The way they had shown VP, Ritiwik and other noon characters, it doesnt go very well if they just abandon Ritiwk just because he fell in love with a middle-class girl. I K3G Amitabh's character was like that for whom class, society matters but here noons are supposed to be down to earth as they came from middle-class background. And they love Ritiwk a lot so for them, Ritiwk falling in love with a girl was the happiest day due to his past. For ritwik also, his dad was his world it owuld be really out of character if he had married palak that time.

He needed a push. A betrayal from family members and Palak's marriage was that push. So i feel, during his wedding, it was meant to be only accepting feelings.
