I thought Chachaji did not have money to marry Preeti immediately after spending a lot of money on Naina's marriage. Besides they also own Sameer Rs. 50000 with 1.5 precent interest.

Don't worry Shilpa, Sameer is getting his share from the business. He'll happily pay for this wedding. 😉😉

May be the new family is good middle class educated family who is not interested in dowry...more to so in Mumbai...I have heard marriage s are done at low budget also...unlike fat punjabi or north Indian marriage s... .my POV...not wanting to hurt both Indians here...generally speaking...the guy is a ca also ...so looks like good family.

That is all good, but why can't any of these guys and girls have a career before marrying. For Munna it does make sense, he is Marwari, already working in family business but why don't others need to find jobs or some can even choose to study further. The entire idea of all youngster getting married so early is kind of regressive for the 90s.

If this show is to be believed then youngsters of the 90s lacked ambition and were concerned only about marriage and love.
The 90s was actually the era where emphasis was placed on education, education, education. Education of the female was also encouraged by government and broad minded people. Most of the people who are successful today were in fact the age of the youngsters in the show. More people, particularly girls, studied further after school and college, marriage was delayed until after studies were completed and the boy had started work. Many girls only married after their final exams were completed and her in laws knew that she would take up a career. Many were very supportive of this.
Maybe, Pandit is not being fixed up because his social status is lower than that of Sameer and Munna, he will thus only be able to marry once he gets a job.

In fact 90s was an era of so much modernisation and liberalisation. With opening up of FDI, it gave a whole set of new opportunities, job roles etc. Women particularly were quite empowered and encouraged to take up higher studies. Many settled into careers and an average girl in the city took up job before getting married and continued post wedding. Even marriage age shifted from previous generation. I am exactly from this era and all of us pursued higher education.
