Chapter 38 - The Insight!
"What the hell?" Arnav screamed...
"What divorce papers? What contract papers? Where did she see those?" Arnav just stood up unable to breathe and walked towards pool side...
He read her letter again and again. He sprinted inside his room, took the car keys and rushed out towards the door.
"Chote, where are you going?" Anjali called him from behind...
"Not now Di, something urgent came up and it can't wait..." He ran out to the car, hopped in and driving rash...
"Now what happened? By the way don't be late... We will be starting for Agra in an hour... Will have lunch on our way... Are you joining up or coming directly?" Anjali got worried and looked at Nani.
"Don't worry Anjali Bitiya, you know Chote... He will be fine..." Nani suggested Anjali to get ready...
Arnav opened his office door hastily and pulled out all the documents from all drawers... At last he saw the Contract Marriage papers... He sighed out loud...
"But when did Khushi see this?" Arnav wondered.
Then he realized she came to office to talk to him the morning he was mad at her for the Page 3 fiasco... That was two days ago... She was so upset and even ready to give up Master Chef final rounds and even give up the dream of her life... She said she will convince her father somehow... He recollected the change in her behavior after she left his office... She didn't see the car coming towards her in the parking lot, now he knew what she was worried about...
"Oh my god, she was willing to give up everything for me and save our relationship, our marriage... Just because she thought I was going to divorce her?" Arnav was moved into tears...
"Letting down her father and their dream, she chose me and decided to let go off everything... She was ok not to participate in Master Chef because she thought that could be one way to save her marriage..." Arnav almost cried out loud...
"Khushi, Khushi, Khushi... How can you be so sweet yet nave? Sweetheart, you thought I will ever let you go... You are the best thing ever happened to me... Those papers I had made before marriage, it has nothing to do with us ever... How can I be so stupid to keep them still in my office? Maybe I completely forgot about them... Damn it..." He tore those papers angrily...
He realized how much she loved him to let go off everything for him...
"Khushi, do you have any idea how much I love you? I have been waiting like crazy for days to express my heart and yesterday when I thought finally we could talk, you ran away to your parents... Now that I know the reason of your sadness, I am coming..." He will go wherever she is and bring her back in his life... She is his life!
"Mohan, when did Khushi give you the envelope and where is she now?" Arnav called her driver and asked him...
"Sir, I think they have final success party on the grounds of Taj Mahal at Agra. So everyone started from here at 10 am in the morning by luxury buses. Bhabhi is accompanied by her parents. Bhabhi talked to Naniji asking them when they will reach... I think the party starts at 7 pm today. They were talking about it..." Mohan provided update on Khushi's where about.
Arnav looked at the clock... It was already 4 pm in the evening...
"Damn, why didn't I check the envelope as soon as Mohan handed it to me?" Arnav was mad at himself...
"Aman, arrange my helicopter. I need to go to Agra right now... Arrange for landing and car for me to go to Taj Mahal where Khushi's Master Chef Finale is being held" Arnav ordered Aman.
Khushi decided to wear the sari and accessories selected by Arnav...
"Why can't I ever stop thinking about him? Why I have to do everything he likes? He doesn't even care..." Her heart chided her... And she still ended up wearing whatever he had chosen for her...
Khushi, her parents, all other contestants and their families reached the Venue by 6 pm. Variety of snacks and drinks were arranged at so many stations, music and overall ambience was extremely lavish... Huge stage was decorated beautifully and equal attention was given to individual tables...
Khushi was calm yet there was storm with in her eating all her peace of mind and sanity... She barely managed to smile and stay in there...
She never received any call from Arnav after she sent the letter and it scared her to death... Somewhere heart expected him to call her at least if not come running to her, console her and take her with him... But nothing as such happened and every second her heart was dying with negative thoughts...
Soon soft music and slow dance started...
Everyone was dancing except Khushi... Ankit saw Khushi sitting in a corner sad and lost...
"Hey Khushi, why are you sitting alone here? I think you should join us all..." Ankit approached Khushi...
"Hi, no I am good here..." Khushi replied politely...
"Come on Khushi, what happened? Why you look so tensed? If it is about the media, take a chill pill and I will handle them this time..." Ankit tried to cheer her up...
"No, it has nothing to do with media... You won't understand..." Khushi whispered but Ankit heard it...
"Then make me, trust me I will prove myself to be a worthy friend..." Ankit pushed her to spit it out...
"Nothing I am just worried about someone, I mean a close friend of mine... Are contract marriages and divorces are common in high society? She is going through one soon and I am worried for her..." Khushi couldn't help but ask knowing Ankit also belongs to the high society...
"Hell no, where did you get that idea from? Marriage is a good thing Khushi where people commit to each other for life, love and take care of each other... It's a universal concept and can't be different as per society status... Do you get me?" Ankit tried to explain...
"Oh," That's all she could say... Her face still clearly showed she marred with worries...
"Khushi, what is bothering you? You can share with me..." Ankit asked her genuinely...
"Then why am I the chosen one? What did I do Devi Mayya that I have to face this?" Khushi murmured to herself... But Ankit heard it still...
"What did you just say?" Ankit asked trying to understand her...
"Why some people walk all over our beliefs, feelings and we can't even do anything about it? We love them so much that it hurts..." Khushi was almost on the verge of tears... How much ever strong she has been in the past few days, she knew she won't be able to discuss this contract with Arnav without crying and she did not want to be weak in front of him and so decided to write him a letter...
"Hey, relax Khushi... Things will work out for your friends... Trust me, whatever happens, happens for the best... Sometimes things are not as they look so give them a chance" Ankit held her hands and calmed her down...
"What good will come out of a contract marriage and a divorce?" Khushi asked immediately...
"See if they love each other truly, they will fix things or else it was never meant to be and she can move on to find her true love" Ankit blabbered...
"Is it so easy to move on in life?" Khushi was surprised.
"It's never easy, you keep on waiting with no light at the end of the tunnel and trust me it's the hardest thing to do... But I guess we can't force others just because we want them..." Ankit replied more to himself knowing his own situation...
"We have to let go, I guess... Let me go get a glass of water..." Khushi stepped towards a drink table realizing she talked to Ankit about her personal life first time unknowingly and felt a bit embarrassed...
"What the hell is this contract marriage and divorce? What am I hearing? Did we goof up big time? Tell me it's not true? I could kill that fool with my bare hands... He should die, he doesn't deserve her anyways..." He typed so fast that his fingers hurt...
"Shut up... What are you even talking about? I don't know anything about it... Who told you?" She replied shocked...
"Not now... later..." He kept his phone in...
"Do you want anything else Ankit?" Khushi asked him and offered him water, the extra glass which she already carried along with hers...
"No, I am good with water..." He took the glass of water from Khushi...
There was a long silence between them...
"Ankit, I am fine... You go ahead and enjoy... I am enjoying too, watching them all dance to their hearts out..." Khushi did not want him to miss out on the fun because of her...
"Relax Khushi, I am fine... Will go back after this song" He wanted to give her space...
Just then Khushi felt restless and she could feel as if Arnav is somewhere near her... She looked around hoping to see him, and her heart was right... She could see Arnav frantically looking for her and now walking towards her...
