PART 1 A

After all left Anika felt bad that she unknowingly had evoked a raw pain inside the person who saved her life, she wanted to apologize for the same but she didn't knew what stopped her.

She consoled herself thinking that her apology could hurt him more. Anika was under observation for a day in the hospital, her chain of thoughts broke with a shrill ringtone of her mobile.

She picked up the call and said knowing the person "Haan Vini! Kya hua hai?"

Vinayak in an irritated tone replied "Ani! Kabhi to baat sunn liya kar ... Kyu gayi thi us gang ke peeche wo bhi sirf 1 inspector & 2 constable leke ... Kaha hai tu abhi?"

Anika sighed and said "Vini! Kya karti unhe bhaag jaane deti kya ... waise wo pakde gaye hai na?"

Vinayak in more irritated tone "Haan pakade gaye! Ab poori report aapko mail kar doon Madam?"

Anika said with a laugh "Vini! Tu bhi na ... accha ek kaam kar ghar pe zara sambhaal lena please ... warna khamkha bakheda khada ho jaayega"

Vinayak with a light smile "Haan jee! Main dekh loonga aur koi hukum ... waise kaha hai tu abhi?"

Anika replied bit consciously "City Care Hospital Main ... wo actually kal ladte hue ek ne peeche se sir pe maar diya aur main behosh ho gayi thi ... waha ke Doctors yaha le aaye aur ..."

Vinayak didn't let her complete and said yelling on her "Ani! Tu pagal hai kya mujhe ek phone nahi kar sakti thi ... tujhe pata nahi akal kab aayegi"

Anika said with a smile "Ab bhadak mat aur jaldi aa" with that she disconnected the call.

Vinayak next moment left the place to meet her. After a small drive he reached there and enquired about the room and finally found her in one of the room of special ward.

He entered inside & said giving him a packet having clothes and some fruits "Le! Tere kapde aur kuch khane ko laaya hoon & added looking at her state "kitni chot aayi hai tujhe ... tu baat sunti kyu nahi ... Bappa tujhe akal de aur ek accha sa pati jo tujhe jhel sake"

Anika smiled & said "Accha! Tujhe kya lagta hai meri shadi ke baad tu bach jaayega ... balki teri class lene ke liye ek candidate aur hoga"

Vinayak said raising his brow "Really! Jis din teri harquaton ki poal patti maine kholi na tab dekhna"

Their chat was broken by Yog who came back completing his rounds and said in a cheerful voice "So Miss Fighter! Aapko aaj ke din to yahi rehna padega ... Maine nurse ko bol diya hai wo sab intizaam kar deegi aur evening main MRI ke baad aap jaa sakti hai ... aur bill ki chinta mat kariye zayada lamba nahin hoga"

Anika smiles at him and Vinayak said with a smile "Lamba ho to bhi koi baat nahi ... pay ye thodi na karegi"

Anika smiled and introduced him saying "Vini! Ye Dr. Vashisht hain inhone hi meri jaan bachayi" turning to Yog said "Dr. Vashisht! Ye hai ACP Vinayak Rao Newalkar mere childhood friend"

Yog smiled in affirmation and said "Good to see you ... aap dono jaise officers ko dekh ke lagta hai ki humari protection sahi haathon main hai ... take care ... I take your leave"

Vinayak said thanking him "Dr. Vashisht! Thanks a lot"

Yog said with a smile "Not at all! ye humara kaam hai ... Jab aap loog jaan ka jokhim leke apna kaam is tarha karte hai to hum itna to kar hi sakte hai" with that Yog left the room and went back to his cabin.

Anika kept looking at his retreating back with a guilt feeling. Vinayak noticed this and said "Ani! Kya hua?"

Anika with a sigh said "Kuch nahi Vini! Mujhe bahut kharab lag raha hai ... You know Dr. Vashisht ka right haath kamzoor hai ... maine anjaane main hi sahi par unka dil dukha diya ... Main sorry kehna chahti thi par fir laga ye sab aur embarrassing hoga"

Vinayak smiled & said "Kuch cheezon pe humara bas nahi chalta hai Ani ... aur jo loog apni physical kamzoori ko peeche chood kar apni life main kuch achive karte hai unki respect karni chahiye ... Waise banda bada handsome hai ... Doctor ko dekh ke bimaar hone ka mann kar raha hai kya?" and winks at her.

Anika said smacking him irritated "Vini! tu maar khaayega"

Vinayak said holding her injured arm "rehne de! Waise hi tooti footi haalath hai zayada uchalegi to tera wo Dr. Vashisht bhi tujhe repair nahi kar paayega"

Anika said irritated "Ek minute! Dr. Vashisht ke saath mera lagane ka kya matlab hai?"

