Epilogue
Later that Evening
Shravan heard his mom excited squeal downstairs and announcing the good news to the family, looked like Nanu gave her the answer! He could hear Pushkar literally screaming "YES! YES!!"
Suman put her ears against her door hearing Nanu's voice "So they both accepted!! He said excited
She grinned gleaming still on the phone with Shravan who ran his fingers through his hair unable to control his happiness .
"Shravan"
"Sumo" they both said at the same time before his family came in his room to congratulate him . She smiled on the other line hearing everyone's excitement ! She hung up with her heart searing with happiness! Both families were so joyful And started distributing sweets amongst each other . Ramnath announced that they will be going to Tiwari Villa the next day to fix the wedding proposal and even exchange rings!
Shravan already bought a ring for her after the reunion party, he knew exactly which one she would like and didn't wait long to buy it!
The next day in the afternoon the Malhotra Family came to Tiwari Villa. They had a beautiful tray decorated with bangles, sweets and gifts ! It was a small ceremony keeping it just family for the moment. Shravan was coming in the door greeting everyone, making his way in with his family . He then saw Suman walking close to them and stared on mesmerised.
She was wearing a nice long white fitted anarkali , with her duppata nicely pleated over her left shoulder .Her hair were opened with nice long wavy curls . Her face was bright with a smile lingering on her face , she took the elders blessings as they settled in the main living area . He couldn't stop gazing at her she looked like an angel!
Pushkar walked to her bending down taking her blessings!
"Oye!" She moved back hitting him light
"I'm taking my bhabhi's blessings! "he teased laughing
She pinched his cheek sweetly as hugged her warmly "Im so happy for you guys" He said excitedly
Suman moved back as her gaze fell on Shravan wearing a nice dark beige Kurta top fitting him perfectly . Her eyes beamed up at him , he couldn't stop adoring his future wife ,she looked so sweet and cute blushing !He raised his brows at her playfully , she gave him a silent wink consenting to his outfit! Shravan walked towards nanaji and took his blessings.,
"Suman Beta come here " Nirmala said pointing her to sit next to her and hugged her warmly
"Remember Tiwariji When you first introduced us to Suman, my heart always wished that one day I could bring her home with me , and soon that will happen"
Shravan and Suman gazed on lovingly recalling their first meeting
"Who would have thought that one day they will get engaged "Nanu was glancing at them
"Well they did hit some bumps on the road but found their way back to each other ,right guys!" Pushkar said muching on a Ladoo
"Ok lets get them engaged before they change their minds! "Vandy said quickly passing Nirmala the tray of Bangles .All the ladies took turns to slid the bangles on her wrist and fed her some sweets. It was like a welcome ritual from the inlaws .
Shravan watched on seeing Sumo being showered with warmth by his family . He finally sat beside her ready to exchange rings, they both felt gleaming butterflies in their stomach ready for this new journey from engagement to wedding . Nirmala passed him the ring and he rightfully held her hand tenderly and slid the band as everyone cheered!
The ring was made out of a simple silver band with tiny diamonds contouring the band with the main diamond in the middle yet perfect for her feminine hands,it looks very beautiful on her finger ,not to big not to small just right! Suman loved it , it was exactly how she imagined it , simple yet gorgeous .Suman slid the silver ring band in his ring finger lovingly ,she knew Shravan wasn't a fan of gold neither was she .Everyone clapped happily and they both fed each other from the same laddo congratulating each other officially!
They both shared a satisfied grin yet glowing with happiness! The families mingled around looking at her ring , they took pictures together along with family members .
Shravan clicked a selfie with her and posted it on his social media
"Someone is in a hurry to change their relationship status on Facebook!" Pushkar teased
The priest came by to see their Kundali and announced it was a perfect match! HE suggested some wedding dates that was being discussed amongst the elder of the families ..
"I think 2 weeks is too early we have so much preparations to do maybe next month? "Anjali suggested
"Even I think next month is better "Manju chipped in
Shravan and Suman look unsatisfied, they wanted a closer date for sure!
"I think well be able to do it in two weeks! Shravan Suman what do you guys think "Nirmala asked
"I want a simple wedding and two weeks is fine for me "Suman reasoned glancing at him
"Same, im fine with two weeks and Im also not a big fan of grand weddings ..." HE didnt want to wait long , he wanted to make her his wife soon!
"So in two weeks it is! "Nanu confirmed as the others agreed .
Shravan and Suman intertwined their fingers excitedly wanted to jump and hug each other but they controlled themselves
They all stayed until evening had dinner and dessert and talked about upcoming functions and discussed the theme and dresses .
The Malhotra were getting ready to leave , they said their goodbyes and left with much excitement and looking forward to the wedding! Shravan was saying his goodbyes and bent down to take Nanu's blessings
"Stay happy always.."
"Nanu , if you don't mind ..can I take Sumo out for a bit ".. he wanted to spend more time with Suman. Her eyes brightened up ,she was also hoping to spend alone time with him .
Nanu eyes warmed up at him as if he was seeing the younger Shravan standing in front of him. He remembered he would ask his permission before taking her for bike rides or play badminton or just take her out to play.
"Yes you can .. "He somewhere loved the fact that he still respected him and asked permission before "Next time you don't have to ask , she will be yours soon so I better get used to it .."
.They got permission without hesitance, nanu was very supportive of their relationship and wasn't going to set limits they were going to get married and if spending time together will increase their love so be it! Shravan grinned happily signalled Suman to come; before she left she gave her grandfather a hug
Shravan took Suman to a quiet hill station park on the top and sat on the car with her . They had their hands intertwined warmly with her head resting on his chest snuggled in his embrace. The sky was clear with the stars sparkling gleaming and the full moon shining light on them .
"So ..Were finally engaged ..". he said holding her tighter
"It was a long way ...but we made it" she said sweetlyand planted a kiss on his cheek
They both gazed in each other's eyes,
"I can't wait to spent the rest of my life with you Sumo, who once was my childhood friend "he said holding her chin up
She faced him cupping his jaw lovingly "It sometimes feels surreal falling in love with your childhood friend but it was meant to happen ..."
"You were always meant to be mine "His said glancing down at her lips and cupping her cheek
Shravan came closer to her lips and locked them tenderly holding her around her waist firmly .Her fingers roamed behind his neck raking his hair lovingly , they both felt their lips melting passionately into the kiss .
After few moments they released each other lips ,yet their forehead clued together
"I love you.. "They both said against each other's lips with a beautiful smile lingering on their faces , they were excited to start a new journey towards their togetherness.
