Hammie's Impression's ep 43~30.8.17~ three strikes and you are out!
We all make mistakes as we are all mere mortals, and fall short of perfection. Its deities who are perfect, so teach many scriptures. Even those without a faith, too realize that the good bit that resides in them, needs overhauling. As mortals we bear faults and then seek many a pardons from our personal deities. We ask for another chance! And but for the merciful nature of our deities we are granted chances to address our mistakes. The episode for me is about granting each other chances to prove one's real worth. The title itself comes from a game of basketball.. A warning, an alert ,the player has three strikes to net the ball,if missed! The player is out of the game!
Our player is Chandni. She is up against a trio, rolled into one! as I see it. A three dimensionality.. Looms in her face in terms of height, width and depth.. A rounded off persona made of three names. Dev; Advay; Chiku! Three words matter to her.. Do all three hate her? Or is there one who may love her? The answer is not easy as, three for her.. As it's not for us, the spectators too. But one thing is for sure, if Chandni wants to be part of the rather ruthless game of life.. She will get in there! and take her three chances and find out which is the winning chance for her! Which of the three, Dev , Advay or Chiku? Will bring the victory sound of three cheers for her and ???..
In a marriage apart from the boy and girl, their families too play a pivotal role. Where many couples see in laws as interfering and annoying. In laws, in our part of the world , are generally revered as elders who often, guide, instruct and advice a couple if their relationship appears rocky. Nani, falls in the category of those elders who believes in giving second chances. More importantly she is one who reiterates the sanctity of marriage. She is blindly obstinate in what she wants.. Question is what will be the outcome of Chandni meeting Advay ? Will there be forgiveness ,tolerance, mercy ? or begrudge, bias, or hard heartedness?
Dressed in red, this un-conventionally dressed bride stands on a threshold for the second time. This time round though, this is her rightful home. A bride she is, but her reputation earns her the name of a brazen! shameless hussy! That she may be, but not gutless as she waits to be asked to enter, Chandni does as she was requested by Nani. But others including Advay is quick to condemn and bar her from entering her house. Yet again he repeats the one night bride script! Nani , endorses the reverence of marriage, which is sacred and should not be toyed with. Allowing Chandni to enter, is equivalent to granting her a place in the family. Divisons already take effect. Nani touches legal tunes. Chandni is ready to enter her own house Meera Maasi sides Advay. But Pooja and Nani empathize with her.Nani choses Pooja next of kin to Advay to welcome the new bride into the house. The scene is predominantly, mock a court room battle between Nani and Advay , with regards to Chandni a wife being bared from entering her property. Nani actually champions the cause of women's right ! She pounds him with marriage gives meaning to a relationship . Advay scorns being married to this girl he nullifies it! Nani stamps him down and challenges his jaded views that pity he only sees the obvious, not skin deep.. He is swift to judge on circumstantial evidence. Even Pooja for whom he has a soft spot begs to let Chandni come in.. Advay refuses flatly. He marches towards Chandni inthe hope of pushing her back from when she came. In her face he growls, talk about being brazen.. She leaves her baby! Instead follows him here.. How much lower will she sink?
Chandni swallows her fear as his imposing frame nearly presses her delicate frame against the cold marble door post. Her tearful eyes and nervously apart lips, stare into his big bold eyes.. They carry a naked sharp loathing in them for her. Not for once does Chandni believe that whatever he felt for her before has passed. His nemesis continues to be alive and kicking in him! Before it was his parents brutal murder, that he had to avenge. Now it's being forced into keeping this mother of a baby!! She betrayed him.. For that she deserves punishment! He will set himself free of her! Advay's fury beats across his rib cage.. You disgraceful girl why have you come upon my door step? His peering eyes demand from her. Chandni and Nani both sigh.. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing?
When chances have to be taken to honour, faith, family and trust. Chandni faces Advay's expected fury to prove many points. Where Nani returns the keys to grant secure shelter to her family. It is right for Chandni too, to give into what Nani suggests. Return to Advay with her. Chandni is a devout believer in her faith she reveres the fact of her ritualistic marriage. Advay may shun it but she and Nani still adhere to it. Nani also empowers her , that she is going to her house.. Over which she shares ownership with Advay. Nani knows she can invest faith in her. She always felt Chandni is the right soul mate for Advay ,who Nani sees as a doomed soul as far as true love is concerned. But Nani only is on a strictly needs to know basis with Chandni.
However Chandni is truthful about the baby with Nani. This goes in Chandni's favour as Nani will be able to support her fully. Nani also realizes by Chandni's silence , that she is not the baby's mother.. But her hiding facts ,were geared for the greater good of her family. This again scores a point for Chandni in Nani's eyes.. That the girl, has substance, familial loyalty, consistency and above all has strong conviction to stick to her guns. She is no wall flower and has the stamina to bear grief for the sake of family. Nani can see ,that Chandni is a home maker rather than a breaker ,than she is seen to be.
Maamji's dissuading Chandni from going to Advay's house is a feeler from him,to ensure, if she ascertains what she is letting herself in for? But here too, Chandni rises up to more than she can be. what ever she does, it's about the greater good of her mother and sisters. She ventures forth now, to turn all slanders hurled at her mother and sisters, into a named legitimate relationship with Advay!
Nani tells it as it is! on her behest she brought Chandni as the bahu of her family. Advay as expected kicks up a fuss.. he will not accept Chandni as his wife! no two ways about it!he was done past listening.Perhaps he was losing against Nani's arguments about the sacred signs of a married woman, the mangalsutra and the vermillion.. to undo that by the arm he drags Chandni out of his house unceremoniously! But Nani too is his Nani causes herself to trip! That stops his marching Nani's bahu! Advay lets go of Chandni's arm,races back to her side! Visibly shaken. Nani rattles off her demands takes her chances to net the ball in the basket.. for her sake he will not kick her bahu Chandni.. do it if you love me Chiku she demands in pain. For her anything.. yes this girl can stay! To me this was a well orchestrated scene by Nani or providence? Advay perhaps needed a chance that would make it easier for him to let this Chandni girl stay! After all he is the awkward Advay Singh, Raizada he has to show some attitude..
Here comes the bride into the house.. one more time Chandni kicks the rice pot symbolic of the arrival of the goddess of abundance , Laxmi into the household. Advay is erhh, forced to take position next to Chandni.. he gives her sided glares, but regardless she kicks the pot! I come in peace, her heart murmurs, but he only wants to do a runner! Nani orders him to watch it! I spy you with my little eye! All good, and Chandni sails in as the lawful wedded wife of Dev? Advay? Chiku? Which one?? Chandni will have a riot finding out which one she is taking to task!
Right! When all good is happening! evil has to stick its oar in! Meera Maasi is unwilling to accept Chandni as the bahu. Quite effortlessly Advay joins her camp!but Nani tells them she is in charge! and she pulls the shots! and Chandni is her bahu.. demands the welcoming rituals be under way! Chop! Chop! Advay doesn't know what's hit him!!
Oh come smile please.. lets watch the show, we truly love both Chandni and her dishy, god's gift to women! hubby Advay! Look let's see how? they'll be little skirmishes, between them in the kitchen, bathroom.. over which part of the wardrobe who occupies? and how can I forget! Damp bath towel over the bed!! morning tea in bed!! oh come on just smile please! for Barun and Shivani.. hummm? Love hammie..
precap: chandni phones her maa.. gets a cold reception.. Advay overhears, Chandni assures her maa,she make every thing all right.. the lion growls ,the hell! you wont !
