Nazar Milne Se Shuru Hui Kahaani- A thread on SamAina's twirls
Thank you @Ross11 for suggesting that I make an analysis thread on SamAina's twirls.
From the fall of 2017 my idea of intimacy changed. What I used to first measure through hugs and kisses, I started measuring through the growing proximity in SamAina's twirls. Every twirl symbolised the different moments in their journey. The journey of these two beautiful souls coming closer and becoming one.
Dil Deewana Bin Sajna Ke Maane Na- SamAina's first twirl
That first rush of hormones, that first pang of love, that first stroke of attraction. When I look at their first twirl, Sameer and Naina went through all this and a lot more. Over the past few days, strange things had been happening to both of them. Even before she first met him, Naina's green dupatta was already a balm on Sameer's wound. A symbolic tied around his hand that this girl with as small a thing as that tattered fabric stopped the leaking of Sameer's aching wounds. That fabric soon stretched to make Naina's presence in his life monumental to mend his gaping wounds. And in due course she not only mended those wounds but also gave him the strength to resolve them.
That first twirl marked the beginning of Naina's infatuation with Sameer. Her resolve to not be distracted from her aim made 2 minutes before she met Sameer broke in less than two seconds when she saw him. An electric current set her heart apace and she knew that this man was the 'toofan' she had been unconsciously waiting for her in life. From dropping the chewing gum leading to her haircut and the first moment she had ever felt beautiful to the pari she became in his and her own eyes. Sameer did feel a certain spark because he turned back to see her twice. He was affected but was immature. He had a lot more lessons to learn from his 'masterni' before he could learn to accept his feelings for her. Which is why he held himself back from leaning on her, from holding her hand. Because he didn't want to rely on her, he had never experienced that. The hand that would hold his when he was about to stumble and fall. He could not see it but she had been helping him in her own simple ways one tattered fabric at a time.
Both shocked, lost in each other's deep eyes, their hands stiff and apart. This first twirl had started a new saga of love, perhaps the best to greet Indian Tv so far.
'Naina debate meri aankhon mein nahin likhi hai'- Twirl two
Kitabein kahin pe choot gayi hai tujhe mai padhne lagi. The beautifully sung lyric describes Naina's state of mind the best in the second twirl. Happily staring into Sameer's eyes rather than the books she was holding. Because for her the debate was written there. A mesmerising dilemma that had gripped the poor guy's heart. What had started out as a bet for him turned into a life changing journey. Which taught him guilt, humanity, morality and most important of all; love. As they drew closer to each other and came to know small things about each other, song lyrics became replaced by their '24 ghante ki baatein'. Every time they uncovered a new layer of each other and fell deeper in love. Naina the topper who used to crib about even 1 mark in her text paper, forgot about the debate. Because she had started studying Sameer. And Sameer- the confused soul was doing things for the girl who was already imprinted on his heart without even realising their significance like the books he studied for her. He didn't even come to realise when her win had become so important for him that he kept motivating her for the debate.
The growth in their journey can be seen in their smiles betraying a certain level of comfort and warmth. No more the awkward pose with stiff hands but lost in each other's eyes, teasing and bantering they stood transported somewhere else altogether. This second twirl set both their hearts racing and left them struck by the other's presence. Because she went from the boring 'maniben' to the 'not bad' witty sipahi who now trusted him and lied for him.

Hum wafa karke bhi tanha reh gaye- Twirl Three
Unconditional love. That was something Sameer probably always wanted and when he received that and lost it, he fell in his own eyes. This guilt came in folds, every time Naina showed a new side of her to Sameer, he lost his heart a bit more to her and in turn started valuing her. Her pain became his pain which he felt with a magnified intensity when the teacher was beating Naina with the stick. His fists clenched because they were no more separate individuals, without realising they had become one.
As she made him fall in his own eyes, she made him confront the walls that had been engulfing him in loneliness, isolation and pent up anger. She brought out the gold in him and became his conscious. She started defining his moral compass. Subconsciously, he had started respecting Naina for her moral values and when she had taken him to her room in Mt. Abu, he refused. Because that threshold won't just risk Naina's dignity but could potentially splash mud on her own moral values. And as Naina's voiceover had narrated the morning they witnessed the rising sun together: Sameer who never shirked away from winning games, let go of the game because he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. Slowly, he had started leaning on Naina's love, care and warmth. The warmth she gave with her sweater, the love showered on him whenever she called him or tapped her pen, a gentle reminder that she was there and even in a class filled with others could see only him. Her heart was loyal to him and only him. Which is why in the third twirl he is leaning towards her because he wants to relieve the burden of his sadness and loneliness. But Naina is now shirking away from him, her hands clutching her schoolbag, once again determined to ignore his existence and focus only on the books she had drifted away from because of Sameer. But he too was determined to have her back in his life to lean on, to care and to value. His guilt made him realise that he could go to any extent just to win back her apology.
Every twirl has set a new depth in their proximity, awakening a new desire in them and making our hearts melt with feels. Maybe someday all barriers will break between them and they will given in to this proximity. Till then I dream of our dearest Mr. and Mrs. Maheshwari twirling at their wedding reception.
With this heart racing thought, I sign off for now. I will be back soon to update this thread, dear fam.
Bundles of love to all YUDKBHians,
