This is ridiculous what does poverty have to do with divorce rate. Even the richest of the richest people are also having divorce. Indeed poverty is a problem in itself and may be a contributing factor to divorce. However, to say that the rate of poverty in the USA is poverty is totally out of the question.

Most emerging and developing countries have a conservative cultures which shy away from taboo conversation such as divorce. Most of the women in these countries not just india are homemaker without their own source of income. It is not as easy for them to gain divorce even when they are not satisfied by the marriage that bound them. If desi and south asian or other conservative countries do not have such cultures and demographic we would seeing hike of divorce rates.
