To be loyal to one another is deemed as a virtue to possess in a bond. For it empowers relationships. For loyalty is seen as a form of devotion, an allegiance which we as human beings may hold for, our beliefs, our roots and nation, towards persons of value in our lives. Loyalty towards something or someone, lays the foundation of steadfastness and trust between two parties.Our sense of loyalty, wins us people's trust and respect. For our own emotional security, as human's being given over to the need for interdependence, we strive towards the virtue of fidelity. But at the same time, we can be fickle minded too, and often due to our circumstances, we may change our loyalties towards issues and people. During those times, we may well suffer losses in key areas of our life. However there those amongst us who the strong minded loyalists. Those whose loyalty to a cause or someone is unwavering, firm, and unshakeable. Certain questions come up to my mind about an unwavering loyalist. Are they at a risk of being taken advantage off due to their blind allegiance? Deemed stupid, and easily duped? This brings me to today's episode, which to me is based upon a form of loyalty to another person, that does not question, doubt..in fact it's a loyalty that supports another, completely and unconditionally. I refer of course to the step mother ,step daughter relationship between Chandni and Indrani. For me Chandni in role of a step daughter renders her vulnerable. She is not her mother's real daughter. Rather she is grafted into the family fold. This to me puts added pressure upon her to prove her gratification, to Indrani for nurturing her from infancy to adult hood. Chandni's unwavering loyalty to her step mother can also be seen as a debt she will perhaps honour for the rest of her life! as she was the outsider taken under the wing of an influential already maternal figure head..
Additional crux of episode trailer.. where a woman's loyalty is measured on the scales of motherhood.. Chandni asks the baby to address her as aunt.. but Advay gets to hear the tail end of Chandni's baby talk.. call me Maa. Advay draws conclusions. Murli sends him information about the infant. Advay gets a jolt!
None can equate with Chandni, yet another maternal strength to bear pain on behalf of others..like a mother labours through pains to give birth to the child she carries. Chandni too rather take the brunt ,upon herself to spare her sister and mother the grief, of this baby. In a FB of her conversation with Neeru , she reveals to us,how the baby looks like Meghna who being its mother is unaware of its birth but Chandni prefers to live this lie ,but spare the bitter truth from Meghna and her mother!Yet All Advay sees is circumstantial evidence.. Chandni interacting with her baby.. returning it to the woman to take away.It's all a clandestine affair, Chandni hiding her secret, that's Advay's conclusion...it's a moving scene, Chandni weeping, kissing, parting from her baby, whose tiny fingers grope for his mothers finger. For Advay its clear she is the mother, and a heartless one too! who abandons her day old infant to an orphanage, just to be seen without a stigma..
He is desperate to let go of his ill feelings towards her. Hence Advay grants her the opportunity to come clean with him regards this baby. Especially since Murli sent him the facts. But he wants her to confide in him like she did when they were young. But she knows that the details about the baby is a family secret.. a matter of confidentially! loyalty to blood ties! No way can she divulge anything! For a peeved Advay, not only does she withhold the truth from him, she lies through her teeth! Changes the topic! is evasive, thanks him for rescuing her.. that's enough! Advay had seen and heard all! Disgusted by her, he piles on silent enraged judgements upon her, liar! cheat! and rejected slips away.
Dealing with challenging situations, is fast becoming second nature for her. She can cope with Advay's moody turns, sudden appearance of the baby.. but what she cannot accept is the treatment PP dished out to her tonight ! Chandni gathers her strength and decides to be brave and honest enough and speak her heart out to Indrani! For once, Chandni decides to stand up for herself! Indrani is taken off guard totally.. the chit of a girls guts surprise her,where does her new found prowess comes from? The wicked step mother wonders. But then Indrani is no spring chicken, but a vicious vulture, who feeds upon the weak and the vulnerable! She turns on the emotional black mail , reminds Chandni gently, the significance of her alliance with PP.. but sure, if her dear daughter doesn't like him, then the chapter is closed.. overwhelmed by her step mothers feigned compassion Chandni hugs Indrani and confirms, she is the best mother of the world! Indrani cringes.. as Chandni leaves complacent PP is out of her life. Indrani fumes, accepting this ill omen girl is like embracing a snake ! she feels stung by this girl's sudden demand. It was in her best interest to calm Chandni, by giving her a false sense of security.. which will allow Indrani to carry out her next move , that will force Chandni to reverse her stance about this marriage.. For, to out stump Indrani is no easy task..
