Chapter 19 Moments!

"So Khushi, what are you making?" Arnav asked suddenly standing close behind her and Khushi startled... She looked at the clock which showed 3.30 pm in the afternoon...

"Nothing, just came back from work and making myself a cup of ginger tea and some snacks for everyone..." Khushi replied...

"Do you want anything? Why don't you relax in living room and I will get you your coffee" Khushi tried to send him out realizing her heart beats go crazy whenever he is so close to her...

"Don't worry, I will be talking to you sitting here. I will not be any trouble..." He winked and sat on the counter top in the kitchen... Arnav knew somehow he missed her at work and once he finished work on the major project, he felt exhausted. And first time in his life, he wanted to come home and wanted to come back to Khushi...

"Ok, you want to eat something? How is work?" Khushi asked casually trying to initiate some conversation and not feel scared by his close proximity...

"Ah, was crazy until today. We are waiting for the final confirmation on a huge project... I feel almost there nailing the deal but keeping fingers crossed... Exhausted though..." He replied casually...

"Try it..." Khushi handed him veg rolls but instead of taking the plate, he simply opened his mouth...

Khushi hesitantly picked up a roll and fed him... Arnav took a bite and continued conversation about the project not making her feel awkward...

Khushi got over her jitters and continued feeding him the rolls while eating herself... They both kept sipping their tea and coffee as well...

"What happened?" Arnav asked her concerned suddenly seeing her pale face...

"The veggie rolls did not turn as good as I expected... I will have to try many more times..." Khushi honestly told him.

"Khushi relax, they were just fine..." Arnav tried to pacify her...

"Really, then on the scale of 1-10 how would you rate them? For taste and for texture..." Khushi asked him directly...

"Khushi maybe on taste 6 and texture also 6... Yeah, not your best attempt but you have time to retry in this week and fix it..." Arnav was hesitant but he decided it was better to give her honest feedback... She needed it since she has hardly any time in hand to practice.

"It's all your fault..." Khushi was getting angry...

"What did I do? I just told you the truth so that you can improve... Maybe instead of whole wheat, you can try changing dough with all-purpose flour or a pinch of soda in the dough might help... And add dry roasted onions next time!" He gave her suggestions...

"I don't need your suggestions... Can you please go from here?" Let me retry them now itself... Khushi was still upset and mad at him...

Arnav was not sure what tipped her off... He slowly walked towards her... Every step he took forward, she stepped back...

"Why are you going back?" Arnav asked her curiously...

"Because you are coming forward towards me..." She answered innocently...

"Khushi, it's high time when I am coming towards you, you come forward to me and not go back..." He told her with a mischievous smile...

Before Khushi realize her back was about to touch the hot pan, Arnav grabbed her hand and spun her around... In the process, his hand touched the hot pan and he got a slight burn...

"Ouch..." He took his hand away from the pan just by his reflexes... Khushi was shocked... Was she so close to the hot pan and gas and he just saved her?

She quickly held his hand and held it under cold water... Grabbed ice pack and held it against his burn...

"Khushi, look at me!" Arnav ordered her huskily...

Khushi could not look at him... Her eyes were stuck to the floor...

"Khushi, tell me what is it?" Arnav asked her and made her chin up by his finger and forced her to look at him...

"It's all your fault... You came here and distracted me... I forgot to add two ingredients in veggie mix plus the baking soda in dough..." Khushi complained...

Arnav smirked at her reply... Does he affect her as much as she affects him?

"But I just came early because I was tired of continuous work at office... And I just wanted a cup of coffee, Khushi. Is it wrong to ask for a coffee?" Arnav acted innocent and let her express herself...

"No, but somehow whenever you are around me, my heart beats like crazy and my stomach feels weird with anxiety... I just cannot concentrate... I don't know..." Khushi replied to him...

He took her face in his both hands... She looked so innocent and cute... He just put her hair fringe behind her ears...

"Are you still scared of me? He asked her genuinely..." Slowly moved his hands down to hold her both hands and started playing with her fingers... Still standing very close...

"No, I guess not... But this weird feeling makes me confused... See, my heart is still beating so crazy..." Khushi breathed hard...

Arnav realized she is feeling all this first time in her life... Maybe she liked him, attracted to him or no one has ever been close to her like him... She is so young and he is the first man in her life and she is confused with her body reaction and feelings and his closeness...

"Khushi, trust me... It's ok... Even my heart goes wild whenever I am close to you... Maybe we will slowly figure out why it happens? Now relax and try again... Do you want me to go back to living room or give you some company here?" Arnav did not want to push her too much and scare her...

Recently they have been on better terms and he himself was trying to figure out his attraction towards Khushi! So he stepped back to let her decide...

"You can be here... I liked your suggestion, in fact we both have the same idea. She whispered pointing him to roasted onions and crushed nuts that she forgot to add..." Arnav just side hugged her and allowed her to retry while taking a seat on small dining area...

"You know I chose vegan and desserts if I get a chance to cook in final rounds... I have never cooked meat so I am not sure... But maybe in future, I will have to try cooking meat as well..." Khushi was telling him while trying to make another round of veggie rolls.

"Yeah, meat is easy to cook Khushi, especially chicken... But then you will need time to handle raw meat. Do you eat meat or egg?" Arnav asked her...

"I have tried eggs but no meat yet... My parents are also vegetarian so never saw anyone cooking meat or never tried eating any..." Khushi loved typical Indian veg food so much, she never thought she is missing anything else... But as a complete cook, she needs to learn to cook meat as well...

"No problem, you can try with me some time... Simple Indian dishes maybe and then try cooking as well... Nani also is pure vegetarian so make sure you inform her and preferably use separate pans and pots..." Arnav just suggested her...

"Yeah I guess... I might not cook at home then... Maybe here in guest house or at Oberoi!" Khushi did not want Nani to feel odd or disapprover her meat cooking...

"So you want to renovate this kitchen as well now?" Arnav asked her jokingly...

"No, no... I am fine with it as is... As is you are spending so much money on our kitchen in the main house..." Khushi has seen some of the high end materials and labor costs when they chose engineer quartz the other day! Even the kitchen island, last minute Arnav asked her to go for Waterfall cooking Island with extra quartz on sides...

"Shut up Khushi, don't worry about the money... I was just kidding... You can renovate this kitchen after main kitchen is ready... As long as it helps you cook the best and enjoy, I am happy..." He assured her.

Just then his cell rang and it was Aman...

"Need you back in office? Mr. John is coming here by 5.30 pm for some last minute clarification and he plans to fly back early morning tomorrow. He has preponed his flight owing to some personal reasons" Aman informed him.

"Khushi, I have to go back to office. The major deal I was talking about, the client is coming back to my office... I will be late..." With that he rushed out the door...

Liked how Arnav is taking time and trying to help Khushi with patience

Love it. Khushi is tell Arnav her feelings not realizing that she is falling for him. Arnav has really change for the better.
