i feel like Varun has arrived with u talking about him lol.

i am very surprised by how close his no's are to ranbir and how less movies bir has done.

I do think that this will change end of the yr JJ i dnt see doing exceptionally well. so VD can easily overtake him. bt then there is Veer. if his movie connects it can easily do a 200.

Judwaa may or may not get to a 100 the genre is comedy after all. fingers crossed that VD is the leader come end of the year.

also Omie wat is Arjuns no. i feel like he probably is gona be a dark horse and sneak up on these 3. and is any of the other young generation actors close to these 3

I think the biggest test for any star is not how many successes he can deliver, but how many big hits he can.

Akshay has the most number of hits amongst all actors active today. In fact, by the end of their careers (as leads), Akshay might have a healthy lead over the Khans. But that doesn't make him a bigger star or draw than the Khans - because those Khans have delivered monumental hits.

With Varun, the case is the same. He's been here for five years now. In their first five years, Sanju, Sunny, Anil, Jackie, Govinda, Salman, SRK, Aamir, Akshay, Ajay, Hrithik, etc. had all delivered blockbusters or huge grossers. Not to undermine Varun's super successes. That said, the benchmark is those big hits.

Varun hasn't given a big hit like YJHD. In fact, Ranbir is among the few actors whose film has notched 2+ crores footfalls. Varun's best, so far, is Dilwale.

This is the problem plaguing Bollywood right now. There are actors who are becoming bankable like Varun is, but apart from the usual suspects, no star (or director) is able to deliver blockbusters. Since Varun debuted, there have been only four blockbusters not featuring the Khans - and three of them came in the same year (2013).

For Varun (or any other actor) to reach the next level, they have to deliver huge hits and in today's market, that's either a blockbuster or at least 200 crores. Ranbir did it with YJHD. Ranveer nearly did it with BM. So, is Varun capable of that 180 - 200 crore grosser in today's market?

Consistency is good, but in the movie industry, you'd rather deliver a blockbuster and an average fare, over two decent hits. It's how high the highs are - not how low the lows are.
