Although he no longer has that innocent chocolate boy baby face. He still had loads of talent. Don’t mind him around at all. He deserves more success. He has def shown more talent than the likes of Ranveer or Varun if not had as many hits. Ranveer might have outshone him in Padamavat due to the script. But can Ranveer do a Kaminey or Haidar? I think not. So more power to him.

Shahid's role in Padmavat was poorly developed and honestly caricaturish. He was a victim of terrible writing. The entire script was manipulated to give Ranveer the ultimate spotlight. It's laughable when people belittle Shahid's acting skills based off that one role when he's proved his mettle as an actor in multiple films over the years.

I love shahid’s acting...don’t like all of his movies though for various reasons...but the guy can act...better than being a superstar who can’t act....

He won quite a few awards for Udta Punjab too. He probably got the second most acclaim for that film after Alia Bhatt. Many would even argue they got equal acclaim. Again he very much contributed to Jab We Met. Geet might have been the life of the film but it wouldn't have been as great if Aditya wasn't played by a good actor. Not to mention Vivah. Plenty of memorable films but they're scattered. He perhaps doesn't have a string of successes in consecutive years like Akki.

Yeah. That was a good one. Hopefully Kabir Singh will get him acclaim if not anything else.

Another acclaimed performance just came to mind. He won awards for Fida too. Although he was pretty weird and stalkerish in the beginning. The shades of grey portrayed towards the end were fab. Might even say he outdid Kareena in that movie.

Yeah, I am not exactly sure what qualifies one as a superstar. People are comparing him to Akshay Kumar. I agree Akshay might have had more commercial success by reaching age 38 but not nearly as much critical acclaim as Shahid.

Shahid has proved his acting chops. It's weird/odd luck (for lack of better word) that each of the films he excelled in had female characters that got more attention than him.

I compared Akshay cause Shahid/Akshay didnt have a whole ton of success early on in their careers and then later had major success.
