I hope you enjoy reading the rest of you, folks!

Problem in....

The perfect marriage II

To keep your marriage brimming,
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you're wrong admit it;
Whenever you're right shut up!

Ogden Nash

Previously:

Walia's were invited at some party, someone shot a gun at JW; shocking everyone, but luckily nothing happened to him.

Massi called the Pandit-ji the next day to do Havan and Bani overheard their terrifying conversation.

Jai and Tarun are in search to find the shooter, to get some answers.

He was tired.

He checked his watch and muttered a curse under his breath. It was just past 3 am in the morning.

He wanted nothing more than to be where he was when he got the phone call from Tarun 2 hours prior. In bed, with his wife in his arms.

Muttering another curse, he wandered around the place. He badly wanted to find out more about the shooter.

He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to find Tarun there.

"It looks like our guess was right. Everything is seems fine. I'm going to head home, you should do the same," Tarun said.

He checked his watch again. "Yeah, Bani will probably be wondering where I am."

He watched as Tarun stopped short and stared at him.

"What?" he said.

"Bani doesn't know you're here?"

"She was asleep," he replied simply.

"You're telling me you got my phone call … and you left, in the middle of the night, and you didn't tell your wife you were leaving?"

"She was asleep," he said again with annoyance and then shrugged his shoulders.

He frowned as Tarun laughed at him.

"What's so funny?"

"You are," Tarun said. "You are going to be in for it when you get back home, Jai."

"Bani knows how things are at the moment," he said, but he couldn't help but lick his lips nervously.

"That may be true, but it still doesn't mean she won't be pissed that you woke up and disappeared in the middle of the night."

He didn't reply. He just licked his lips nervously again.

"Has she called? I bet you she's called," Tarun grinned, shaking his head. "Where's your phone?"

"In my jacket, in the car," he said, already walking quickly towards the car, with Tarun following him.

He grabbed his phone out of his jacket and, sure enough, there were 6 missed calls. He quickly dialled into his voicemail and cringed as he listened to the first message.

Her first message was worried, wanting to know where he was.

Her second message was frantic, begging him to call her back to let her know he was okay.

Her third message was borderline maniac, crying as she rambled all the different possible worst-case scenarios she was imagining he might be in.

Her fourth message was furious, having just spoken to Ranveer, who arrived right after he left and had remained awake to accompany her, who informed her that Jai had to leave to see Tarun at somewhere, it was an emergency.

He shut his phone and muttered a curse under his breath, bringing one hand up to pinch at the bridge of his nose as he squeezed his eyes shut, his mind racing.

He opened his eyes to find Tarun smiling knowingly at him.

"It's not funny." He growled.

Tarun clapped one hand onto his back. "Good luck to married life, Jai."

He didn't say a word. He just grabbed his jacket and practically threw in the back seat of his car, scowling as he heard Tarun's laughter.

He made it home in record time and jumped out of his BMW SUV, walking into the front door of the mansion.

He noticed Ranveer visibly sigh in relief when he spotted him.

Nodding once to Ranveer, he continued walking towards inside, but stopped when Ranveer cleared his throat. He turned his head to look at him.

"Mamaji... Bani mammy... umm … she's worried." Ranveer said haltingly.

Ranveer immediately shut his mouth and backed up two steps when Jai levelled a glare at him in response.

He walked into the mansion to find her pacing in the main hall, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, dressed in her robe.

She stopped pacing abruptly when she saw him and remorse washed over him when he could tell she had been crying.

He took his jacket off and laid it on the back of one of the couches as he approached her, "Bani, I'm sor..."

"Are you hurt?" She cut him off.

"No." He answered hesitantly.

"Were you attacked?" She asked.

"No."

"Were you, at some point tonight, tied up and kidnapped, or locked up somewhere?"

He gave her a bewildered look. "No. What..."

"Did you leave your mobile phone?"

He reflexively clenched and unclenched his hands at her question. "Um, no, I didn't left my phone."

"So there's nothing that physically could have kept you from dialling a phone?"

He raised his hands in apologetic suggestion. "I should have called."

"You're damned right you should have called!" She snapped, stomping her foot in agitation.

"I'm sorry." He said, but she had already started talking over him.

"I wake up in the middle of the night and you're gone! Not a note, not a call, nothing! You're not answering your phone, either, so I'm thinking that you're hurt, that you must be hurt, otherwise I would have at least gotten a call! But I can't call the police, can I? How would that look? Your wife has no idea where you are, so she has to call other people in the middle of the night, looking for you? Not to mention that if I did ask all the family members, Massi would come to know the truth, and then everyone would have been just as panicked as I was!"

"Bani..."

