Hey guys! Missed me? Been a long while I posted on IF. I received a very genuine query on Naina (on my twitter (@undinokapyaar)). And wanting to understand her role in current track. Being into writing on tracks as always, I just went into writing mode and ended up writing a full write up. May be, just may be, I'll be able to help you guys feel better? (For those thinking on Naina and worrying, I am not sure the vibes around her on IF yet, as I have been inactive here, but if at all I bring a new perspective, I'll be happy) I really hope I do, because Naina is going really strong still my friends.
Firstly, as a warning or caution, I believe, we should see episodes from track perspective and then it's all fine. When Mumbai track started, older Naina came and said how society people are important to them. This place is where they have lived their struggle times & success. This is special. Naturally, there will be some society people who they bonded with while being there.
Let's look at the intro VO with older Naina herself.
"30 October 1995. Aaj bhi yeh tareekh acchi tarah yaad hai mujhe. Sameer aur mein apne spane sakar karne, mayanagri mumbai aaye the. 24 saal guzar gaye, lekin aaj bhi lagta hai jaise kal hi ki baat ho. Sea queen building, J101. Sameer aur mera Mumbai ka pehla ghar. Yeh ghar, yeh jagah sakshi hai.. yahan hum kabhi bohot hase, kabhi roye, khatti meethi yaadein jodi.
Khair, yahan Mumbai mein mera ek naya parivaar bana. Iss society ke logon se. Aaj ki tarah itni shaant nahi hua karti thi yeh society. Tab toh yahan ki chahal-pehel dekhte banti thi. Shaam ko log walk karte the. Iss hi park mein bacchhte khela karte the. Unhi benches mein ladies baith ke gappe marra karti thi. I swear, kya din the woh.
Naye dost bane, nayi ladayiyaan hui. Jhoot-sach ke beech sachhe rishte bane. Aur iss naye sansaar mein shuru hui - Action, emotion, drama, aur success se bhar-poor ek nayi triangle love story. Sameer-Naina vs. Mumbai. Ji haan, yeh hai meri kahani ka chapter 2!"
Highlight in that VO is, "Sach-jhoot ke beech sachhe rishte bane"
If you see, every track when introduced, CVs start it by giving a big hint as to what's to unfold. So, if you look at introduced VO. That's exactly how track has unfolded. Track is about dosti and bonding with society people only. Nothing more or less. With underlying theme that jhoot doesn't lead to success, but it only leads to mess in life. The lie, is a mere gateway for society people to bond with Samaina-Papa, by judging them, by doubting them, but eventually, end up loving them.. amidst "Sach-Jhoot". We should keep in mind show shifted cities entirely so chars will take time to blend. Hence this track. We are at almost climax of it. Truth of Shaadi will be out soon and new track will start.
Now let's talk career. To be very honest, no one's career has started even one bit. Sameer is only "studying" acting. Naina is also just "studying" CA. Preeti is also just wishing to "study" parlour course.
The lil bits showed for Sameer like going to PH meeting Anantji, it was to make them come to Mumbai for acting. That's all. A way into new world. A passion for Sameer to take on, after boutique. His rejection led to classes and them understanding that nothing comes easy. Thats all.
"Lekin 90s ka dashak woh waqt tha, jab badlav ne nas dastak di thi. Aur ghar ke andar aane mein waqt lag raha tha. Toh badlav ke aane aur waqt ke badalne ke beech bechari Preeti buri tarah atak gayi thi"
For Preeti, it was a way to show how 90s times are changing. How bahu wasn't allowed to work, but how they will allow her. How they will adapt and open up. They can't show this with Naina as her family is progressive already. So that's why showing with Preeti. We shouldn't forget the show is about 90s as well and not just Samaina. Eventually this should and will bond Preeti fam and Samaina fam. As VO has clearly told us how important and crucial Shubam is for Samaina in this Mumbai journey.
