I've seen a lot of people on IF (including myself lol) say that Karan has been trying to copy SLB recently with his film choices and how he's presenting his actors in those films, yes I'm talking about Kalank. 😆
Do you think this is actually true or are we blindly judging him? We haven't seen these films yet. Kalank was conceptualized 15 years ago. Yes, the character looks maybe copied from Ram Leela but we don't know yet where the movie is based (maybe it's in Rajasthan or Gujarat). I also think Alia's poster look isn't copied from anywhere. It's quite a common bridal sort of look 😛
Coming to Takht, he's saying that he was inspired to make it after Bahubali's success. He also later said that period dramas are the IT thing right now and he's always the first one to jump onto the bandwagon. I thought this was kinda stupid
SLB didn't make those historical dramas because he was following the industry norm or what was the "it" thing was at the time. He made them because he was very passionate about the subjects on which those movies were made. For e.g. he had been planning to make Bajirao Mastani for more than a decade. He was also very passionate about Padmaavat's subject matter.
So is Karan really trying to copy SLB or are we judging him too fast? Btw I'm talking about SLB here because he's the only one who's made really successful historical dramas. Gowariker just made one long ago (I won't count Mohenjodaro lol). So the comparison will obviously be with SLB.
