Wow! I liked his answer. He didn't justify his character, he plainly said he is depicting a character who is aggressive by nature & if ppl will dislike his character it's okay. He is here for acting not stardom..
Smart way to tackle this question

No we don't want to see goody goody people only. The problem happens when we continue to keep showing how a bully/violent man is also lovable (that too, by a soft sweet girl LOL). If you are a bully, most likely you are an extremely emotional/sensitive man unable to handle all the feelings with intelligence....so it all comes out as anger/violence...such a man is pretty scary. Unless the bully learns to deal with feelings of pain, loss and hurt ego, no one would want to be with this person. So a soft sweet girl falling for a bully in college makes no sense. Maybe the movie has a point in the end. Trailer doesn't inspire me to go see the film.
This reminds of me Tabu. She has played unlikable grey characters. But I don't think she was shown to be lovable by a soft sweet boy. She was loved by men who are more similar to her...which makes more sense.
I haven't watched any version of this so I'll wait till the movie is out. But I understand where the question is coming from. Our movies have romanticized bad behaviour of men from time immemorial. Yes, unruly aggressive men exist and their stories can be told like any story but one must not romanticize it. One must not portray it like alpha masculinity and the version that will get you the girl. So Im hoping if his behaviour is shit in the movie ,he gets called out by atleast someone. Dark and twisted cannot be done without introspection of their psyche.
The south version of the movie is quite sexist, but I still liked it.