Now Naina career. She is currently supporting her husband very strongly. Along with taking care of the house, and studying. Multitasking. That's huge in 90s. Poor Preeti can't even do that. Naina is lucky, her mother in law & husband are progressive, to allow her to study. So she is calmly studying. But then everyone is waiting for writer Naina. Where is she? Right in front of us. CVs have given hints how Naina can make up stories on the spot, how she grasps the information around her fast, and mould herself into the situation. These are all hints of a writer and her topper self. Currently Naina has chosen a "secure" path for herself. Chacha was CA and so going by influence, she is following same path.
But like future-teller-card told her/them:
"Apka samay badalne wala hai. Bohot naye anubhav honge" for Sameer.
"Aapka samay badal chuka hai. Ek nayi pehchan hogi khudse. Rasta aap chunte hai, manzil apko chunti hai" for Naina.
So, both are yet to start their careers. They don't even know acting/CA aren't their true calling. They only "studying" them. Both going equal pace, na koi kam, na zyada. They chose Bombay as raasta, and their true manzil is Production house and Writing. Currently, they are only at "anubhav" bit.
I think what's happening is those who are only focusing on "Writer Naina" are loosing to see everything else around. I remember from the time Nanu passed away, almost entire fandom wanted to see Sameer take over business while Naina "supports" strongly, just like Shashi mam supported strongly. His iron lady. Aren't we seeing exactly that now? So why the issue? Sumeet sir always adores and gushes about the fact that Shashiji backed him for everything possible. We are seeing just that. Having that support system is huuuuge. Why being a housewife is looked down upon? That doesn't mean Naina is not a strong character. Here, she is also studying, and juggling home stuff. Like I said multitasking, being the topper she is. Many would just give up and do just one thing. She is ROCK SOLID stabilizer for Sameer. She takes care of his emotions, pushes him for not giving up, makes sure everything runs smooth. Why the hurry for writer Naina to happen right away? What's the rush? Want the show to end so fast? Because Writer Naina means we are close to success and end of show honestly speaking. She is studying CA aaram se at home. It doesn't need going to classes. So it's all cool. Entrepreneur Sameer has also not even hinted!!! Only PH was subtly hinted as a radio player talked about production houses while Samaina walked out of home first time (going to meet Anantji time) taking steps towards their career. Atleast we know about Writer Naina & hints already. We also have Gadkariji journo who is possibly going to introduce and bring out Naina's talent. We already have a medium for writing world!! It's just matter of time when it happens.
Flashback to VO on Writer Naina:
"Un dinon aaj ki tarah itne tv serials nahi hote the. Lekin haan logon ki zindagiyon mein TV serial jaisa drama zaroor hota hta. Shayad wahi se maine TV serial ki kahaani likhna seekha. Kyunki un dinon meri apni zindagi ka drama bhi, kissi tv serial ke drame se kam nahi tha"

So now, they are in Mumbai.. almost getting introduced to TV & Film world. So, Writer Naina is sooooon gonna come. Naina ko apne aap se ek nayi pehchan hogi, jald hi!!
Good thing with YUD is the pace is perfect. One subject/lesson at a time. Otherwise it will be a khichdi of everything you know. So back to like I was saying, current track is all about society and it's dynamics with Samaina-Papa. As this track is nearing climax, bondings are taking place, Aditya-Sam have started. Gadkari family likes them now. They are key people, as they are related with Samaina careers. Also Shubam is going to play key role for career we know so that bond will perhaps happen soon too I assume, with two fams merging in a way currently.
So take this track as base for everything in future. If this track and it's characters won't establish, future track can't happen. These people are gonna be Samaina's support system as life unfolds for them in Bombay, and that's why they given SO much importance. Don't be disheartened if Samaina aren't given importance at times in eps here and there, everything is for a reason. Be it to shows 90s technology rising, or 90s changing times or 90s stereotypes. CVs keep giving us lessons here and there. 😉
