Also the outrage on women lacking agency in the film...

The film is titled Kabir Singh so it is all abt him and his POV...why must every story have a badass woman? I love my badass devasenas, simmis, safeenas etc but Don’t shy, under confident women deserve a representation in our films?

From what I know Preeti’s character has a genuine arc in the film from being submissive to becoming a strong woman who can take care of herself and face worse times than Kabir and not resort to drugs or alcohol as escape...she comes off looking much more admirable by the end of the film.

Also the fact that disturbing situations are played for laughs..I was one of the many people who laughed my heart out during the tabu scenes in andhadhun....again, I can enjoy her character without endorsing her actions...

Lol even the film named after female character " padmavat " was all about glorification of male character " khilji " didn't see the ones outraging now having a moral standard at that time and raise the issue . All this outrage depends on who is playing who and whether it's going to affect your fav or not atleast here on the forum that's why it's all laughable imo 😆

Why are you bringing Khilji here? Khilji or RS has nothing to do with the movie so don't need to bring him in every topic related to Kabir Singh.

P.S. I can't believe how the same people who raise fingers on Kabir Singh's character try to justify Khilji's character.smiley21 If Padmaavat was alive, then Khilji would rape her.

Ya agree with what u say. I m quite baffled that people who praised Ranveer to the sky for his portrayal of Khilji are bashing Shahid for taking up this movie .Khilji was a tyrant who destroyed many bcoz of his massive ego and lust. Padmavat glorified that villain..and people actually made fun of Shahid who portrayed the 'character' given to him as he was told to.

If u condemn one why glorify other..bash both equally. And if they r to be praised for their act..praise them equally.

I like Ranveer as a performer so m not a hater

It wasn't long ago since we all witnessed who everyone went gaga over khilji because ranveer played it and now making all sorts of negative threads now for kabir singh but the moment you call out the double standard and hypocrisy then you get sly digs or deewano ki tarah ROFL emos in return 🤪

I am no shahid fan but i like to show people the mirror for their past/present/future double standards and this case is a perfect example of that .

Answer is simple. Silk committed suicide and died alone. Khilji never got Padmaavati but Kabir after all his horrible behaviour got the girl. Had Preeti been shown happily married and Kabir had died alone I would have been ok.

Just watched it . The biggest problem was that he did not face any consequences of his actions and remains arrogant till the end. At least in Tere Naam Radhe loses his love

^^ fair enough...but he didn’t exactly get out unscathed did he? He did get 1 silver lining at the end and that too when he groveled at the woman’s feet...

He virtually has no career and not even chance of it in future, by the end of the movie...I see that as a big blow to someone who acted all entitled because hes the topper of the college...

In a way Preeti is the crux of their relationship going forward and she’s the authority on it...

And since comparison is between Ranveer as Khilji and Shahid as Kabir I just want to say there is a difference between a strong character and glorification. Ranveer was a strong negative character in this movie. He wasn’t glorified. He had more screen space and strong scenes but he was still a negative character. There was no romantic music going on when Khilji was lusting after Padmavaati. Director and story didn’t want us to root for Khilji and Padmaavati. But in Kabir singh he is not a strong negative character he is strong heroic character that audience is supposed to root for and hence it’s glorification. Director and story want the audience to want Kabir to get his happy ending. That is the difference . I don’t care how much Kabir suffers he suffered because he is an idiotic psychopath not because he realised he was wrong . Tell me what happens in the end is Kabir a changed man ? Isn’t he still the person with regressive mindset and anger management issues who will again slap Preeti if he doesn’t get his way?

that’s not one silver lining 😆it’s the only thing he wanted. His passion and his obsession was that girl and he got it. See every character has an arc and arc completed when one realises their mistake and goes through the consequences and emerges as a better person. If the movie had ended with Kabir being alone realising that there is more to life than his obsession and given more respect to the people around him like his friends I would have still liked it. But the movie showed that Kabir’s kind of love will eventually win in the end and that the girl will love you no matter what just makes me sick.
