Chapter 54 - Khushi's Entry at AR!
"Di, Naniji I feel overwhelmed that you all love me so much... But please don't be angry at Arnav... Even I felt anger initially but he was just confused and did not want to throw a friend or a past colleague and then he did not even know about my anxieties... You all got worked up because you all knew I suffer from nightmares but he didn't... He has not given any chance to complain since we decided to give our marriage a second chance... We will work it out ourselves... He is no villain for god sake, he is my hero..." Khushi really wanted to request family to back off... Else it won't be good for their relationship...
"Yeah, we understand... We were really harsh on your Arnav..." Nani smiled at Khushi...
"OK so you will talk to him, right?" Khushi asked smiling back...
"Wow, Arnav is your hero and what are we? For loving you so much?" La, NK and Shyam looked at her faking anger...
"You are family guys... But I don't want any arguments or grudges among us..." Khushi politely said...
Little did Khushi know that Di, Nani and family already talked to their Chote and sorted it out...? They had realized it themselves and wanted to give the couple space... Arnav also has his ASR methods to push back family...
"Di, will you like if I poke into everything you and Jijaji do? Come on I mean, Jiju goes to USA all the time that too Las Vegas and he has membership of that hi-fi club to keep himself busy... Right Jiju? Arnav looked at Shyam and winked...
"What the? What club at Las Vegas? I thought you got there to work" Anjali asked Shyam curiously...
"Of course our corporate handle few casinos there..." Shyam fumbled by sudden attack though he is not doing anything wrong...
"Shyam, we need to talk..." Anjali took Shyam to their room and Arnav smirked...
"And NK, I never told La what you did after going back to London last year while La was mending her broken heart here... That you were single and readily mingling... And you guys were giving me hard time, really?" ASR tone was dripping throughout...
"NK, did you date after going back to London last year?" La asked NK in no nonsense tone...
"Not really..." NK also fumbled with sudden attack and glared at Arnav...
"NK, now..." La pulled NK with her to study room... Arnav controlled his laugh...
"Chote, this is not fair..." Nani smiled at him nodding her head...
"Nani, everything is fair in love and war... And my family is at war with me for my own love... So I can't help it..." He shrugged his shoulders and walked out for jogging...
"Khushi, I want you come with me to office today... You need to sign some papers. Lawyers are also coming..." Arnav announced as soon as he came back from jogging...
"Why? What paperwork now?" Khushi was flabbergasted.
"Chill Khushi, you will like the surprise..." Arnav promised her and both got ready to go to work...
"I must say you are wearing saris all the time these days... You look drop dead gorgeous... And red again?" Arnav asked her curiously...
"Nothing specific Arnav... You got this one for me last week remember so I thought to wear it... Why any problems?" Khushi asked thinking he liked red but now what happened...
"Nothing, how will I work if you keep looking like this?" He winked at her...
"Shut up Arnav, you always think only about... Err... Let's go now... I was thinking of going and meeting the "Food Champs" producers later or maybe tomorrow... I will run the paperwork by you to review... Please guide me..." Khushi pushed him out the door...
To both their annoyance, Sheetal was already there at AR office...
"Hey Arnie, good morning... I am here to start work..." Sheetal came forward to hug him ignoring Khushi completely as usual and annoying her further... Arnav stepped back feeling awkward and just forwarded his hand to greet her...
Sheetal realized it and felt insulted but she had to suck it up...
"Sheetal, we have major task at hand this morning... I am busy until 11 am or so, I would request you come back after 11 am and we will discuss. I am not too sure if we have a job for you here at AR and plus we have to go through HR formalities of back ground checks and cross verification of your latest work experience before we can offer any job anywhere... That's a new policy at AR Designs thanks to you..." He told her in no nonsense tone...
"Arnie, don't you trust me?" Sheetal asked him huskily with all the drama...
"Sheetal, you and I both know what happened in the past. That was the day I stopped trusting or putting blind faith... Now AR follows strict policies and processes. And look at what level AR Designs stands now... I will not bend rules for anyone, even for myself... And I still don't trust you fully with your manipulating habits... I might just recommend you with my vendors because you are single mom but nothing beyond..." He was strict and declared she has to follow the rules if she wants to join back AR.
