Chandni...
She had still not let him go. He was sure she was not aware of the vice grip she held on him, fiercely holding on to him as if her life depended on it. Her tears tore him, sheared his cold heart painfully, broke his soul.
An undefinable pain permeated his innards. He was not new to physical pain. But this, this incessant assault which lacerated his vulnerable heart into million pieces. This was something he could not handle.
Why Why Why...
His mind wailed desperately. Why did her pain affect him. She was his enemy DAMMIT. He hated her. He had set out to destroy her. Pain was a gift from her to be cherished, safe guarded & returned with interest.
Then why was his heart beating a disconsolate wild rhythm. Its feral cadence jarring his senses.
He sensed her grip loosen. May be she was finally aware of her surroundings.
Dev...
He almost missed that whisper which he felt rather than heard.
He went absolutely still, not daring to even breath. Even his untamed heart seemed to come to an abrupt stop as if the shock was too unbearable. He felt oddly numb. His senses fled him. He felt like he was on the brink of a crevice tottering dangerously at the edge any time to descend into that dark abyss never to return, never to surface.
Then he heard it again in a tremulous voice, but slightly stronger than earlier
Dev...
His heart soared & resumed its wild beat. His breath coming out in strained gasps. Her body trembled & his heart lost its battle. His arms came around her, engulfing her in his warm protectiveness. He knew she was not in her senses, her soul grappling around desperately to hold on to a sliver of hope. But this reasoning did not resonate with his treacherous heart which was beating for its twin within the confines of his arm. Two kindred souls beating in harmony.
He wanted to fight this. He wanted to pull away, wanted to pull her away. May be even fling her out of his reach.
She betrayed you...
His mind kept reminding him if he ever needing reminding. He felt his arms loosen their grip. His body was finally responding to the message from his hyper active brain. In this battle between heart & mind his mind would always triumph. He was not weak. He knew that. He would not let her breach his defenses again. He would deny her that victory. He started moving away.
Dev please...
He froze!
Dev don't leave me again. Please not again.
Dev...
Please...
His heart would always listen to her diktat. It was never his in the first place, having lost it to her all those years back. Now the treacherous organ recognized its mistress.
His soul splintered. He would always be hers & that revelation broke him!
And his heart yet again fractured into million pieces & he felt himself tumble all the way into the abyss with no hope of resurfacing. He had lost the battle.
Author's Note
Friends just to clarify in this scene Chandni doesnt know Advay is actually Dev. She is still not fully conscious of her actions. In her most vulnerable moment her heart is simply calling out for Dev. She doesnt even realize she is hugging Advay. May be its just her subconscious mind which identifies the Dev in Advay
