Ishqbaaaz is all set to take a leap in the next couple of months. The new story will focus on the next gen of the Oberoi's. It will be the story of Shivaansh, the son of Shivaay (Nakuul Mehta) and Anika (Surbhi Chandna). It will also focus on his love story as well. At the same time, it will be a father-son story. A source closely associated with the show shared some details to Bollywood Life, "Ishqbaaaz is a huge brand for the channel and they want to take it forward in the best possible manner. Nakuul Mehta as Shivaay Singh Oberoi is inseparable from the story and he is a part of the post-leap phase. He will be shown as Shivaansh's dad and it will be a father-son story with the backdrop of the Oberoi Empire. It will also focus on his son's love story."
The source also clarified that he is not playing the son post-leap. "The makers have always tried to take a progressive stance. The rumour that Nakuul will be playing his own son is utter crap. He will be a dad only. Yes, there is no clarity about the rest of the characters so far. A lot of discussions are happening between the channel and creative team."
It seems the plan was to show to track on modern parenting with Shivaay - Anika being mom-dad to an infant. However, leading lady Surbhi Chandna was not keen on being shown as a pregnant mother on the show. "Ishqbaaaz is a huge property for Star Plus, especially in the foreign market.