She cut him off once more. "But then again, if you had been brought to the hospital, then they would have had the decency to call me. So then I think, maybe you've been kidnapped. Maybe you're trapped, tied up, and the kidnappers are not letting you call anyone!"

"I know, I should have..."

"It finally struck me that if anyone might know where you were, it would be Tarun, or Ranveer. But since I couldn't get in touch with them, I ran like an insane person, to the front door every 10 seconds till Ranveer got back. And when he did, I had to threaten him before he finally told me that you had to leave for an emergency to meet Tarun!"

He stood absolutely still, waiting to see if she would go on. When all she did was stand there, breathing hard after her angry outburst, he took a tentative step towards her. "I'm sorry, Bani."

He watched as her eyes filled up with tears, his heart breaking a little bit. "Do you know what sort of thoughts were running through my head at first, Jai? Do you know that I was picturing you shot somewhere, needing help? Or even worse … that you were … that you were …" she couldn't finish her sentence as she began to cry in earnest.

He quickly crossed to her and took her stiff body in his arms, holding her tightly to him, "I'm so sorry. I should have told you before I left."

He felt her relax in his arms and he breathed a sigh of relief, thinking it would all blow over.

But then he felt her pulling away from him and he let her go as she pushed her hands against his chest. "No, dammit." She snapped. "I'm so angry at you!"

The tension of the evening getting to him, he snapped back, "I said I was sorry, what more do you want?"

Big mistake.

He knew it the second he saw her face once the words were out.

"You …" She began, her face turning red, her hands clenched in tight little fists at her sides as she searched an appropriate word. "You are …"

He tensed his own body, bracing himself for whatever was coming.

"You are … a bad husband!" She spat out and started to walk away.

He grabbed her arm in a loose grip, stopping her, turning her to face him. "I'm a bad husband?" He demanded, angry himself.

"That's right! You are a bad husband! Good husbands let their wives know where they are, what they're doing, if they need to leave in the middle of the night, dammit!"

"And it, bloody hell, took you to say seven and half years later." He regretted the minute he said it, tried to get his temper under control lowering his voice, avoiding waking up everyone.

There was silent for thirty seconds...

"You expect me to keep you informed of my every move, is that it?" He growled out.

"Why the hell not?!" She demanded. "I'm your wife. I have a right to know what you're doing. And if you were a good husband, you'd understand that!"

He knew she was speaking out of anger. He knew she didn't mean it. But he couldn't help but be irked as all hell.

Acting on instinct, he grabbed her other arm and yanked her to him, wrapping one arm around her waist, cupping the back of her head with his other hand, holding her steady for his forceful kiss.

He felt her give in at first, but then she pushed away from him.

"What the hell are you doing?" She said.

He pulled her back to him so that their bodies collided.

"Trying to get back my 'good husband' prominence, sweetheart," he said, his voice rough, and then he pressed his mouth to hers, cutting off her reply, kissing her fiercely.

He pulled his head back when he felt her trying to bite him and ignored her hands that were weakly pushing at his shoulders.

His eyes locked with hers.

He felt his blood boil at the look in her eye, as if she was almost daring him to continue.

Bending his head to touch his mouth to hers, again, he was surprised when she pulled away and, with some effort, untangled herself from his arms.

"Don't think that changed anything. I'm still very mad at you." She said and whipped around to walk away.

He watched her, angry for a moment, but then when he noticed just how shaky she was as she climbed the stairs, he grinned, knowing she couldn't stay mad at him for too long.

After checking on the kids, he found her in bed, her back turned to him. He undressed and got into bed, his arms reaching out to pull her to him.

She surprised him once again when she smacked his hands away and sniffed. "It's late and I want to get some sleep."

He rolled onto his back with a sigh and soon fell asleep, as an idea started to take shape in his mind.

~*~

The next morning, she was already out of bed when he woke up.

He accomplished his usually routine even though he woke up a little late than his usual time. Running for half an hour on the treadmill, showered and shaved, and then went downstairs to find her feeding the kids their breakfast along with some of the family members.

"Good morning everyone." He said.

He got a silent glare in response.

"Good morning, beta. Kya baat hai Munna, aaj teri tabiyat tik to hai?" Massi enquired, concerned.

"Pillu, tum bhi na. Pati ka deer se uthna subah me, bimari ki siwa koi aur wajeh bhi hoti hain." dadi said, wickedly.

He smiled; glancing at his wife, dadi's sense of humour was wicked. But his wife wasn't ready to give in, yet.

"Pareshan hone ki koi baat nahi hai, Massi. Maine kal raat kisi kam ki wajeh se deer se soo gaya tha, isliye." He assured her, taking a cup of coffee along with the daily paper.

"Aaj mammy is very angry," Krish announced,

"Stop talking and finish your breakfast, Krish. Otherwise you will be late for school." Bani commanded.