Vinayak with a naughty smile replied "Is liye ki wo tera ilaaj kar raha hai"

Anika said in anger "mujhe theek hone de fir batati hoon"

Vinayak said with a smile "Accha chal kuch khale" with that he opened the fruit packet & gave her fruits in a plate to eat.

While having fruits Vinayak suddenly exclaimed "Ani! Wo apple mat khana"

Anika asked confused "Kyu! Theek to hai ... aur apple sehat ke liye bahut accha hota you know an apple a day keeps Doctor away"

Vinayak said winking at her "And if Doctor his handsome keep apples away"

Anika in anger smudged the plate filled with fruit peals on his head & said "Fruit facial se jee nahi bhara hai to bagal waala bed tere liye khaali karwaa deti hoon"

Vinayak said growling "Sir pe chot lagne se dimagi santulan bigad gaya hai kya ... ab waapas kaise jaaunga main meeting hai abhi"

Anika replied "Good! Tang karne ka fal to milna chahiye thana" After feeding Anika with usual banters finally Vinayak left the hospital after informing Siddhi about Anika's condition and asked her to take care at home.

That afternoon Jannat came in to keep a check in the ward and said checking Anika's wound "ab dard to nahi hai?"

Anika with a smile nodded in negative and said "Dr. Siddiqui! Aap logo ka bahut bahut shukriya"

Jannat smiled & said "Hum sirf zariya hai aapko yadi shukriya kehna hai to us upar waale ko kahiye"

Anika smiled & asked with a hitch "Dr. Siddiqui! Aap bura na mane to ek baat poochu?"

Jannat replied "Jee Poochiye"

Anika said with a hitch "I know subah jo maine kiya wo galat tha ... Dr. Vashisht ko bahut bura laga hoga ..."

Jannat said stopping her "Anika Ji! Aisi koi baat nahi hai ... unke saath jo hua wo ek haadsa tha aur bhai jaan ka dil bahut bada hai wo aisi baton ka bura nahi manate"

Anika smiled and nodded in positive and Jannat added emotionally "Yadi wo nahi hote to Nawaaz zinda nahi bachte ... 2 saal pehle research ke dauraan dono jab kaam kar rahe the short circuit ki vajah Nawaaz ko bachate hue unka haath aisa ho gaya"

Anika with surprise asked "Kaun si research?"

Jannat replied "Atoms & Anti-radiation pe ... actually hum teeno Bhabha Atomic Research Center Mumbai main the saath main the ... us haadse ke baad unke valid ne unhe wo kaam band karne ko kaha aur fir unhone ye charitable hospital join kiya jaha wo gareeb majbooron ka ilaaj karte hai ...

Par abhi bhi research center jaate rehte hai apne valid ko bina bataye ... accha main chalti hoon aapka MRI 6 Baje hoga Nurse le jaayegi aapko ... khuda hafiz" with that she walked out of the room.

In evening both friends Yog & Jaanawaaz are having coffee, Yog is immersed in a case file & Jaanawaaz is enjoying his coffee.

After few minutes when he sees that Yog is not paying attention he said shaking his shoulders "Aye Dost faramosh tera hosh kaha hai?"

Yog said irritated removing his lean hand "Haddiyan to teri hai hai par tera ghosht kaha hai?"

Jaanawaaz said annoyed "tu na badi betuki Shayari karne laga hai ... aur kya ye sab leke baitha hai sukoon se coffee to pee le"

Yog smiled and said "Haan bhai! Pee to raha hoon ... sooch raha tha ki aaj kaam jaldi khatam kar ke Center jaau kuch readings check karne ke liye kaha tha maine"

Jaanawaaz said bit annoyed "Tu sunta kyu nahi Yog! Jo hua wo kum tha kya Chacha jaan ne mana kiya hai tu fir bhi nahi maanta"

Yog said sternly "Nawaaz! Haadse hote rehte hain ... Main apni mehnat apna saara kaam Papa ki insecurity ki vajah se nahi chodounga ... wo nahi jaante par tum to jaante ho na yadi ye experiment successful raha to kitna fayda hoga logo ko"

Jaanawaaz said bit annoyed "Jaanta hoon! Ye bhi pata hai ki kaise kaise loog uske peeche pade hai isliye mana kar raha hoon"

Yog in an assured voice "Nawaaz! tum tension mat loo aisa kuch nahi hoga kyuki ..."

