attack. A guy lost his family and he said I won’t give them the satisfaction of hating them. They’re not worth it.

Your anger, hate isn’t worth it.

Anyways this forum has now ruined Kabir singh for me. I know the whole story now 😔😂 and I’ve written more than I wanted to.

I guess I’m trying to convey something which isn’t easy.

I do empathize and sympathize with all the women/men who go through all kinds of abuses on day to day basis.

Hopefully we can all rise above it ❤️
