Launching your own clothing seems to be the new trend nowadays for our Bollywood celebrities, from Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Malaika Arora, Bipasha Basu to Sonam Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor, they all have their own clothing line representing a bit of themselves and their personal style. Joining the bandwagon of these fashionistas is Anushka Sharma, who recently launched her very own apparel range.
Anushka gave us a mini sneak peek of her collection on her social pages. To begin with, the actress has launched 160 pieces of her Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, which will be available across online stores and major retail outlets in the country.
In interactions with the media, Anushka had told us that for over a year, she has been involved in choosing the styles, colours and fabrics that will be showcased in NUSH.
Speaking about her new venture, Anushka Sharma had said, "My nature is such, that if I'm choosing to do something, I become completely involved. NUSH, my clothing line is my second entrepreneurial venture after my production banner Clean Slate Films. Now with clothing, I not only had to do something that I really believed in but also keep in mind that each one of us is unique and have our own dressing styles that suit us. As a young girl, shopping for clothes that suited my sense of fashion under one roof was a struggle. I would end up going to different stores to put together the right casual ensemble. With NUSH, we endeavour to bring fashionable and beautiful clothes that you can wear to work, to college, to an evening do or even just to hang out casually, all under one label. I have personally taken interest in the styles of NUSH, so there's a bit of myself in all the outfits. NUSH is for every woman who is her own stylist."
But we felt the NUSH collection was quite a mish-mash and left us unimpressed. While we are fans of Anushka's casual androgynous personal style, NUSH did not seem to be a reflection of it.
After seeing the promotion pictures of NUSH, we saw a fan's lead and Googled some of the items. We found a similar apparel item as NUSH on the Chinese e-commerce website, Alibaba.com. Upon digging deeper, we found similar designs all over Aliexpress, Wish and Taobao, which are all Chinese wholesale websites.
What was shocking is that the designs did not seem merely inspired, but sourced right from these wholesale websites. We found the exact same item, but of course with the tag of NUSH.
If what we found is true, it is quite dishonest and unethical of Anushka Sharma to cheat her customers and fans like that. Shoppers who would be expecting original designs and quality from the actress would instead be getting something bought from Chinese wholesale websites, a common practice in India.
Here are some of the items launched by Anushka's line NUSH, shown in the preview, and some of the items we found online on Chinese websites.

Even if Anushka Sharma did not buy the items from Chinese suppliers, the designs are inspired and very, very similar, which makes her guilty of copyright infringement.
