Shagun loved Raman, when she was with Ashok at that time she loved Raman and she still loves Raman. Shagun married Raman when she was just a teenager 18 or 19. She came from a very misfortunate family, her father was dead when she and her younger brother Mihir was just kids. They had to struggle hard to make ends meet. At the same time she saw how Raman was satisfied with little things and lacked any kind of ambition to succeed in his career to make Shagun financially secure. Mind you, Bhallas were a big family and after Mr Bhalla retired, Raman was the only earning member left in the family and Raman being Raman, he used to take care of every one..Romi, Simmi, Param and of course senior Bhallas. Raman might have been earning a decent amount at that time but it was not enough for a family of six. So Raman had a little or zero savings. Now Shagun faced financial difficulties all through her life. Naturally she would want to spend some money on luxury things and save some money for savings. She could neither due to Raman's family.
Then came Adi. She became mother at a very young age. She wanted to give things to Adi that she couldn't have when she was at his age. That helplessness made her impatient. She was immature because of her very young age, she could not make Raman understand her insecurities and Raman didn't try to understand her point of views either. Being an immature young woman in her very early twenties who experienced financial difficulties all her life, she waited for an escape route. And Ashok was that escape route for her. Shagun wronged but you have to take important factors such as her insecurities, childhood financial difficulties, motherhood at a very young age, Raman being the only provider for the family etc into consideration as well. Brilliant analysis of Shagun's character. The hints were there in old YHM before they made Shagun a vamp and Ishita a flawless lady.
Fyi: I do think Shagun still loves Raman. But she also has come to terms with the reality - She is Mani's wife and Ishita is Raman's wife. But deep down she still loves Raman.