Suddenly Yog went quite seeing Anika who was there for MRI. Yog completed the MRI test and after looking at the report which was normal he discharged Anika along with list of medicines for few days. Anika thanked them and made way to her home.

After a while Anika reached her home & as soon as she entered the gate Siddhi her sister opened the door and said looking at her bandage "Di! Ye kya hua aapko? Vini ne to kaha tha ki aap kisi meeting ke liye bahar gaye hoo ... Ye chot kaise lagi?"

Anika smiled & said "Kuch nahi hua Siddhi! Wo ek smuggling gang ko pakadte hue chot lag gayi"

Siddhi in anger said "aane do aapke us Vini ko! Is baar uski taange nahi todi to kehna"

Anika rolled her eyes and said "Siddhi! Use maine mana kiya tha ... Maa ka to pata hai na tumhe Papa bhi Kham Kha pareshan ho jaate"

Siddhi said narrowing her eyes "Di! Ye theek nahi hai kam se kam mujhe ek call to kar deti mujhe"

Anika with a smile "Accha wo sab chood kal tera birthday hai bata kya present chahiye"

Siddhi hugged her sister and said "aapko kal subah mere saath mandir aana hoga"

Anika smiled and hugged her back "Done! Aur kal main jaldi aaungi aur tera favorite khana banaung"

Siddhi took her inside the house & when Girish saw wounded Anika he said in concerned voice "Anika beta! Ye kya hua?"

Anika smiled & said "Kuch Nahi Papa! Bas wo thoda shootout main chot lag gayi thi"

Girish said annoyed "Anika Beta! Tumne kisi ko bataya kyu nahi?"

Anika said casually "Kya batati Papa! That's part of my job" with that she moved to her room.

Mamta in annoyed tone said "Dekhiye! Aap Anika ko samjhayiye na ... wo kisi ki baat nahi sunti aur uska wo dost Vinayak ... wo bhi use shai deta hai ... yahi haal raha to ek din hume pachtana padega"

Girish said nodding his head in negative "Mamta! Tum Anika ki chinta mat kiya karo ... wo smaajhdaar hai aur ye sab chot lagna to uske kaam ka hissa hai ... Mujhe meri beti par itna vishwaas hai ki wo koi galat kaam nahi karegi" After a while all had dinner with usual chit chat.

Next Morning it was Siddhi's Birthday so all wished her lovingly as she was the youngest and spoilt brat of the house. As per Promise Anika and Siddhi went to the Shiv Temple near her house to perform pooja on Siddh's name like every year.

After a while Pandit ji performed pooja and gave them the Prasad and they started to return back to the house. As soon as they got down from the steps Anika saw an aged Man near age of her father who just got down from the taxi with a brief case of black color, a man snatched his brief case hitting his head hard as soon as he paid the bill to Taxi Driver.

Anika in next spur of the moment threw empty pooja thali in her bag targeting his had & next moment plate hit his head and that man lied on the road itself.

Anika ran to him and took the briefcase and to hand it over to man. She saw that man was bit injured and worried about his briefcase.

She said handing over the briefcase "Ye leejiye aapka brief case! Ise hi dhoond rahe the na aap?"

Man took the briefcase and checked all the belongings in it and replied with a sigh of relief "Thanks Beta! Aapne waqt pe bacha liya ... isme kaafi important papers the aur main bahut darr gaya tha"

Anika smiled and said "Your welcome uncle! Waise main Police main hoon isliye ye mera kaam hai isliye thanks ki zaroorat nahi hai"

Man smiled and said blessing her "God bless you! Isi tarah se aap logo ki madat karte rahiye ... Ye mera card hai"

He hands over his card to Anika saying "In case kuch aisa jisme meri madat ki zaroorat ho to mujhe zaroor batana ... main chalta hoon" Anika wished him back & next moment he zoomed out in his car.

Anika handed over the robber to the local area police and when she turned she found his Gold chain with a Pendent of OM lay on the road, she picked up the chain and muttered "ye unki chain to yahi reh gayi"

Siddhi said shaking her "Di chalo na! 9 baj gaye hai late ho jaayenge"

Anika nodded with a smile and said "Haan chalte hai! Par unki chain to yahi reh gayi sone ki lagti hai"

Siddhi looked at the chain and said "Wow! Ye to bahut sundar hai ... Di lagta hai koi bahut rich family se hai"

Anika looked at the card and said "Ye to koi Administrative service officer hai IAS Manohar Vashisht ... address bhi zayada door nahi hai ... Main de aati hoon wo loog pareshaan ho jaayenge"

As soon as she was about to leave she received a call from Vinayak informing about an urgent meeting & case she said after finishing the call "Siddhi! mujhe abhi nikalna hai ... chal ghar chalte hai nahi to deer ho jaayegi"

Both hurriedly went back home & after getting ready Anika left for the meeting. Early evening when case was solved she finally took leave from the office and went to the Vashisht Villa' to meet Manohar & to return his chain.

