I think actresses should not be paid equal just because they are females.

It should be based on merit.

Once you are capable enough to give 300 crore movies on your own. Lets say Katrina giving a 300 crore movie where she is dominating in all scenes, ads, its a movie based on her and we have a chughat like aditya chopra paired with her and if she delivers then we should give her same pay as salman.

Lets not give people free money on basis of gender...if women are ahead on something they can even earn more ...as far as its on merit.

In short it should be result driven and not gender driven.

I think you're severely misunderstanding the meaning of equal pay.

When women demand equal pay in ANY industry, they're asking to be paid THE SAME AMOUNT a man would've been paid for the same role and the same amount of hard work.

Like if a male superstar gets paid 15 cr for a lead role, the female must also be paid the same amount for the same role if the genders are flipped - which unfortunately, doesn't happen, DESPITE the fact that the women put in the same amount of hard work - sometimes even more - than their male counterparts.

So essentially, they ARE demanding to be paid on merit. Your first two choices are essentially the SAME THING because equal pay entails being paid based on the work you put in - not the GENDER you are.

A laborer lifting blocks in 40 centigrade and building a home puts more effort and suffers through more pain than a slob with fat belly sitting on his chair with keyboard on his abdomen and typing and doing some nerdy work. lol

Of course the later earns much much more

Because later gets the company more revenue

Here its not about the effort...they can even work more..

Maybe cameraman works more

But in the end money is generated by Salman Khan not Katrina

yeah but stardom is also something

you won't and shouldn't be paid jack regardless of how hard you have worked when you are an actor for 20 people..

it should definitely be based on how much of a crowd you can pull..how many people flock to the cinemas based on your name..

and the day a deepika/priyanka solely can make their movies do as well as aamir/salman..sure pay them the same

also going by your logic..rajkumar rao should be paid more than salman..doesn't work this way..it is not a classroom exam..you need to be paid keeping in mind your stardom and how many seats your name fills. .regardless of your gender

^I do agree with all you're saying. which is why the debate is so important because the SOCIETY AS A WHOLE needs to change, which can only happen if people in authority take drastic measures to make this happen.

Which leads to the argument that BW is a business and not a social service industry. So we need to decide which is more important to the industry as a whole and to individual producers - which again, leads to the fact that the discussion is extremely important and can't be concluded just by saying "well, face the reality because that's how it goes". NO. It needs to change because at the end of the day, it affects real people within that same industry - including people like Rajkummar Rao who are included in the equal pay bracket.
