Scene I
[Continuation of the last episode]
[Uma, Kanak, Maasisa, Uma Shankar's family members and Payal's mom]
[Uma Shankar's house, occasion: Upcoming Yagyopavit Sanskaar ceremony preparations]

Kanak and Uma bow down to touch Maasisa's feet and take blessings from her, Maasisa gives her blessings and says: "So, bindhnisa (daughter-in-law) did you take good care of your husband, during his shivar (I'm not sure, maybe shivir means camping for a day or two?)

Uma and Kanak look at each other, but it is not the glance that two hearts share when they understand each other, in fact, Kanak looks at him to see what he will tell Maasisa and Uma looks at her probably thinking something along the lines of, "If only people knew her truth..."

Uma to Maasisa: Yes Maasisa, she took good care of me, and has returned with an intention of taking care of me in a better way."

To this Kanak looks down on the floor and Maasisa asks the couple to come inside.

The two walk inside and are greeted by Payal's mom.

Uma to Payal's mom: "Namaste, how are you?"

Payal's Mom: "I'm doing great."

Payal's mom to Maasisa: "Really, your daughter-in-law is very pretty."

Saraswati to Kanak: "Bhabhisa (the term used to call brother's wife) this is Payal Bhabhisa's mother."

Kanak walks ahead and takes her blessings as she thinking that Maasisa must have called her (Payal's mom) to tell her how Payal has run away from home and give her a piece of her mind.

Kanak is confused because everyone seems happy even though Payal has supposedly run away.

Maasisa to Uma: "Payal's mother is here for Shiv's Yagyopavit sanskaar, Payal invited her."

This piece of information lays Kanaks' doubts to rest, so Payal didn't run away.

Maasisa to Uma: "Uma, make a list of all the things necessary for the ceremony."

To this, Uma replies: "Yes"

Shiv decides to join in the conversation and says [in a playful tone]: "But Maasisa, Dhadosa (what you call an elder brother) has just come back from the shivar, let him rest a bit first."

Uma to Shiv [in a playful tone as well]: "Come here, you."

Uma then continues to speak [in a more affirmative tone now]: "Tomorrow is a very important day fo you in your life, and is also a very respectful occasion for a teacher and his student. And the work that makes you happy, does not make you worry about trival things like tiredness."

Kanak's eyes are busy searching for Payal and then she spots her in the kitchen! Shiv notices his bhabhisa and says to her: "I know what you are thinking, you don't know anything about the Yagyopavit Sanskaar and hence you are confused, right?"

Kanak to Shiv: "You're a little boy, but just like your dhadosa (referring to Uma) you can always tell what I'm thinking about. Now, tell me what it is" Hearing this, Uma smiles.

Shiv to Kanak: "When a boy grows old enough mentally and physically that he can become independent in his dharmic teachings, a Yagyopavit Sanskaar ceremony is conducted for him. And the Janeu is also worn henceforth."

Shiv continues to impart his knowledge onto his Bhabhisa: "And yes, now, only for today you can still think of me as a kid. I'll be a grown up responsible person from tomorrow. I'll also sit on your lap and you'll feed me."

Kanak smiles and Uma says: "For the last time Shiv, after that you will do all your work yourself. And with this you'll have to follow your dharm religiously and with discipline."

Shiv runs towards Uma and says: "I won't give you, my teacher, any chance to be disappointed with me as a student."

He also adds that since long, he's been excited thinking that he too like his dhadosa will start wearing a Janeu.

Hearing Shiv say that, Kanak exclaims [happily]: "From now onwards we won't need to call a pandit (priest) for any worship rituals, our Shiv will look just like a Pandit with a Janeu.

Everyone looks at Kanak, puzzled and not necessarily happy with what she's said, and she replies: "Um... I've seen that Pandits often wear a Janeu... in the films..."

And Uma replies: "No, anyone who leads a satvik (I think that means simple, but I don't know...) life with dscipline and respects the sacredness of the Janeu, be it man or woman can wear the Janeu."

Kanak to Uma: "So that means even women can wear Janeu?"

Uma to Kanak: "Yes, and it is also good for your health. Wearing a Janeu is also one of the sixteen sanatan dharms and everyone that follows this dharm should wear a Janeu."

Maasisa to Kanak: "Bindhnisa, in time, you too will learn everything."

To this Payal's mom passes a taunt: "Illiteracy can sometimes be so entertaining, everyone in the house must always be smiling due to Kanak's lack of knowledge on dharm."

Then Massisa gets up and asks Uma to freshen up and meether in the garden outside as she wants to talk about something important with Uma.