She pressed the bell and servant opened the door and asked politely "Jee! Aapko kisse milna hai?"

Anika said "Mujhe Manohar Sir se milna hai subah unki chain gir gayi thi to wahi lautane aayi hoon"

Servant let her in & informed Manohar and Yog too about her arrival. Manohar went down immediately as he was tense about the chain, it was special gift from his dead wife.

As soon as Yog got the information about the chain he too ran down and to his surprise he saw Manohar and Anika talking to each other. Yog with surprise exclaimed "Anika ji! Aap yaha? ... To subah aapne papa ka briefcase bachaya tha?"

Anika nodded with a smile and said "Jee haan! Lagta hai aapka favor return karna tha isliye main waha maujood thi"

Manahor with surprise asked "tum dono ek doosre ko jaante hoo?"

Anika with a smile "Actually parso mujhe shoot out ke dauran chot lagi thi aur main behosh ho gayi thi ... Inhone sahi time pe mera ilaaj kiya ... tabhi pechaan hui thi"

Manohar said with a smile "Good! Accha hua tumhe chain mil gayi ... Yog bahut pareshaan tha subah se ... ye uski Maa ki chain hai na wohi ise pehenta hai ... kal uski chain ka hook toot gaya tha to main jeweler se use banwa ke use dena bhool gaya aur subah us haadse main wo tumhe mil gayi"

Anika smiled in response & hands over the chain to Yog. Manohar suddenly gets a call and says "Beta! Main abhi aata hoon ... aap loog baate karo"

Turning to Yog said "Beta! Tum zara chai naashte keliye bolo ... I will just join you" with that he went to his room to complete his call.

Yog excused himself and went to his room anxiously. After a while he came down & joined Anika, but he looked bit tense and dishearten.

Anika after a casual chat asked "Dr. Vashisht! Aapse ek baat pooch sakti hoon"

Yog consciously with a forced smile replied "Jee poochiye?"

Anika with a sly smile "Aap kuch pareshan lag rahe hai ... kuch dhoond rahe hai kya ... aapki chain to mil chuki hai"

Yog with a forced smile "Nahi aisi koi baat nahi hai ... wo main kuch aur dhoond raha tha jo mil nahi raha"

Anika said with a smile "lagta hai aap apni cheezon ko leke kaafi peculiar hai ... par aisa kya kho gaya jisse aap itna pareshaan hoke dhoond rahe hai ... Main kuch madat kar sakti hoon?"

Yog smiled back & said "Haan tha to kuch important par shayad aap usme madat nahi kar paayengi ... but aapne jitna bhi kya uske liye Thanks a lot ... main hamesha ye chain apne paas rakhta hoon Mummy ki yaad banake ... Waise Papa bata rahe the ki aapne unhe kis tarah bachaya ... I am really obliged"

Anika smiled & said "Wo mera kaam tha Dr. Vashisht ... waise bhi aapne meri jo madat ki uske badle main itna to kar hi sakti hoon"

Next moment servant brings tea and refreshments and both Yog and Anika started having Tea and after few minutes Manohar too joined in and after thanking them for their hospitality Anika said taking leave "Main chalti hoon! Kaafi deer ho gayi hai"

Manohar said with a smile "Aaati rehna beta" turning to Yog said "Beta main nikalta hoon meeting hai ek" with that he went upstairs to get ready.

Yog came outside along with Anika to see her off and Anika said with a sweet smile "Take care Dr. Vashisht! I really hope ki aap jo dhoond rahe hai wo aapko jaldi mil jaaye" after a while adds with a naughty tone in her voice "waise jo aap dhoond rahe hai kahi ye to nahi" says showing him SD card from her pocket.

Yog went totally stunned for a moment and said fumbling "wo ...ye ... aapko ..."

Anika said cutting him short "Dr. Vashisht! Ab ise zara sambhaal ke rakhyiye ... kahin aapke papa ne ise dekh liya to bahut gussa hoonge ... I am sorry ander isliye nahi diya kyuki servants the aur uncle bhi ... All the best and good luck" with that she moved out of the house leaving a stunned and pale face Yog behind.

He could just mutter a "Thanks" in shocked state and went back to his room thanking his stars.
