I am searching right now for any scene of Iron man 😛😆 so we can create the GIF together.
Here I will just tell you what I am doing while I crreate the gifs I will explain you detailed with pictures etc on the coloring and saving part no worries! :) Just let me know if you didnt understand anything here ! :)
I selected just a short scene for 3 seconds Tony Stark smiling.😛
I uploaded it by selecting the part and then "Limit to every 2 Frames"! Sometimes I even write 3 instead of 2! It's better and easier to work with less frames. If you download and open my gifs on Photoshop you'll see that my gifs don't reach 100 Frames! Never! More layers and more frames can be a problem aswell! So what am I doing then after uploading? I firstly click to "Image" above and then "Image Size" and then write 500 pixels on WIDTH and then click to ok.. so your document on which you want to work will be smaller and so it wouldnt take ages to load etc.
I select "Similar Layers" and group them. I select the part on which I want to make gif (only one gif!) if you want to make more gifs on that scene then dont worry.. only select first gif part / frames. I copied the frames and opened new dokument with the same size as my video it was 500yx281. And then I paste my frames on the new document. I delete the background on the layers because thats not important. As I have clicked to "Limit to every 2 Frames" on the beginning by uploading I delay the frames by 0,09. Just imagine ... if you write higher numbers on Limit Frames the gif gets faster as photoshop kinda removes frames and it place for example twice as fast if you write Limit to every 2 Frames or thrice as fast if you write Limit to every 3 Frames! So everytime you have to delay the frames more. I click to "Timeline" below and then "Filter" then "Smart Filter".
So. I selected this part of the movie.
I always ask myself what I see in this video / picture.. not like I see Iron man smiling😆 but the colors😆 lights .. if its dark.. or light.. if the scene takes place outside.. or inside... which colors are on the video? is it colorful? etc.. I see it's dark video and has not more than 3 colors. So I kinda know how I'll color my gif. DARK!😃😆
Before I do anything I add the sharpening action yuo dn't need to do this. So. I try out my psd's first.
While searching for PSD's I cropped my GIF. Now I found a suitable psd. but doesnt look perfect. Right?
From now on I know Photoshop will not save this.. it will be too noisy.. wanna try out?
yepp! I was right! It's too dark and the blue doesnt look good yet.. so I make some colorings unvisible to see what it is actually making to the gif or if it's making difference etc.. if I see sometihng which is not good for the video I delete it instantly and try with the other coloring layers until I like it.
So this is the result.. I edited the psd a bit added more psds.. tried other psds .. etc.. until this came out..
Now let's try together the saving settings. Now I selected "Adaptive" and "Diffusion" right? How does it look? Hm.. it's not that good actually but ok for me. The face looks pretty good rgiht? But the background is only noisy.. the above part. Let's try other settings. Selective and diffusion maybe?
I dont know if only I am seeing this but I think selective added only more noise to it.
Let's try "No Dither" maybe?
nah! It made it even more worse! And do me a favor and never select "Noise"🤢😆
You have three options "No Dither", "Diffusion" or "Pattern". Pattern might help smetimes aswell but here it wont help aswell as it add everywhere of the gif small noise but sometimes it's not that visible than "diffusion". There is one more option than Selective and Adaptive. That is "Perceptual".. See..
For me this looked better. Lets try "Perceptual" with "Diffusion"?
That's a little bit better I guess?? So. I'll save this now and see how it looks like if I post it here.
It's not my best work but I am ok with it. Mostly it takes me days to create gifs😆 don't worry if you take ages to find a nice coloring..
I made this one for example in 3 days😆
I hope I could help a little bit!