"Angels don't get angry na, daddy?" Princess enquired curiously but stopped dead when Bani glared at her.

Jai turned his back, buried his head behind his paper, so that she wouldn't see him chuckle. He turned around, when he got in control of his laughter, to eat breakfast.

Once he was through his breakfast, he stood up grabbing his jacket and leaned down to kiss her goodbye. He sighedwhen she turned her face so that his lips landed on her temple.

"I'm going somewhere for an important work." He said.

Nothing.

Not a word in response.

He shook his head in amusement at his wife's stubbornness and, after kissing his kids goodbye, left.

Bani looked down at Rohan as Jai went to fulfil his responsibilities then glanced up to look at her husband's shadow to find him standing at the door. He was waiting for her to look at him, he knew her more than herself. Jai smiled at her and left

She was still upset.

"Ready for school little champs?" Nachuket enquired, as he came down five minutes later.

"Yes, NC!"

~*~

The day went by quickly and, before he knew it, he was driving home.

He couldn't help but smirk as his mind replayed the messages he had left for her throughout the day.

There were ten in total.

"Hi honey, it's me. Your bad husband. Just calling to let you know that I'm at the office."

"Hi sweetheart, it's me again. I'm leaving the office to meet Tarun."

"Checking in to let you know that Tarun and I just left the restaurant, we're getting in the car. I'm heading back to the office for a meeting.."

"Just thought I'd let you know that I'm walking into WK's for lunch. I understand my HML is off the record for today."

"I'm leaving WK's now. Just keeping you posted."

"It's your bad husband again. I'm back at the office."

"I'm taking a quick break to go check on something."

"Hello darling, I'm walking back into the office right now."

"Hey baby, it's me. Just letting you know that I'm leaving the office to attend another meeting. I might stop in the freshing room on my way out. Haven't decided yet. But I thought I'd keep you informed."

"Your bad husband is getting in the car and coming home, wify."

With some effort, he wiped the smirk off of his face as he walked into the mansion.

He saw her sitting on the couch, folding some laundry of their kids, inside the mansions own laundry.

"I'm home." He said, announcing his arrival.

He watched her turn her head slowly to cast a glare at him, but he could tell she was fighting back a smile.

"You must think you're pretty funny, hmm?" She said, pursing her lips.

He sat down next to her and was pleased when this time she didn't turn away from his kiss.

"Am I still a 'bad husband'?" He asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

"Maybe." She said, a playful stubborn look on her face.

"Anything else I can do to change that?"

He closed his eyes in relief when she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his chest. "Just hold me." She said. "Please don't leave like that without telling me again." She said while after.

She lifted her head up to look at his face. "I'm sorry I shouted at you. I was so worried about you."She said.

"Want to tell me what's going on inside your head? Or should I just take a guess?"

She wanted to tell him she was scared because she overheard Massi and Pandit-ji's conversation. The Pandit-ji said, 'storm of what went before is on its way back to this family. He also said things are going to get tough in this family. And someone, he said, someone will pay the ultimate price!

What did that meant?

She had no idea.

But she couldn't bring herself to imagine that person turning out to be Jai. What if something happens to him? How was she going to survive without him? She didn't like where her frightening-mind was leading her to.

He wasn't a religious man, so she avoided his question and buried her head again in his chest.

"Did you still find out who was the person who shot the gun?" She asked him, instead.

"No. But what I could gather from my sources, it turns out; the target was someone else." He said and pulled her away from him a little, to see her face.

"I worry when you worry because I can't bear to see you in that stage, looking so unhappy and so depressed. Nothing is going to happen to me or us, Bani! And even if something does happen, we'll deal it together. So, stop worrying too much." He assured her. She nodded, but still uncertain.

"Want to hear the funny thing I discovered today?" He asked.

"What?"

"I started doing Krish's STL during one of my meetings." He said. She laughed.

He stood up, and then lifted her in his arms as she laughed.

"Jesus, Bani." He pretended a fake exhaustion.

"Are you sure you're not carrying triples this time?"

Now she burst into laughter.

That was brilliant...wouldn't we love to see Bani have a tantrum like that in KS and beat JW black and blue to get some sense knocked into him...

Leaving those messages is wicked...I am sure no wife wants ten updates on taking coffee breaks and attending meetings...sneaky idea...😉

I hope this is the first part...I mean there is the raaz...the shooting and panditji's words...what storm is coming and who is going to pay the ultimate price?😕

Loved Jai's 10 wicked messages 😉...What a great way to prove that he is not a "bad husband" 😆 😆

So what about the shooter? What about the pundit's words? Who is the person who is going to pay the "ultimate price" as per him?
Hope to see the raaz unfold soon 😉