"No problem at all Arnie... Let's follow the process then and offer me or refer me for a job when you are satisfied..." Sheetal was suddenly sweating... She wiped her forehead and barely spoke after that...
"Let's go Khushi..." Arnav took Khushi's hand and walked to his cabin where lawyers were waiting...
"Khushi, from now on you will also be part of AR and my empire. You are joining as member of Board of Directors just like Nani and Di. It's your choice whether you want to be active member or passive member like Di and Nani... Choice is totally yours..." Arnav announced.
"What? Are you kidding me?" Khushi was shocked with such a big announcement and such a big responsibility...
"No my dear wifey, you will be part of AR Designs starting today. As I said don't feel the pressure... It's totally your choice how much you want to involve..." Arnav held her hand and calmed her down...
"But as my wife, you should have a privilege and say at AR. And being part of Board of Directors is a great start... Arnav looked her asking what she is still thinking...
"Ok, if you say so... I accept the position" Khushi smiled at him still tensed... Arnav took her in a bone crushing hug after paperwork was done and lawyers left...
"That's like my girl... Just great! Khushi, I am so proud of you... Congratulations and this sure calls for big time celebrations in the evening... Let me inform Di to go ahead with her plans..." Arnav texted Di.
"So she knew?" Khushi asked curious...
"Of course, everyone knows at home and even your parents... It was surprise for you, not for them..." Arnav confirmed sheepishly...
"Khushi, one more thing... As an AR employee, I have enrolled you on medical policy and added your parents as your dependents. I have sent admin staff to get the forms filled up by Amma and Baoji... And Amma and Baoji will go for thorough medical checkup tomorrow. I have booked appointments for them. Let's make sure Amma has no heart issues and if any, we take proactive measures..." Arnav informed her about medical details...
"How do you know about Amma's heart problem? I mean she is ok now but she had mild attack couple of years ago when we thought she was unable to breathe due to heavy cold and congestion..." Khushi was curious...
"Don't worry about how I found out... Important is to take care of them and one less worry for you..." Arnav kissed her on her forehead...
"Thank you so much Arnav..." Khushi felt overwhelmed with his gesture...
"Did you like my surprise?" Arnav asked her... It was almost 11.30 am and lunch time...
"Yes of course... I love it..." Khushi hugged him again and pecked him...
"A simple hug won't cut it Khushi, I need more..." Arnav winked at her...
"Stop it Arnav... But I can treat you for lunch right now... Lunch with member of Board of Directors! I can sure act pricy..." Khushi stopped him from talking with a naughty smile and hugged him tight...
"Hey Arnie, hope you are done by now... Can we talk?" Sheetal barged in before Khushi could say something... Khushi was irritated like crazy by now and decided to talk to Aman on how to get rid of this pest...
"Khushi wait..." And before that she was gone out of his office...
"Sheetal, do you have any common sense to knock the door? I am here with my wife talking something important..." Arnav was totally frustrated about Khushi walking out on him again... He somehow never like that part in his life...
"Aman, did you get the report on Sheetal?" Khushi talked straight to the point...
"No Hi, hello... What happened Khushi? What has irked you so much today?" Aman looked at Khushi and then at Sheetal in ASR's cabin...
"Oh, you are so going to love this... I must say this woman has guts to step in here... Maybe she thought background checks are not done in India and she can get away with it..." My doubts were always right about her... Aman was proud of his instinct too...
"What do you mean?" Khushi was curious...
"Ok, let me tell you the background now about Sheetal... By the way hearty congrats on joining AR and as a Director, you should know this..." Aman smiled at Khushi...
"Last time during a very huge and important contract, there was leak of information happened and Sheetal was at the center of it... She did not accept it and made a big drama... ASR was also adamant for his ethics and asked her to resign and walk out... We both somehow managed new numbers last minute in the tender to grab it... He regretted his mistake to hire a friend without much enquiry and from then we enforced strict policies and procedures... That international deal helped us not only establish in the market but also reach sky heights... Arnav never liked her back then, she wasn't even a close friend, and even the foolish dates in college were all Sheetal's drama... She asked him for a car ride couple of times and they picked up coffee from drive through and she called it a date, how desperate?" Aman told her the history behind Sheetal's exit from AR in the past...