The potency of black and white evidence , has the power to formulate people's opinions. Often the element of trust in what is seen, holds firm ground in the spectators reaction. Two scenarios where actions speak louder than words!!
Indrani's reply to Chandni's refusal to marry PP..is to manipulate Chandni. Indrani orchestrates a staged drama of noisy creditors barging in asking her to clear her debts. Chandni, unswerving loyalty, forces her to intervene, to protect her mother, but gets pushed aside! But part of the act when Indrani is pushed! Chandni sees evidence of how things can turn nasty for her dear mother! who begs for 3 days grace to honour her debts! Chandni gets duped! Gets pushed into agreeing to marrying PP.. who part of the game interjects and graciously agrees as the son in law to honour his mother in laws debts! Such a web of deceit Chandni is back in the rut.. heroically, she will make her mother happy.. for her loyalty to her mother is unwavering... what Chandni wants is unimportant, what matters is her mother's wants.
The other scenario ,where what is evident and seen is often trusted and taken for granted .. is the outcome of the evidence Murli gathers about the baby for Advay..
One who fails to live up to be a mother, how can she live up to nurture a friendship? Here Advay misunderstands the baby scenario as the records show named mother, is Chandni..a mother who abandons her day old child to the orphanage..how can she live up to being a true friend? He fumes, Chandni deserves not even his hatred. She is no ally to her own off spring! how can she be his friend? His wounded soul, still seeks her care and nurturing like a baby does. Although Advay disallows his heart to believe that he needs her. His spoken and felt rage at her, from the smallest to the largest issue, is in itself an excuse to keep revolving Chandni around his whole being! Even Nani comments about his preoccupation with her.. he replies disgruntled, he s unsure why he cares for her? it's because he wants her annihilation!.. whatever ?but she fills him up from his toes right up to his thick head! Why cannot Advay be indifferent towards Chandni ?? he loves her.. Rabba ve!
The unwavering loyalist's hunger is never ending for its benefactors love. Chandni brings noodles for her step mother to devour.. Indrani would rather devour Chandni , expel her from her life! for good. The noodles Chandni prepares for her mother, has the vital ingredient of love in it. But finally Indrani's goody goody act is over.. as Chandni watches from far, how her mother actually tilts the plate and slides off the noodles with a fork into the bin.. how given half the chance her mother would slide her out of her life, as if she was some disposable rubbish! Chandni eyes weigh down with tears.. Neeru comes to her side, the poor girl's spirit needs to be rescued.. he reprimands Chandni's in vain efforts, of expecting love from Indrani.. after all Chandni is not her real daughter..but then again Unwavering loyalty.. does not question or doubt the person.. supports the person utterly.. Chandni talks about blood ties as opposed to ties of the heart..yes she is indrani's step child.. but for her, Indrani will always be the ,image, face, person, role of her mother figure! She will always see Indrani as the mother who gave her every happiness.. in the form of a secure home, two lovely sisters.. what more can she ask for? for relationships and bonds can also be established on the basis of what the heart loves.. she hopes and believes that one day her mother will also reach out to her from the inner recesses of her heart!.The battle therein now lies between the goodness of Chandni's heart and Indrani's warped diseased mind.. Neeru advices Chandni to let Indrani know about the baby.. Chandni rejects the idea, Meghna's future will be on the line.. and mother will die of shame.. so Chandni acts as the bolster for the family.. prompted by the bonds made by the heart!
When what is seen by the eye is enough to condemn someone.. Advay has no idea about Chandni's multifaceted truths.. Nani points out he only latches on to one colour of her truth.. negative side, there might be others.. but he protests there is only one truth about Chandni she lies and cheats! Its in her blood! He will see that what he sees as a stain , is only temporary and will wash out, to reveal that Chandni is still pristine..hamlet53 18.8.17 Interesting episode.. human emotions and predicaments are touched upon.. Barun and Shivani breathing life into their characters with each passing day.I am enjoying the show.. with all its gravity and nameless love.. tomorrow.. Chandni gets engaged to the right man for her.. she loves him? or loves him not? well any guesses if he loves her?
