OS: Feelings!
Part 1:
Mehak was dressed up in a beautiful pink saree standing in a corner of a well decorated 5 star banquet hall with a glass of juice in her hand. She was staring at a guy dressed in a black tailor-made suit Shaurya Khanna. Even though this wasn't the first time that she had seen him dressed so impeccably, she found it impossible to take her eyes off him. For Mehak, it had been a year of staring and stealing glances of a certain Shaurya Khanna.
Mehak had been working at Shaurya Khanna's famous Delhi hotel "The Grand Extension for the last one year as an Assistant Chef. After her ISC stint, Shaurya and Rajeev offered her a job at their hotel and the Sharmas were overwhelmed on hearing about it. Mehak thought that she didn't deserve this post as she didn't have much experience of the job but Shaurya assured her that she was getting this job on the basis of her talent and not as a favor for what she did for him at the ISC finale.
In the initial few months, she thought that she wouldn't be able to continue with her job owing to Shaurya's overbearing personality. He was a perfectionist and it was tough for her to cope up with the demands of this job.
After the finale, when Shaurya apologized and accepted his mistake, Mehak was moved by his apology. And when he made the job offer, she thought that they would be friends at the work place but she was shocked when Shaurya acknowledged her only as an employee. He would treat her same as other employees. It pricked her heart but she never showed it on her face.
She realized that she was just another contestant for him who managed to gain his attention through her recipes. But working under him was an experience in itself. She learned that a good dish is not only about the right taste but about the right presentation too.
In the beginning, she too was of the opinion like her colleagues that he was "Khadoos Kumar but slowly she realized that even though he was a tough taskmaster, he had a heart of gold a softer side which he didn't want others to see and glimpses of this side were rarely seen by them.
When Shaurya would shout at them for their mistakes, Rajeev would quietly wait back and explain to them what Shaurya really wanted to convey by his harsh words. Mehak realized that Shaurya wasn't good at putting across his point and probably people always misunderstood his words and the intentions behind them.
Unknowingly, a bond was developing between the two which was oblivious to both. Mehak was getting attracted to the charms of Shaurya Khanna. She would steal glances at him when he would visit the kitchen for supervision. Mehak was always concerned about his eating hours. She had seen how he would have back to back meetings skipping his lunch and dinner. Mehak sensing that Shaurya hasn't eaten anything would quietly go in the kitchen and cook one of his healthy dishes requesting Rajeev to make him eat.
Rajeev too had realized that Mehak was developing feelings for him and he was happy knowing about it. He thought that Mehak was the right life partner for someone like Shaurya. As for Shaurya, Mehak was like any other employee for him but she was the only one who always managed to make him smile with her antics.
Customers were always in awe of her recipes and at times, when they requested to meet the chef to thank her, Mehak would look for ways to avoid meeting them. She still wasn't comfortable with all the attention that she was getting. She would beg her colleagues to meet them on behalf of her. Shaurya couldn't help but smile inwardly at all her antics of escaping the attention.
Mehak did not understand what was happening to her or why she couldn't take her eyes off him when he was near but she knew that there was some kind of strange attraction a pull that she felt towards him. However, Mehak knew that Shaurya didn't feel the same for her. He never looked at her the way she looked t him. If ever they crossed paths in the corridor or the elevator, she would greet him with a smile only to be returned with a simple nod from him.
When he noticed Mehak staring at him in the hall, something passed between the two of them. Having forced himself to break the eye contact, he returned talking to his business partners ignoring her sharp gaze.
A lone tear escaped her eye with his reaction. She quickly wiped it and headed towards her group of colleagues for a chat.