Scene II
[Maasisa and Uma, Uma Shankar's house]

Uma to Maasisa: "I was the one that gave Kanak that jewellery and money."

Maasisa to Uma: "Why? Everything in this house belongs to her then why do you need to keep it separately?"

Uma to Maasisa: "Kanak was a little insecure about her future and financial security."

Hearing this, Maasisa can't believe her ears. And can't help but laugh, she says: "Uma Shankar's wife is feeling insecure about her future? What kind of a joke is this?"

Uma to Maasisa: "She hasn't been able to trust me completely like you all do, it will take time."

Maasisa to Uma: "I don't know how much more you'll have to bear with, in your married life with Kanak."

(Translator's note: Oh yeah? Who is putting up with who here?! This women needs to know whose right and who is wrong. Because of her, Uma seems to follow not the law but his own set of rules.)

Maasisa continues: "Whose name people use to prove their faith, is giving a test in every step of his married life. It is just something I don't understand."

(Translator's note: To this Uma gives a look to Maasisa that got on my nerves, dude you are NOT right. Show him the err of his ways someone.)

Scene III
[Kanak, Payal and Payal's Mom]
[Uma Shankar's house, Ladnun]

Kanak rushes over to Payal [who is working in the kitchen] and says: "Payal, what are you doing here? Why didn't leave? I even gave you the phone number, you would've gotten all the help you needed."

And then Kanak tries to help her in kitchen work but is stopped by Payal, and she says: "Did you wash her hands before you entered the kitchen?"

To this, Kanak replies: "But my hands are clean..."

And Payal says: "A kitchen is like a temple, even if your hands are clean, you should wash them again. Here, I'll help you."

Kanak can sense that something is off with Payal. And asks her why she let go of such a golden chance. And Payal remember her mother telling her not to let Kanak control her life.

Payal looks at Kanak and says: "There's a lot I need to learn, I can't differentiate right from wrong yet. And always make the wrong choice."

Kanak asks Payal why she is talking with a formal tone with her even though no one is here but them.

In the meantime, Payal's mom comes into the background and says to Kanak: "When elders of the house forget their boundaries, then it is the younger ones that have to remind them. The truth is, that relationship-wise, you are elder to her and she is younger, and she seemed to have forgotten this, so I remided her that her relationship with you is that of an elder and younger member in the house, not a friend."

Scene IV
[Uma and Maasisa]
[Uma Shankar's house, Ladnun]
[Continuation of scene II]

Maasisa to Uma: "This is a new thing, but why are you putting up with all this?"

Uma to Maasisa: "Maasisa, none of this is me putting up with anything. You know that I never do things that don't sit well with or ar against dharm, everything except violating the dharm is just lack of knowledge, not a sin. So please don't worry, you have taught me well, and hence I know how to get people back on the track of dharm."

(Translator's note to Uma Shankar: No honey, she did not teach you well. AT ALL.)

Maasisa is a clever woman, and understood what Uma was hinting at: "What did bindhnisa do now?"

Uma To Maasisa: "Forgetting what she did, we now have to focus on the fact that she has asked to atone for her sins. And she also took an oatch for the same. I am going to take her shatdharm patni pariskha ( The seven qualities that make a women an ideal wife) test."

Maasisa to Uma: Shatdharm Patni Pariksha? aren't you putting too much faith on your wife? She doesn't even have one of the charaterictics of being an ideal wife, let alone 7! What is she won't be able to pass this test, then?"

Uma To Maasisa: "If that happens Maasisa, then I will have to leave her."

Massisa stares at Uma Shankar in awe.

Scene V
[Kanak and Uma's Mother (Maasa)]
[Uma Shankar's house, Ladnun]

Kanak To Maasa: He left me, that's what he said, he wasn't even ready to bring me home. Did you know, that I pleaded and pleaded with him and only then he gave me a second chance."

Kanak continues to speak: "Actually, this time I made a grave mistake. A person that leads a simple and pure life, I tried to ruin his dharm by intoxicating him with liquor. What I did was so wrong... bt Uma too didn't hold back when it came to giving me a judgment, I have to do that... that six quality test and prove myself an ideal wife. I already fear failing, you know."

Furthermore, she says: "You've never talked to me but it feels like we have a connection. Your eyes speak to me, as if they want to tell me something but I am unable to understand. But I have faith now, that even if Uma leaves me, you will never let me away from your heart."

Hearing this, Maasa's eyes become teary and a teardrop sheds from her eyes which Kanak wipes away.

Scene VI
[Uma and Maasisa]
[Uma Shankar's house, Ladnun]
[Continuation from Scene IV]

Maasisa to Uma: "You will leave her?"

