Today was the much-anticipated scene between Advay and Chandni. And what did I think of it? Very emotional but also beautiful. Poignant and yet in a weird way, serene. Here we had a troubled soul, a young girl replaying a painful experience in her mind, and speaking of it so openly, in a descriptive matter for the very first time. Chandni's account of those three days and the aftermath left me with a heavy heart. As a viewer, I felt her pain and it simply reconfirms that Chandni too is a victim, just like Dev
Her account of the horrendous experience was saddening, but at the same time there was something very serene about the way everything unfolded today. Chandni placed her head on Advay's chest and tugged at his clothing tightly. And all he did was listen. All he did was absorb. Initially Advay restrains from hugging her back until the account becomes too much to bear and he finally, but gently places his arms around her. And as she slipped into a state of unconsciousness, he softly places his hand on her head, almost out of reassurance, in a protective manner. It was a very touching moment 😳
But there was nothing romantic about it. Well, at least that is my perception of it. That moment between them was pure. It was real. It was genuine. But it was also a vulnerable and raw moment between two people who know each other so well, and yet claim that they don't. There was no friction. No anger or accusations. There was just Advay, Chandni and that moment. And I'm so glad Advay got to see Chandni in such a vulnerable state. She's a broken young girl who craves for love, affection and acceptance.
Will this stop Advay from going ahead with his plans? No. But what it has shown him is that Chandni is harbouring a lot of pain within her and he needed to see that. In recent episodes he's been angry and annoyed at her. But today he came to her as Dev. Her friend. Her companion. No one can deny that deep down, Advay DOES care about Chandni. But his burning desire for revenge has engulfed his feelings of affection. Nice touch by CVs to have Nani's words playing in Advay's mind as he held Chandni in his arms. He's thinking. Maybe not changing but still thinking. And that's a start! 😆
But the beauty of this entire scene was in its simplicity. There were no dramatics, it wasn't epic and it wasn't supposed to be. It was subtle and that's what made it feel very natural. I also liked how Chandni uttered Dev's name in the pub, and Advay felt something. It could've easily been filmi. But it came out nicely. And what made it even better was Barun's expression 👏 This is what we call Dil se Dil ki raah. Both Dev and Chandni are connected on a spiritual level ❤️
Kudos to the little dynamite Shivani Tomar 👏 she was simply splendid in portraying Chandni's fear. She stammered and fumbled with her words as she described what had happened to her. The quivering lips, the crying in between... Shivani you beauty! 😳 It all seemed very natural, and all too real! And Mr Sobti, you are a class act! Advay didn't have much to say but his eyes said everything. The look of anger upon hearing Chandni's experience, the moist eyes and clenched fist. Barun was bang on point! 👏 Therefore I maintain that he has no equivalent. Even without uttering a single dialogue in that moment he still commanded presence. I must say, he and Shivani complement each other onscreen like bread and butter 😆Kya combination hai yaar!!
It was good to see Mama Ji delivering some home truths to Indrani. But as expected it fell on deaf ears. Indrani is consumed by her greed. She will not listen to anyone, and today she once again showed her heartless self by ignoring Chandni's call. She is not going to stop at anything until she gets what she wants. But she is an unfortunate woman. Chandni dotes on her, and look at what Indrani is giving her in return. This is the price Chandni is paying for being a dutiful daughter. It's funny how both Nani and Mama Ji were trying to knock some sense into Advay and Indrani, who are unwilling to change their minds 😆 But the only difference is neeyat (intention). Advay is no Indrani.
I don't know. I'm in a weird mood today. Maybe because Advay and Chandni's scene had an impact on me. Two broken souls. Both truly shattered They need each other, otherwise they will never heal. Ah! Damn the hopeless romantic in me!! 😆
Subtle and simple - and in that lies the beauty. IPK3 has my heart ❤️
