True. That entire slot of 8.30 to 11pm used to be huge in India because of these three. You can fault Ekta's shows for being regressive and borderline stupid but everyone was so talented back in those days. Even the supporting cast.

I remember watching that iconic club scene where she beats his ass with a bat infront of his friends and it should have been funny, anyone doing that now would be funny but Shweta's Prerna was so firebrand, she made it so believable. That entire track was brilliant. And ofcourse everytime Prerna met Anurag the sheer power of her monologues. She made Kasauti what it was. Not one heroine right now has her screen presence.

Prerna and Prem track is possibly my most favourite track on Indian TV. Karanvir and her were both such powerful actors. Loved it.

Erica has been shit, but almost everyone has been this season barring Parth, although his character is equally shit.

Melodramatic?! Have you seen Indian serials?! Indian serials are melodrama with a capital T. Television was and is as melodramatic as ever. There are actresses now who try to be so extra melodramatic that's its cringy. The Drasti Dhami-Surbhi Jyoti types. Shweta made it WORK and came out a fine actress amidst all the melodrama. She made such a lasting impact that even today she's Prerna to people. The only Prerna to be honest.

I know its melodramatic, but I am more a fan of nuanced performances that Shweta Tiwari and Ronit Roy used to give. Prerna is an iconic character no doubt, but acting wise I didn't find her great. But that can be only me.

There was nothing iconic about any of the Ekta shows. Same qtiyapa wrapped in different packages. Wahi 3-4 shadiya, iske sath bachhe, uske sath bachhe, bachho ki shadiya, planning, plotting, killing of witnesses, Komolika type of vamps present at every crucial things n hears all secrets. Dhan dhan music was such a headache inducing. I don't get the hype of Prerna either. Pehle Anurag, lova ya. Then got married to Bajaj. Anu also married to 3-4 wives in between. Then chance to reunite with Anu, no sorry now I love Baju. After couple years, No Baju. Mere dil mein to hamesha Anu hi tha. Playing ping pong all life. Total Bheja Fry.

These shows were sued and they were pulled off overnight by court orders coz of atrocities n bullshit they showed. That's why Ekta's shows were absent for couple years in between.

Then came this saath nibhana sathiya & Yeh Rishta bullshit. These shows writers used the same ekta recipe in bholi bhali manner. But andar to wahi sab tha. Faaltu ka overreaction for someone breathing.

Check the shows before Kabhi Saas & Kahaani became popular. Indian TV was fresh n progressive. Ekta ruined it for good. Back when these K serials were popular, I used to read husbands filing case against wife for watching TV whole day. 😆Funny shit. There used to be articles I read about how Dhan dhan in our living room has affected our day to day lives health wise and social relations wise.

OMG.. I just typed the essay. LOL. But yea the point is, You are not alone Thug. I don't find anything iconic or great about Shweta's acting as Prerna.

Now she was good in Parvarrish show. Very nuanced & brilliant performance as Sweety.

Nimbhu iconic matlab, everyone from.that generation know it. Not saying that was good. Ekta shows were garbage, are garbage will remain garbage