Uma to Maasisa: "Yes Maasisa, I will leave her, but only as her husband. She will still stay with us, in this house and I will still support her and fullfill all her needs, but she will not be given any rights that a wife gets."

Maasisa to Uma: "But then what about the omens that you recieved from Shivji?"

Uma to Maasisa: "That's exactly why I have faith that Kanak will pass these tests."

Uma shankar looks at the statue of Shivji in the garden and says: "He too had forsaken Sati, but his love was undying, and then as Sati was rebrn as Parvati to be with him."

He continues to say [turns to Maasisa]: "Even for Kanak, this is not just a test. But because of this test, she will understand the true meaning of this relationship and she will also live it."

Furthermore, he tells Maasisa: "Just like a diamond needs to be polished before it's cut, this test too will polish our relationship so that it may shine like a diamond. I want Kanak to be the daughter-in-law that is deserving of your love and respect, Maasisa."

Maasisa to Uma: "I'm not worried about her or me, but you. I wish the by God's grace, your faith wins and my dubts lose." Then Maasisa looks at the statue of Shivji and says: "Maybe through this test Kanak will become a true wife of Uma, both physically and emotionally/mentally." Uma gives a surprised look to Maasisa.

Maasisa tells Uma: "What did you think? That I won't know? I am proud of you Uma, no matter how difficult the test is, you always stay put with your dharm. This means that my upbringing was right."

Both Maasisa and Uma smile.

Scene VII
[ Golu, Rani and Meenakshi]
[Rathi house, Pushkar]

Rani throws the Saree Golu gave her, on Golu's face.

[Translator's note: LOL 😆]

Rani to Golu: "For five minutes, you became the prince charming that I had dreamt of, but you are miles away from being a good husband."

Rani continues to be mad at Golu: "You love day dreaming don't you? Then love, and marriage, you can do both of them in your dreams! Because in real life, you don't have the guts to speak up to your mother."

Golu rembers how he told her on their blind date that their relationship cannot work because he doesn't want to upset his mother and also because she will never accept this relationship.

Rani to Golu: "I don't believe this, you are from the same Rathi family where people are ready to go to great lengths just to save their relationships. Look at Kanak, being a girl, she still left everything for the one she loved (referring to the fact that everyone thinks Kanak eloped with the one she loved.). Now you can give this saree to whoever your mother chooses for you. Because I, I have chosenmy lifepartner. He isn't the man of my dreams but at least he doesn't hesitate to tell everyone that I will be his wife. And from now on, don not even take my name, because our relationship is over."

Hearing all this, Golu walks out of the room, obviously he's sad. But so is Rani, she talks to herself and explains how she didn't want to be rude, but wants Golu to realise that if he doesn't speak up now, it will be too late.

Then Meenakshi walks in to the room yelling Rani's name. Meenakshi accuses her of stealing the saree, in the mean time Golu walks in and tells Meenakshi that he himself gave that saree to Rani, and that she is not a theif.

Seeing this, Ranie is impressed with Golu.

Scene VIII
[Uma and Kanak]
[Uma Shankar's house, Ladnun]

Uma to Kanak: "Here, have something sweet. These sweets are from your shop. Kanak Misthan Bhandaar."

Kanak looks scared and stutters: "M-m-my shop?"

Uma replies: "Why are you so scared? And your hands are cold as well. Isn't this the shop that you asked for? This shop will be yours soon, after you complete your test. Payal's mom got it from Pushkar. Here, say aah -"

Uma tells Kanak that it is auspicius to have sweets before you start working on anthing, Kanak remember Rani telling her the same thing before she went to Ladnun. Kanak takes this Bhabho's blessings and is even more determined to pass these tests as she feels that nothing can stop her now.

The End - For now...

Translator's Notes: A good episode overall, someone remind me what forgiveness did Uma seek after forcefully marrying Kanak?

Someone teach this man a lesson!

I get it that the show needs to move forward but when do we get to see Uma doing his part of prayachit?

And boy, so many scenes in this episode!

Sorry for yesterday's update, I'm still a groupbie so I was not allowed to post more than 20 posts a day.

I won't be able to uppdate yesterday's post today like I had imagined sorry, I work full-time and don't have much free time. But I will update it on Sunday, in case anyone wants to read it then.

I can't tell you how eager I am to be a Senior member and be done with restrictions. I refrain from talking to much just so that I don't mess up with my maximum number of posts. Yesterday was a tragic revelation for me when it didn't let me post.

And so today I didn't talk much in the forum because I wanted to be able to post for all the non-Hindi speakers.

And that thank you Graphic was so pretty. Thank you for appreciating me.
