I tou even imagine characters, and I mean side characters get their happy ending with love of their life once the movie ends even in movies that I detest😆
Like Aditya's character in YJHD and Varun's in SOTY

Bunny and Naina seems likely to have been broken up with Naina finally getting rid of her residual feelings for Bunny. I felt that she built him up too much and a fling with him would actually do her good and help her move on. He would no longer be the one who got away.
Bachna -ae-haseena- Even here Ranbir and Deepika's characters won't last long I feel.

Bunny Naina for sure. He'd HV grown impatient n subconsciously start resenting her cz he left his dream for her .shed s feel he's constantly trying to make her roan the whole world like him n not letting her breathe. N both would grow apart. They're not bad people but just very different. I ythin Yjhd needed a non Happy ending.
Raj Simran won't work either. As pretentious movie reviews said, they never had a real conversation. How long can u be like 'shuno na ,looove.they had hillarious segment showing how Raj n Simran would fight😆

Not bw related but pretty sure Ross n Rachel wouldn't last either.

Raj and Simran from DDLJ. As much as I love DDLJ and its the ultimate romance, great romance does not mean great marriage. Theirs was a classic case of opposites attract. They had nothing in common. They barely knew each other well enough to make a lifelong commitment.

Did Simran really know what she wanted? Her desireshad always been secondary in her life. She always knew that her fate was sealed and had accepted it. Her dreams of romance were what every girl grows up with - the fairytale prince charming. But as every woman knows - that is not reality. It takes time and heartbreak to know that love is not a fairytale - but something that takes time and effort from two people equally. She chased a fairytale as soon as her heart fluttered. But is that what she really wanted for the rest of her life? Would she be happy in the world of a rich brat that was so different from hers? Would she fit into that high society? Would her simplicity and traditional demeanor always be embraced without questions? Is she ready for the lifestyle change?

Raj is probably a lot more sure of himself. He has had complete freedom in his life. He has dated and slept with many women. He is in a better place to know when he has met the right one. But is it truly love or is it the hubris of getting the girl you can't have? Does he actually love Simran or the idea of a good sanskari wife that desi men are taught to covet? Is a more traditional coy wife going to fit in well with his rich brat lifestyle?

But most likely they will never break up. Simran defied her family to be with Raj. She will not further embarrass them by getting a divorce. After all she was taught to be a good daughter and wife. She will stick it out and do her duty. No matter how unhappy she is, she will go through life with a smile.

The excitement of romance will soon wear down. Raj will find himself frustrated with a wife who is invested in motherhood and domesticity rather than him. After all he is used to the world revolving around him. He will be tempted many times by women who are willing to do that. But he will fight it because he loves his wife and family. But eventually, he will cave in.

There is no lack of love here. They still love each other the way they did when they caught that train. But there is a lack of compatibility and communication. So they live unhappily ever after.

I whole heartedly agree! Unless Raj evolves into a more mature person, Simran will not like him over time. He is so impatient & annoying I am not sure if he will listen or understand her feelings...she is very sensitive too. Simran also will have to evolve to fit into the rich lifestyle although she may find it all fake!

Alia and Sid from SOTY. I din't even get their love story. Ishq wala love kya hai bhai 😆
Alia and Varun from Badrinath ki Dulhania. The sudden change in the father's character was not convincing at all and probably he would make the couple divorce sooner or later.

Sridevi and Anil from Judai. Why they became one in the end is something I never even got. They would definitely divorce again 😆

Anjali and Rahul from KKHH --> I was never convinced of their love story tbh. Was a kid when I first saw the movie but never got the hoopla around their love story or the fairytale wala love feeling so rewatched it again as a teen and adult but I'm yet to be conviced that theirs was a epic forever wala love story... If they have gotten together at college they would have broken up six or seven months after dating and remained friends for life. Their story is a classic case of when two friends of opposite sex feels the platonic love they have for each other is romantic love. There was nothing in the first half that showed they had any sexual attraction/tension to suggest their love for each other is more than platonic. Anjali most probably had a crush was infatuated by Rahul was pining after the jerk Rahul for so long because her crush/love was unrequited and the less said about adult Rahul the better.

KKHH is movie I never connected even as a naive child but did cry when I thought they would never be together for some strange reason. Most probably the melodrama got to me.

Considering they were poor again when Urmila left, I wonder how long Sri would have been able to survive.. And Anil was kind of a jerk to let go of his child irrespective of how wrong Urmila had done to him😆

Statistically
1 out of every 1000 movie couples would have broken up. That's the divorce rate in India. Which means the remaining 999 couples would have been unhappy, miserable, repentant, but stick it through.

15% of expat couples would have broken up by now. That's the divorce rate for Indian Americans. I am going to assume it true for all expat Indians - NRI, born abroad or whatever.

OMG this is the best thread ever! Raj in DDLJ & Rahul in KKHH are jerks! When I was growing up all the girls used to go goo goo gaa gaa over these characters...I used to be like W*F whyyy! LOL! The tide has finally turned. I feel validated 😆
