Am a MAC enthusiast and hoarder but even I know MAC, Estee Lauder, BB aint affordable to the gen demographic they want sell to. Not pocket friendly for the general college going girl. Lakme,L'oreal, Maybelline and new player Nykaa are the ones hogging the market. And till these brands come down to regulating prices for the Indian demographic there's no chance of a market takeover. They are hiring the new girls cause less pay, more social media friendly, the mainstream ones are taken.
Market takeover is irrelevant. Everyone knows their market. High end brands know they sell a lot less but that's not relevant for a brand ambassador. As long as they get visibility through ads and they get paid, it would not matter whether a brand is high end or low end.
Maybelline and Lancome and many other names are also owned by the Loreal group but they differentiate the names. Maybelline is youth-oriented. Lancome is high-end.
Big brands can afford to pay. They don't need to worry about who's cheap. They hire young girls because India is a very very young market where the majority of the population is now under 30. In the US, they will hire an older lady like Celine Dion because older women buy make-up and they make up a large part of the population. They would not do so for the Indian market.
No one is saying L'Oreal is penny pinching because they don't want to spend money on their old ambassadors, the point here is L'Oreal is not promoting Cannes as much as they should. Dunno whether they are gonna discontinue with Cannes next year or not, the problem here is DP-Aish-Sonam have been getting peanuts from L'Oreal yet they are with them coz of Cannes. The fest kept them relevent. Now if L'Oreal loses its relevence at Cannes, who would care about their local ambassadors? Chopard has already taken over. In that sense L'Oreal is the sinking ship, to the celebs desperate for a/two Cannes appearance every year.
Tulles and big gowns in every color this season!

I think Cannes is loosing its appeal in India. It's not exclusive anymore.
