I know i am terribly late, to be precise three and half months late in giving the review. honestly i waiting for the right time with ample of material to write and also preparing myself to accept the flak which i might receive after publishing this piece.
before that let me tell you about myself, i joined IF way back in 2011 when IPKKND was a rage, been part of that fandom them moved to Madubala fandom and then finally to KYY. Left this place in 2016 when negativity went too high here. Now back here in 2019.
If I had to review KZK in one sentence - statue of love is a bigger hot than the show. Best part about kasautii - Basu Family. Sadly the pomp shown for promotions and launch didn't reflect in the story. somewhere makers forgot that to make a show or movie hit story is the driving force. Kasautii seem to be struck in way back in 2000 when it first aired with loud make up, and even louder bgms with same old same old cliches. who in 2019 wears such pathetic make up and jewelry like the basu women and where will you hear so many mantras being played in the bg. this era is all about drama with subtlety. point in example yrkkh, that show is all about family drama but at the same time its wrapped in a cover which would appeal to the millennial.
whereas in Kasatuii the female leads thinks marrying a predator is best to get rid of debt and sacrificing is the ultimate form of family love, fight back is not there in her dictionary. the male lead is said to be very smart but he forgets the use his smartphone as a means of capturing evidence against the villain. and the latest twist in tale the younger sister of female lead is aware about contraceptives so she ends up getting knocked up. Are the makers trying to tell us that youngsters now days are this dumb, sorry not sorry we are way more smart than this. now people will argue don't find logic in ek show, i ask why not? drama is good when its presented with common sense but not when it is presented for the sake of drama cause people might love it. its 2019, the audience have changed and its a whole new generation is counted as audience now.
second and one of the most important drawback of kasautii is the lack of chemistry. you are making a show about star crossed lovers but there is neither a love story nor chemistry. when you look at the iconic pairs like arshi, rishbala and manan; when their eyes locked we could see the sparks flying, we found ourselves blushing. in fact we still blush when we see their scenes even after so many years. honestly, for anupre i don't feel anything. there are no sparks, no blushing and no pit in the stomach in anticipation of what next. parth samthaan is trying too hard but he alone cannot create chemistry. erica is a beautiful woman and that's it. her acting has been a big let down. in anupre scenes when anurag is looking at her passionately she is blank. point of reference here is prerna's dream in rain, she was in love and was confessing but even in her dream i felt anurag was in love but she just gave blank and shallow expressions. her dialoguedelivery is too fast, thank god i watch on hotstar so i can rewind and watch. imagine people who watch on tv. she speaks fast and without any modulation. and this comes from who is from hindi heartland.
parth on the other hand has outdone himself. mind you being a good guy doesn't come too him naturally. ask him to be manik or gaurav he can do it in sleep but you can see the amount of work he is putting to be anurag. parth was part of iconic kyy and manan which aired on a music channel and was aimed at teenagers. yet i have come across fans who were teenagers, women in early twenties, late twenties and even mothers who loved him as manik and went on to become his fans. i have seen fans as far as from south america for manik and parth. let's look at three month old manan, the staircase scene when manik takes of nandini's jewelry became a rage when it was aired and that is called chemistry.
parth is trying too hard and trying alone. he as the onus to carry a whole show on his shoulders supported by his talented on screen family and he has to create chemistry and make anupre iconic. he seem to be going down in second due to lack of support. he is doing a prime time SP show where he is promoting himself so much, mind you he never did promote manik so much but manik became iconic. where as parth as anurag failed to become the sensation that barun, vivian, mohsin and he himself as manik became after their shows ipkknd, mb, yrkkh, kyy within three to four months of airing.
kasautii is big ship with too many holes in it. its only matter of time when the water will breach it. can ekta give it her midas touch which is clearly missing in terms of love story and the general story.