Khushi was proud that Arnav never told her details about their dates maybe not wanting to disrespect a woman but she was shocked to see how low Sheetal can stoop...
"Wow, what's in the report?" Khushi again came to the point...
"She has had long list of frauds, cheating and leaking information and money laundering... In fact she is on wanted list by couple of corporate companies in London... Maybe she thought we won't do a global verification on her and she has pretty clean records in India... She might have used fake names, different phones here back then... Two times she has even pleaded guilty in London and yet managed to repeat the corporate crimes" Aman disclosed details...
"Let's go to Arnav and stop him as soon as possible... She has been sitting on his head begging for a job..." Khushi was quick...
"Don't worry, he won't. How much ever she is after him, ASR will never compromise when it comes to work and family..." Aman was sure...
Aman and Khushi reached Arnav's cabin and Sheetal was surprised at how close Aman is to Khushi also and Khushi seemed to have captured hearts of office staff as well...
Aman gave the report to ASR... Arnav glanced through it and was somewhere not surprised at all... In fact he was happy his last decision to throw Sheetal out was always right... Back then she did not accept and created drama as if someone else is trying to frame her because they are jealous of her closeness with ASR... But it is crystal clear now... Somewhere it gave him a relief that he did not wrong her but she was the culprit...
"So Sheetal, what makes you think you will get a job at AR or referral from me after being involved in so many fraud cases and even being on wanted list by two corporate companies in UK?" Arnav asked her bluntly... He didn't want to waste even a minute more on her...
"What nonsense Arnav?" Sheetal acted shocked and something impossible...
"No more nonsense Sheetal... After your fiasco last time, AR has recruited the best Security and Background Check Company... They are six sigma, make one mistake in a million and I am sure you are NOT that mistake... They produce global report on anyone overnight..." Arnav was proud of his company and work ethics...
"Sheetal, you have even pleaded guilty to some of your crimes... But again there has been money laundering charges on you and you ran away from London to avoid felony charges" Aman smirked and smiled looking at Khushi...
"Oh so it's ASR's insecure wife asked you to run false reports on me?" Sheetal attacked Khushi out of nowhere...
And there came a tight slap from Khushi... She was shocked...
"Oh lady, you can do better than that... Just pointing fingers at others for no reason won't help you... Especially when your own past and future both is so dark and dingy... As a member of Board of Directors, it is my responsibility towards our company... And you are nowhere close to AR standards... Now would you please get out and stop wasting our time? You are never hired to be fired so I guess just get lost..." Khushi didn't even find it necessary to look at Sheetal after that... She took a seat on sofa and started reading some magazine...
Arnav was shocked was an understatement... He never expected Sheetal to act so vile with Khushi, but Khushi surprised him more by tackling Sheetal with a panache...
"ASR, say something..." Sheetal pleaded looking at Arnav...
"Just get lost and if possible don't show your face again... There you go... I said it..." Arnav asked her to vanish in thin air before he calls the security guard...
"Khushi, don't think you won... I will come back with my son Aarav and get him his rights..." Sheetal announced smirking...
"Don't worry, I have already taken care of that... Aarav is back to Angels' orphanage from where you adopted him with fake data about yourself... AR will be taking care of his education and other needs... You are on all news channels right now with lovely history of frauds and money laundering... I just was fooling you until I get the reports and make sure to hand you over to police and you walked into the trap... This is what I should have done last time but I guess never too late... You will be having hard time to get out of jail first... So don't worry about winning or challenging ASR's wife... Now just get out hell out of here..." Arnav roared scaring the whole office staff downstairs...
Aman could see Arnav looking at Khushi wanting some answers... Arnav was surprised to see Khushi's calm reaction to Sheetal's sudden attack... Clearly Khushi knew it in advance and had seen it coming...
Aman decided to give them privacy and walked out the door behind Sheetal... He informed security and receptionist to not allow Sheetal in any of AR premises in future... Sheetal thought to run and hide, but bumped straight into police and was arrested.
